LOL SEA!

mears · 15/10/2006 01:26

Like lula the best.

The others eem old fashioned. My 70yr old MIL is called Violet (Vi for short)

If you like the names that is all that matters though

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 15/10/2006 02:10

i think they are minging to be quite honest

LaDIEDaDIE · 15/10/2006 14:43

I only really like Iris out of that selection. Lula is ok but I think that it's too much like Lola and your dd would get fed up correcting people.

janeite · 15/10/2006 14:51

Love the name Violet, though probably swayed by how pretty the actress who played Violet in the "Series Of Unfortunate Events" film is. I also quite like Iris. Don't like Lula at all I'm afraid and have no opinion about Pearl so long as your surname isn't Harbour.

Lula is definitely one for the "lady bits" threads.

I would giggle if I had to read it out in class. And for that I blame MN.

zippitippitoes · 15/10/2006 14:57

I think en masse they sound worse..if you had four little girls with those names in one family you would appear barking

Calista · 15/10/2006 14:58

Like Violet.

Don't like any of the others, esp. Pearl!

pearl was the name of the main chartacter in lux the poet and the girl married to danny from supergrass is called pearl.
like violet.
not sure about lula..iris is quite pretty.

SPACEdoutzombieCADET · 15/10/2006 15:05

lol @ cod saying they sound like cleaners!

wafer · 15/10/2006 15:28

I love cleaners' names - also like Daphne!!

Daphne means 'tree nymph' and would actually be very glamorous and ethereal without all the coronation st connotations. In fact it was at the turn of the century, along with all the others. I think they're good solid names.

wafer · 15/10/2006 15:53

actually, it's Dierdre on c st, not Daphne, isn't it? Don't like Dierdre.

I know of a baby who was called Ivy recently and I really don't like it. Think because it reminds me of Ivy Tilsley.

Personally I don't like any of those but do love other old fashioned names such as Ruby, Lily, Ellie etc

TwigTwoolett · 15/10/2006 15:57

is Lula just a mispronunciation of Lola or Lulu or is it just daft?

Iris is the name of my sister's MIL .. she's very sweet but she's a hundred and humpty-four

Violet .. you're turning violet violet

and

Pearl's a singer, doo be doo doo
She stands up when she plays the piano
In a nightclub

LaDIEDaDIE · 15/10/2006 16:10

Blossmhowl, we are on the same wavelength with regard to Ivy. I know someone who called their dd it last year and I immediately thought of Ivy Tilsley.

I love them all, the old fashioned names are the best!

themoon666 · 15/10/2006 17:55

Violet and Iris are lovely
Pearl is ..... i dunno.... it just doesn't do anything for me.
Lulu is a name I would associate with small yappy lapdog with ribbon on its head.

motherinferior · 15/10/2006 18:13

Lula is the sort of name one might give a werewolf. I quite like it, mind, in that context.

wafer · 15/10/2006 18:14

all the names are old-fashioned including Lula which is a traditional name in the States, not made up, and also a name in Arabic meaning Pearl, funnily enough
