What pointless one woman/man boycott are you staging?

Here's my one woman boycotts.

I have boycotted Wadebridge because they elected a total wanker to the town council who said that disabled children should be culled to save money. I rarely visit Wadebridge anyway.

I have also boycotted Dartington Hall Estate for unreasonable parking fines. I park outside the grounds. Nobody cares.

And lego minifigures as DS2 always ends up with a frigging princess or mermaid or something and we have to deal with the tears. I'm sure their sales figures are unaffected.

None of my boycotts will make any difference whatsoever. I realise this.

So what are your pointless boycotts?

I am boycotting a place called Suttons Snax's.

I am hoping the reason is pretty obvious.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 27/09/2014 08:46

DH has reminded me we boycott New Year's Eve after a series of shite, over priced NYEs culminating in him breaking his wrist at the fireworks on the Southbank.

It's a pointless boycott since we now have a two year old and a six month old so can't afford to lose the sleep if we stay up until midnight.

Also, all our friends have babies too so no one invites us out after dark.

BigglesFliesUndone · 27/09/2014 08:52

Ooh where is vujon?? lived her all my life and never heard of it will check. I have remembered I am boycotting britanny as dh's ex is from there and when we got together all his friends kept telling me how much he loved her and how it took him ages to get over her. Also am trying to boycott the entire French language which is tricky when the DC ask for homework help. Oh and the dining table as SHE made a mark on it and it's still there. Tricky that one...

Idontseeanysontarans · 27/09/2014 08:52

Oh yes we boycott NYE, the pubs ramp up the prices, the musics too loud. People get too pissed and you're obliged to be cheerful. Nope, we stay in, have a few drinks, watch the local fireworks and go to bed Grin

thenightsky · 27/09/2014 10:36

One particular Shell petrol station since they accused me of texting at the same time as filling my car up. Physically impossible given I needed two hands to squeeze their ridiculously stiff pump.

Ended up with a shouting match between me and the guy behind the counter who had accused me. I demanded he play back his CCTV, which he refused to do. Long queue behind me were sighing and being all British and embarrassed.

I am boycotting Old El Paso products because their guacamole contains peas instead of avocado. When I buy an alternative brand, I do so with a sense of moral indignation which would be missing if I simply didn't like Old El Paso.

Nessalina · 27/09/2014 13:43

We boycott Hollyoaks in our household. Not quite sure why, the reason is lost in the mists of time, but if it ever comes on the telly there's a mad dash for the remote to change the channel!!

Also a local tapas restaurant that refuses to take reservations. When I wanted to go for my birthday with 25 guests they still wouldn't! I had to rock up, tell them there was 25 of us, then they told me to come back in 10 mins so they could prepare a table. After dragging 25 people away from the pub and back to the restaurant, took about 15mins, and they'd given away our table! Shock I was FUMING.
Went to the curry place next door instead, who opened up the top floor for us specially. Must've spent at least £600, so their loss! I'm sure they've noticed my conspicuous absence since... or not

olaflikeswarmhugs · 27/09/2014 13:47

I am boycotting my local semi-chem because I asked my sister to buy me a fake tan whilst in there to save me going in but she lifted the wrong one . I took it back an hour later and the manager wouldn't give me my money back because apparently I had used it ! Shock I had the receipt with the date and time of purchase on it and she refused to even look at the receipt . Angry

ShelaghTurner · 27/09/2014 13:50

Oh yes Pavlov I boycott a carpet place called Supa Flors. I haven't needed a carpet in the 15 years I've been aware of them so I'm amazed they're still in business tbh...

CharlieSierra · 27/09/2014 14:17

Tesco, Starbucks, McDonalds for obvious reasons. I'm also going to include holiday companies which are mostly AI from now on, previously I've stuck to not going AI myself but I'm really starting to notice the detrimental effect of it on the places we're going and it's very concerning.

A while back I was going to boycott Johnsons products after watching a programme about the heiress to the Johnsons fortune. She had way too many handbags and shoes and I decided I wouldn't give her a penny more of my hard earned money.

I totally forgot about my boycott though and never really stopped buying their baby bath stuff. Got loads of it in the bathroom now. Hmm

I am boycotting our local Co op and have done for years because they once asked if I wanted a bag and then proceeded to lecture me on making sure I re used the one they grudgingly gave me. The bag in question probably bio degraded years ago now but I refuse to go back.
I am also boycotting our local paper shop after they accused ds of having a fake £10 and refusing to serve him. The £10 had come from the Post Office next door and wasn't fake as he took it back to the PO to get them to check. I cancelled my papers which was inconvenient at the time but now I just pick them up whilst I'm out.

insanityscratching · 27/09/2014 15:20

I'm also boycotting Eammon Holmes on the grounds of him being a twat. I can't say I'm finding it a hardship tbh but I do feel as though I'm doing something worthwhile.

roundtoit · 27/09/2014 15:34

David Cameron on the grounds that he is David Cameron.

differentnameforthis · 27/09/2014 15:46

Subway - because they swapped to latex gloves (I have allergies) to make my roll & I had oral thrush for a week (roll premade before collection & they have a policy to NEVER use latex gloves)

Apple. Because of suicide nets. Dh has an apple phone (work - he has no choice) but normally one would never cross my threshold. He lost it recently (only in the car), he was in a panic & I refused to ring it for him Grin I only relented because he had lots of work calls to make that weekend.

I kind of boycot petrol stations...I mean, I buy petrol, but I refuse to buy anything else in them because of the huge mark up.

differentnameforthis · 27/09/2014 15:49

nevergoogle Your almost boycott of Johnsons made me laugh!

differentnameforthis · 27/09/2014 15:53

I was boycotting a soft play centre, because of something derogatory one of their staff wrote on facebook.

It was going really well...lasted a few years, then dd was invited to b'day party there...

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 27/09/2014 16:00

I am boycotting Travelodge as they tried to charge me £10 to leave my luggage with them for 3 hours after we checked out. I've stayed in dives and 5 star hotels but have never been charged for this before (except in the form of a tip in the US).
And it was noisy, and there was no air con. Stupid thing is that the stay was partially paid for with a refund from the last shit stay.

BalloonSlayer · 27/09/2014 16:19

< whispers > What's the thing about palm oil?

PetulaGordino · 27/09/2014 16:36

orangutans balloonslayer

Badvoc123 · 27/09/2014 16:58

Palm oil has orangutans in it!?.....
Blimey.

PetulaGordino · 27/09/2014 17:04

sorry i was on my phone and being quick!

orangutans and palm oil

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 27/09/2014 19:56

apple also, as it has fucked my iPad up royally. (And, no, you aren't a Genius, Sheldon cooper is a genius)

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/09/2014 20:15

I boycott Mickey Rourke for his political views. Christopher Walken because he was with Natalie Wood when she died. John Voight because of his relationship with his family. Tom Cruise and John Travolta because of Scientology.

I don't get to watch a lot of films. Grin

I also boycott Peugeot because they screwed me over when I bought my first brand new car. It was two weeks old and had fewer than 200 miles on the clock but had to go back for repair as the full beam lights kept coming on when I switched the indicators on. They had it for 6 months and for the first month strung me along saying that the part was coming that week, week after week. It was only when I got head office involved that they gave me the courtesy car I was entitled to. The dealership manager was a mysogynist wanker who talked to me like I was a little girl. The dealership has since closed in my town and I believe it was soley due to my one woman solo campaign of giving it the silent evils when I passed it.

I boycott Alan Davies because of what he said about Hillsborough. I bloody loved QI and Johnathan Creek Sad
