thorntons, thats not too near us but good luck, hope all goes well.

could anybody tell me if agencys such as ua, b&b, kl, pay for you to go to castings,I know ts do who we are going with soon, but bma who ds is with at mo didnt when we had a casting.

sha11 · 07/09/2006 22:04

hi ellis mum your ds is very cute had a look on bm!

OP posts:
lanismum · 07/09/2006 22:07

elismummy, i can only speak for ua, but dd does get paid for castings

lanismum · 07/09/2006 22:08

thorntons, well done to dd for getting the job, i love rye, we used to go there in the summer after going to the beach at camber sands.

littlemadam · 07/09/2006 22:13

Thanks thorntons, he has done two days photos for them, but am told he is filming tomorrow for DVDs, not sure what to expect!! Think White Company is my favourite brochure, they started the whole "lifestyle" thing. Love their stuff, tho buy most of it on sale!! Will look out for your DD!!

Samsmumlou..I would just sent some pics off to a few agencies and see what they say. Kids London said we were too far out, but both Urban Angels and Bruce and Brown (who we went with) were OK about it, though told us to think long and hard about it. Elizabeth Smith only take London based, not sure about the others. I think DK in Sheffield is good, there is a mum on here with them, and her little boy is on all the Tomy boxes!! If I can help any more, let me know.

Let me know how you get on!

Ellismummy, B and B do generally pay, have only done one unpaid and they told me first.

SamsMumLou · 07/09/2006 22:25

Little Madam - thanks so much I really appreciate everything will def let you know how I get on. Good luck for tomorrow!

Ellismummy - it was 3 weeks ago now, I think I will just have to put this down to experience . I'm going to call them tomorrow to chat with them.

Thanks everyone will let you know!

ellismummy · 07/09/2006 22:27

sha11, thankyou, the pics are a few months old now so will have to update soon, hs hair is longer now.
dont think anyone else on here is wtih bma.

ellismummy · 07/09/2006 22:31

samsmumlou, they will be really nice to you, they are very good sales people. It may be up to a month you can get your money back, I honestly cant remember and I was too late anyhow.
If you type in models direct under google you will find out lots of peoples experiences with them.

ellismummy · 07/09/2006 22:48

sha11, what agency is your dd or ds with?

thorntons · 07/09/2006 22:49

Thanks Ellismummy and Lanismum. Lanismum - How are you all? Hope you are feeling okay. How is the gorgeous Lani looking fwd to catching up at the meet up on the 17th
Ellismummy. As far as I know most clients pay around £18 per casting . Maybe slightly more if it a fitting too. The agency take their relevant commission and then pay the model. Remember as with shoot payments can take up to 3 months to be paid. Did BMA advise you beforehand that client was not paying a casting fee?

Ragamuffin · 07/09/2006 23:00

Samsmum.......I also suggest trying to get your money back quickly if you can........cancel the cheque even, if you can!! We started this lark quite a few yrs back now with Models Direct and while we did actually do 2 jobs with them and cast for a third which we didn't get.........I would still absolutely say STAY AWAY! We were paid well below the going rate for the work that we did do and everyone in the industry who we have ever spoken to about it cannot believe that we actually got any work at all......Most of them have not met anyone who signed up with them and did get work.

dylansmummy........Well Done on your first casting and Good Luck.....Hope he gets the job.

Pimms.......watched the first 10 min.....have the rest on the SKY+ for tomorrow. We also have a TV War raging!

ellismummy · 07/09/2006 23:01

yes they did tell me when I asked beforehand, dont know if thats the case for all the castings they send people on.

ellismummy · 07/09/2006 23:03

ragamuffin, you are the first person ive heard of having work through them!

Ragamuffin · 07/09/2006 23:15

I know ........that's what everybody says. If I had a pound for every person who said that to us in recent yrs.....we'd have made more money than we got paid!!!

We did 2 full day shoots.........one photographic and one for a children's video production and we only just made our money back!

lanismum · 07/09/2006 23:19

thorntons, think lani will really enjoy it, i reckon she will be very excited at having so many kids to play with, im not looking forward to telling her when its time to go though

yackertyyack · 08/09/2006 00:00

Thorntons - Am very jealous of your 'white company' shoot as that is where I'm originally from!! I know that they do alot of shoots out on loation at camber - It will be lovely for you if the weather is shining!!!

2ManyPimms · 08/09/2006 07:52

dylansluckymum · 08/09/2006 09:28

pimms don't be silly i really think you came across very well!! your accent is very soft you must have lived here quite a while.

we're just about to head off to the casting wish us luck! looks like it'll be the same job as thortons dd if he gets it.

Hi Thumbs! Thanks How are you all? How is dd 1 getting on at school? DD started preschool this week ,bless her she looks so grown up in her uniform.
Yackerty ,thanks ,realy hope weather good too, will be erm interesting if it rains!
Strawberrymilkshake.Well done, great to hear you and dd had a lovely day at the commercial! Fab,no casting either!

strawberrymilkshake · 08/09/2006 09:51

Good Luck Dylans mum.

mythumbelinas · 08/09/2006 10:01

thortons, there's something so cute about the uniform! dd1 loves her tie and almost did it herself this morning! She's loving the juniors and is enthusiastic .. i'm so glad she didn't miss her first day Few of us mums were chatting and waving off our kids together and we got a bit teary eyed

spoke to a friend yesterday, her dd has been doing shoots non-stop during the holidays and has to turn lots down and says she doesn't do castings either .. and is doing a commercial today, i think.
