Hello...

OP posts:
2ManyPimms · 13/08/2006 12:15

Just a quick hello to everyone on this cold, wet summer morning!

We are moving this week (hopefully - as the removals company hasn't sent me a confirmation yet!) so life will be upside down for a few weeks. With any luck, NTL will have my connection in and working on Friday.

Mrratty - How wonderful to have the poster! What a fab feeling you must get everytime you see it! Well done!

Lanis - CONGRATULATIONS! HOW WONDERFUL!

Cyan - Your little boy is seriously gorgeous! What fab hair!!!

Littlemadam - Great news about the job!

I picked up the Next Home catalogue the other day so I'd have a hard copy of DS's pics. He was pleased. Unfortunately, he spied the John Lewis back-to-school advert (full page) in the Sunday Times today and wondered where his picture was! Had to explain about buy-outs and options. Now I have a disappointed lad on my hands. Well, it is a good way to learn that not everything works out.

princessmel · 13/08/2006 12:18

Hi 2manypimms, where are you moving to? Are you leaving rainy st. Albans? We never had our mini meet up.

thorntons · 13/08/2006 12:50

Hope you are all having a good weekend!
Mratty, great news re dd`s Mothercare pic ,you must be soooo proud!
2manypimms-Good luck with your move! I have Next Directory too, which page is ds on ?would love to see his pic.
Marymay, good Luck re licence application, pretty sure it will get processed for you in time.

Thanks everyone re you lovely messages re DDs White company job on Thursday
Also heard on Friday that she has been confirmed for a shoot for Tescos Baby and Toddler mag on Tuesday !
Gotta drag myself and dd food shopping now ,absolutely no food even milk in the house!

2ManyPimms · 13/08/2006 15:08

thorntons - I LOVE the White Company! Superb about Tescos as well! Jeez - isn't the work flying in these days!

princessmel - Nope! Not leaving 'Snorbens. Just moving from our wonderful central location to a road quite close to the station. ANOTHER rental. I wish DH would figure out where he wants to live! Once the dust settles and life is more or less back to normal, we should have a Starbucks mini-meet!

2ManyPimms · 13/08/2006 15:09

thorntons - I'll have to check the catalogue. I only have the Home version so it'll be different.

julie4travel · 13/08/2006 15:10

princessmel- glad the party and cake went well

out of curiosity did anyone go to teh Debee Mcgee model thing in Birmingham today, just wanted to know what people thought. They emailed me to say still time to go etc and Paul Daniels would be there, wondering if he was the one entertaining the kids whilst they queued up?

thorntons congrats on tesco job

princessmel · 13/08/2006 15:21

I got that email aswell Julie. We didn't go. I think they only mentioned Paul to get people to go! He wasn't mentioned in the original emails.

A meet up would be great Pimms. How old are your lo's again? Its still an ok walk to town from the station isn't it? We go to a thursday toddler group near to the station. And you are near clarence park which is nice.

By the time my dd has done her photo shoot all the xmas work will be gone!

marymay · 13/08/2006 15:32

hi .thanks for the reasurance about dd licence has made me feel better

frisbee · 13/08/2006 15:37

Hi all.
I have a 6 year old DD and I am looking for a theatre agent for her.
Shes not able to model as she wears glasses and has been turned down from all the decent agents as they said they dont take kids with glasses.
I think UA would but theyre books are shut.

SO please can anyone tell me
if they are with A+J management as she has an appointment with them and I dont know what she will need to do or how to get there very well.!
was hoping soemone from here would have LO's with them too?

princessmel · 13/08/2006 15:43

I can't believe nobody takes kids with glasses Thats really unfair. Do they just put fake glasses on kids in pics then? Sorry I've got no help with theatre agents. Just shocked!

frisbee · 13/08/2006 15:53

I know its been a little hurtfull tbh.

She is very pretty otherwise and confident and chatty infront of the camera.

B+B were the rudest, they sent me a very curt reply to my e-mail saying , in all the years they have been running they have never been asked for a child with glasses and they dont expect that to change! Just a simple no thankyou would have done!

Well anyway, I see a lot of kids on commercials now wearing them so I thought this would be the way to go.

thorntons · 13/08/2006 15:58

Thanks pimms and julie!
Frisbee ,also aghast re what you have said re kids with glasses!!! How unfair. Anyway, good luck with dds A and J appointment! They are one of the best, long established theatrical agents ,my sister got lots of work with them when she was with them 20 years ago! Sorry cant help with what to prepare...but I am sure some other other lovely peeps on here will!

princessmel · 13/08/2006 15:59

Poor you I hope she's really successfull!

Just looked at my gp's letter for licence(only just had time cos of party) and its just a signature on the agency form, not even a stamp in the section where it says "stamp". The sig looks like a child did it. I could have done it myself for £28. Nothing in the comments section either. How do the people who see it even know its genuine anyway?

thorntons · 13/08/2006 16:12

Frisbee,A &J is based in Botany bay ,Enfield, near junction 24 of the M25 .Are you driving or going by public transport ? I would suggesting asking who has kids with A and J via www.notapushymum.com/ forum as most of their kids are with theatrical agents .peeps are lovely too just like on here! HTH and Good Luck!
Princessmel £28 !!! That is expensive!!

princessmel · 13/08/2006 16:14

I know! I was moaning about it on here the other day! I really hope dd enjoys modelling and gets work after all this!

julie4travel · 13/08/2006 17:11

hi frisbee- welcome to the thread, i think that is terrible being elliminated because of glasses. My ds has red hair and I know some jobs the criteria they stipulate non red haired children, its not nice to have that sort of branding.

My ds is with www.csmanagementuk.com he has only been with them a couple of months. carole the owner is very likeable and used to work for years for AJ management before setting up her own business. From what I have seen so far I have been happy. My ds has had 2 castings offered since he joined the end of June. All the kids are on her website. She has good contacts from when she was at a and j. you may find a couple of old a and j people moved with her. like thornton said try on NAPM as I think there is a few with A and J on their. CS Manaagement was if I remember rightly at Southgate area which was good for us as we could drive. The initial photoshoot was £52.50 and they offer the optional thing of you can appear on Spotlight if you want at the £80 as they are one of the agents who have permission to use it.

Good luck in your decision.

Did you try agents such as Norrie Carr and Truly Scrumptious too or just the top four? I am suprised at them saying no!

ellesmum · 13/08/2006 17:30

how terrible to discriminate a child just because they were glasses!

ellesmum · 13/08/2006 17:31

sorry i meant wear glasses not that she is glasses!! haha

frisbee · 13/08/2006 17:39

Thanks for all your friendly comments.

I only tried the top ones first then Bizzykidz,Norrie Carr and Ck etc. NC said yes but were a bit expensive.

Im happy for her to got with a thetare agent insted, they all seem to do commercials so I hope A+J take her on.

Thanks again

YummyMummy21 · 13/08/2006 18:39

Hi All,

Hope everyone is ok

ellesmum> I am in Hanworth so about 20 mins from Kingston I am abit busy this week, but will definatly get together soon

frisbee> That is awful about the glasses, did they dismiss her without asking whether she can see without them etc. Ohh well their loss.

Take Care everyone, Hope you have all had a nice weekend
xXx

julie4travel · 13/08/2006 19:09

frisbee- if b and b say no to my son (we had assesment the other day) he will prob go with NC, they charge £135 if i remmeber rightly for a year, they are cheaper than some like I just paid £180 for ts for my dd as she wasn't accepted by many agents either.

julie4travel · 13/08/2006 19:10

frisbee- did you try bubblegum? think their fees aren't bad and they are supposed to be really good

frisbee · 13/08/2006 20:15

Thanks, will try them then.

Just assumed after MOT, B+B,KL and Elisabeth S were so negative that none of them would take my little four-eyes!! LOL

ellesmum · 13/08/2006 20:29

sounds good yummymummy how olds your little one? my dd is 2 and half.

julie4travel · 13/08/2006 21:00

frisbee- i got loads of nos for my kids I wouldn;t worry. one agency says they look at personality or something of a child- think it is alphabet kids so you may want to read up on that. Its funny a few months later some agents said yes to my ds who originally said no, I don't understand this market! good luck with aj, they invited my son for interview yet I only booked the cs apapointment due to location at the time (where the offices were etc) , if we hadn't have gone with carole i would have made the appointment to see them as i have heard good feedback. think they do get the work, good luck
