What pointless one woman/man boycott are you staging?

Here's my one woman boycotts.

I have boycotted Wadebridge because they elected a total wanker to the town council who said that disabled children should be culled to save money. I rarely visit Wadebridge anyway.

I have also boycotted Dartington Hall Estate for unreasonable parking fines. I park outside the grounds. Nobody cares.

And lego minifigures as DS2 always ends up with a frigging princess or mermaid or something and we have to deal with the tears. I'm sure their sales figures are unaffected.

None of my boycotts will make any difference whatsoever. I realise this.

So what are your pointless boycotts?

Right - found it. It's absolutely nowhere near me but I shall be sure to avoid it anyway.
I know there are more - I just can't remember them.

nevergoogle · 26/09/2014 22:32

I'm sorry I just don't think I can boycott 1971.

I refuse to boycott the song "knock three times" as I proper love that song.
1971 was the start of internet chat rooms (although i find it hard to believe there was internet in 1971) Hmm and where would mumsnet be if we denied that!

More than happy to boycott the existance of Lance Armstrong, born that year though.

A local roofer who once parked across my drive, blocking me in, and was extremely rude when I phoned the mobile number on the side of his van to ask him to move, then didn't move until I accosted his assistant who was about 12 and demanded that he got his boss to move I don't need a new roof but that's beside the point

Clarks for selling rubbish shoes and not measuring properly

Phones 4 U for being generally shite easier now they're bust

A local soft play that are stupidly expensive for the size of the place, serve pathetically small portions, charge for pre mobile babies but don't provide a suitable play area for tiny babies and actually refused to allow a 3yo to open his birthday presents on the premises because his mum hadn't booked a birthday party Shock

FlipFlopWaddle · 26/09/2014 22:53

Oh, and BT. I wouldn't go back to them if they were the only phone provider on earth although I would spend a lot of time in tears missing the wifi

Karenthetoadslayer · 26/09/2014 23:04

Our regional farm park. We used to board our house rabbits there and one of them suddenly died while he was boarding there. They tried to convince me that he had died of Toxoplasmosis Confused which was a blatant lie.

We have not been back since and deleted them from all our contacts.

snowgirl1 · 26/09/2014 23:05

I'm boycotting France because they've effectively banned non-French ski hosts (people who show skiers around their resorts). Ecole du Ski Francais are claiming compensation from British ski holiday companies who had ski hosts for loss of earnings. Er, no, I don't want ski lessons as I can ski. I want someone to show me round and save me having to try to read a ski map. How's that for a first world problem boycott?

Karenthetoadslayer · 26/09/2014 23:08

Oh and I forgot to say, of course nobody cares. Except that we would have usually booked the DC's birthday parties there, so they lost out on a few parties and of course we don't introduce friends to the park. DD is very radical about it and openly days she is not going there anymore, because they killed DRabbit.

HeeHiles · 26/09/2014 23:13

Remember that shop Morgan? They've gone out of business now - that was me that was and my boycott Grin rude staff and completely unhelpful.

M&S due to Asst Manager being very rude, then he left so Oakham chicken was back on the menu until I discovered Palm Oil in their products so it's back on!

The Sun and Nestle, Aunt Bessie's, (palm Oil) Sainsbury's rude manager in my local store, Tesco's due to Gerrymandering Heiress back in the 90's ......there's probably more....!

HeeHiles · 26/09/2014 23:15

HMV - made my dd2 cry - Gone!

HeeHiles · 26/09/2014 23:16

We have not been back since and deleted them from all our contacts Grin

That showed them!!

Karenthetoadslayer · 26/09/2014 23:19

Grin as we said - pointless!

Karenthetoadslayer · 26/09/2014 23:23

Well actually, we used to go there a lot and were friends with them, too. So may be they did notice?

ShelaghTurner · 26/09/2014 23:26

If I boycotted 1971 how would I go about existing and all that, being born in 1971. It makes things a bit tricky...

PetulaGordino · 26/09/2014 23:33

i'll boycott you shelagh

ShelaghTurner · 26/09/2014 23:40

Aw thanks

nevergoogle · 26/09/2014 23:45

Hmm could make filling in forms a bit tricky. There's not usually enough space in 'date of birth' to write. 'after 1970 but before 1972' is there?

I boycott one particular sales assistant in my local Sainsbury's because she once asked if I was DD1's grandma. Go to the actual shop at least once a day though - just avoid her.

I also used to boycott the newsagents right opposite work and walk further to go to another shop because of their annoying group of in-crowders hanging around and their rubbishly stocked grocery shelves (which didn't affect me because I was always only buying chewing gum). They've now closed down (to wails of protest from everyone except me).

Finally I boycott an estate agent near me because I suspected them of blacklisting me because I scoffed at the price of so many houses. This is inconvenient as they are probably the biggest estate agency in the city and I am currently house hunting.

camtt · 26/09/2014 23:57

Amsterdam. Wretched hotel chambermaid incinerated my blanket that I had slept with since childhood. I was 35 at the time. I may never get over it.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 27/09/2014 00:12

Wait....Aunt Bessie's use palm oil?!

I may have to think precisely where my morals lie...!

HeeHiles · 27/09/2014 00:53

I usually get McCains but my mum went to the shop for me and bought Aunt Bessie's Homestyle I think they were called, well Ingredients list was as long as my arm and the first one was Palm Oil Shock I was horrified and couldn't eat them personally but fed them to my children Sad

So ever since then which was a while ago now, never touched any Aunt Bessie product.

WheelbarrowWoman · 27/09/2014 07:18

Ralph Lauren, originally because I have an ex boyfriend called Ralph and he turned a bit psycho when we split. Just the sight of his name would make me twitchy. I then discovered they are somehow connected Nestlé, who I have boycotted for years, which makes me feel much better about actually taking scissors to DS's cute little RL outfits.

WheelbarrowWoman · 27/09/2014 07:37

... And this entailed really quite a few items of clothing as we were living outside the west, and I was given RL outfit after outfit as gifts/ bribes by locals who clearly thought as a western woman, I wanted to dress DS up in western goods. Oh, and I've realised thanks to this thread that I've been subconsciously boycotting THE WHOLE OF CORNWALL since as that's where said ex Ralph is from. A place that raised him can't be healthy.

saintlyjimjams · 27/09/2014 07:46

I haven't read all 11 pages but in case no-one has mentioned it the Wafebridge councillor died - you can go back!

I boycotted Jessops for about 20 years because they lost some photos & were rude about it. I boycotted Virgin record stores after a shop assistant was hugely rude to an adult with learning disabilities - and when I complained I got a pathetic response from the store manager about how I must be mistaken as that shop assistants best friends all had learning disabilities. And I boycotted the local newsagents as he was incredibly rude to ds1 (who has severe autism & severe learning disabilities). He might have noticed as I used to go in a lot, he's shut down now.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/09/2014 07:46

I have never bought a French apple in my life. I expect the French farming industry is quaking

elportodelgato · 27/09/2014 07:56

I love this! I boycott Tesco, macdonalds, starbucks, whole foods (used to be 'fresh and wild' - the American owner is vocally anti-Obamacare), we've never been to Nandos due to a long-standing 'joke' I have with my DH that I would dump him if he ever took me on a date to Nandos. Also any tv panel show which only features men. For a while my DH boycotted the whole of Italy due to a horrendous trip to Florence with an ex-girlfriend years ago, but I have persuaded him out of that one.
