I was a friend of Charlston Farmhouse for a few years when we lived up the road. It was the country retreat of the bloomsbury mob.
I love the way if they wanted to do a painting they just did it straight on the walls, or the bath.

The guided tour was one of the funniest things I've witnessed.

Very earnest ladies in tweed skirts and lisle stockings managing to describe the promiscuous and adulterous behaviour and make it sound boring Grin

You'd take a couple of steps away from the last bit of commentary and slowly realise they were describing where the children were conceived, and by whom!

Lovely garden there too.

Evening all.

I have been going to go to Charleston for about the last 7 years - I will go this summer. Nag me, please!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 09/03/2014 18:30

oops, missed an "e", silly me!

magimedi · 09/03/2014 19:50

Don't mind the missing 'e' at all - just kick me in a month or so & tell me to get my sorry arse down there!

sanssoleil · 09/03/2014 20:13

GET YOUR SORRY ARSE DOWN TO SEE THE BLOSSOM, COMRADES AND SISTERS.

can you tell itsWine o'clock.....

magimedi · 09/03/2014 22:13

I will, I will

sanssoleil · 09/03/2014 22:22

Got to give it to the Ruskis-they have a proper sing-a-long national anthem Grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 09/03/2014 22:50

Are we allowed to say Ruskis?

IamtheZombie · 09/03/2014 22:59

Zombie's Ruski friend that you met at the London meetup doesn't mind it, Bee.

God only knows what we are allowed to call anyone these days Grin
My DDs have progressed from being half-caste,dual heritage,bi-racial....none of which they identify as personally

I worked for a blind person who called himself blind because he was literally....blind and he got extremely pissed off with all the pussyfooting. around with people calling him 'visually challenged' 'visually impaired' 'visually otherly experienced'-ok I made the last one up but you get my drift.

People of the Cyrillic Script under the rule of Putin???

Thumbwitch · 09/03/2014 23:16

Why wouldn't we be able to call them Ruskis? It's just russians for Russian, innit. As I expect you all know, being as widely travelled etc. as you all are Wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 09/03/2014 23:20

Oh she was so gorgeous Z, what a fabulous person.

It all drives me mad. Ruski sounds affectionate to me, but then so could Chinky and Paki and Frog. But I've seen people on here get their tits shredded for saying all of those.

And then other people say just because your friend is black and is happy to use, and be called the n word, ( funny how can't type that one), doesn't mean you should use it Confused

sanssoleil · 09/03/2014 23:23

My wildly travelled days are well over Thumbwitch I am relying on you to take up and run with that baton Grin

I think Russia for Russians/Russians for Russia is pretty much the battlecry

Nevertheless it is the only decent earworming national anthemSmile

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 09/03/2014 23:28

I have to admit some affection for O Flower of Scotland Shock

sanssoleil · 09/03/2014 23:36

MMMmmmm But the Russian national anthem inspires me to be Russian and proud to be the Russian that I am nationally not

Some sort of musicological neuroscience brainwashing occurring ??

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 09/03/2014 23:49

Nah, just makes me shiver, all that stomping across steppes, feet rotting, and frozen frowns, brrrr.

sanssoleil · 10/03/2014 00:04

I think you have had a bad experience lost two hours of your life watching Battleship PotemkinGrin

You forgot having to eat the maggotty meat and rolling around in unconvincing man-agony for 30 minutes [bitter]

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 10/03/2014 00:09

Three hours: Dr. Zhivago Grin

sanssoleil · 10/03/2014 00:41

I raise you 4hours and Ghandi Grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 10/03/2014 00:51
Grin

Much more appealing as hardship goes.

Warm and mystic.

Pass on the outfit though.

sanssoleil · 10/03/2014 00:57

You would certainly frighten the horses upstage the bride 'no offence'

Not even Tilda could rock the loincloth vibe

As for the film my heart was willing but my bum was numb................

Thumbwitch · 10/03/2014 01:35

I still think Ruski is ok, although probably better pronounced more like Rooski, where the oo is short, as in book (unless you're from that area that DOES say boook Wink )

My Dad is a Russophile. He has lots of Russian friends and has been several times to Russia. I went with him once, to Moscow, which was amazing - but I don't think I'd like to go without him.

sanssoleil · 10/03/2014 01:44

Blush Thumbwitch I have a collection of aeroflot flight bags and matroshyka dolls......

Love Russian fillums too

All a bit Sad at the moment, and difficult to get unbiased facts about what is happening.

Thumbwitch · 10/03/2014 02:00

Ah, Aeroflot - Dad used to joke about them A Lot. And, bizarrely, nick their cutlery Hmm
