Why does everyone feel the need to provide explanations of the reasons they joined etc, its a matter of personal choice, what we feel may be best for our children!
Theres an agency in manchester called Nemesis 0161 832 1133 that littlewoods use.

perfumelady · 22/11/2005 14:38

sh11 is right we shouldn't have to explain , none of us would do it if our little ones didn't like it. that was enid view which she is entitled to but enid if we all didn't do it you wouldn't have had a job!!!!

Are there not child modelling forums ? I ask because most of the posters on here seem to stick exclusively to this thread and anything else baby modelling related (ie don't appear to post on the rest of the board). Why do you choose MN ? No desire to be confrontational, I'm just curious

tigeryuan · 22/11/2005 14:59

sh11 - just found out the next photos shoot with bizzykidz is on the 4 Dec.

hahahehe · 22/11/2005 15:10

It seems like someone is trying to instigate an arguement and I am sure that none of the mums are going to oblige!!!! - don't think any of us need to justify why we are doing it. What is more natural than a child having there picture taken......they are not performing monkeys, even at 7 months my son knows what he does and doesn't want to do. He was on set a while ago and loved it.....he was in his element with 10-15 people playing and fussing over him. If he hadn't of enjoyed it he would have let them know!!!!
So where were we.........

crunchie · 22/11/2005 15:18

Cod/Enid I post sometimes AND as you know I post everywhere else

Perhaps you will believe me when I say my kids DO enjoy this, theyare always asking when they will do more photos. HOWEVER I am strict, they don't do castings EVER (OK if I planned to be in london that day with them I might think about it!) They only do jobs that seriously don't clash with anything else, I guess they each do 3 or 4 jobs a year - I turn down at least 3 times that amount and loads of castings (even though I have said I don't DO castings )

Money, well with teh few jobs we take, we don't do it for that. But yes a few hundred pounds is a few hundred pounds TBH And I reacon they will have enough for a cheap car or deposit or a bit of inter-railing when they hit 18.

Also So what if these mums JUST post on this thread, that's their choice. I know your thoughts on teh subject, just be thankful it is one thread and is not a rash of baby pasta

mykidsmum · 22/11/2005 16:37

I post elsewhere too!! Infact you sound like me crunchie, we also only do a few bits, and only ever the occasional casting.

tinkerbellchelle · 22/11/2005 16:48

Your 100% right about me I dont post on other boards, yes I do read them but this one I find helpful and informative so this is the one I use and its nice to be in touch with other people who understand the world of modelling.
To me it just sounds like you are trying to cause an arguement which is silly.

Enid · 22/11/2005 17:05

I'm not trying to cause an argument

I am an informed person from the other side of the camera, if you must know, most people have a jolly good laugh in the office over a lot of the baby pictures and we are so totally ruthless you wouldn't believe it. As I know that side of it I would hate to get my kids into it. If you don't care about that, then fine.

mykidsmum · 22/11/2005 17:08

In the same way that i know many of the people who work in nurseries take the piss out of the kids and parents, people still send them though. anyway noone would laugh at mine they are stunning

tinkerbellchelle · 22/11/2005 17:28

I agree with mykidsmum.... its the same everywhere people laugh at everything and everyone. If someone would want to laugh at my son then so be it there is no reason at all that he would be laughed at..... but hey thats just my opinion.

2ManyPimms · 22/11/2005 17:29

Ah, Enid...if you are a veritable fountain of information, perhaps you would wish to share a few gems with we mere plebs.

crunchie · 22/11/2005 17:36

Enid I do know the other side, I used to work for Mother & Baby magazine and organised/judged many a cover star competition - christ we were mean

I once entered my dd, just to see if my client would pick her, she got down to the final 8! (from hundreds) and then the client looked at me, looked at the photo - knowing I have a child..... and she got eliminated!!

Thanks for your concern, I know you are a straight talker rather than anything else, and I KNOW you and COD HATE this thread with a passion. But it does help some people as they are discouraged to do it at all, and certianly NOT with dodgy agencies. Someone has to stand up and name the good and bad ones. We can't stop people applying, at least they won't get ripped of if they read this epic thread first though

Enid · 22/11/2005 17:39

thanks for taking it in such good part crunchie

I am blunt. dont really mean to start an argument.

will PARp myself now

2ManyPimms · 22/11/2005 17:48

What a shame you are leaving, Enid. With your background and experience you could have provided some decent advice. What you offered so far is priceless!!!! ;)

mythumbelinas · 22/11/2005 17:55

Hi! Like everybody else i think my two dd's are gems. I had applied to several agencies (BK, ES, MOT and KL) expecting to get rejections, but v surprised to get all acceptances. I found it very hard to choose, but on personal recommendation have gone with Kids London. It's been a few weeks and my little dd has done 2 shoots and didn't cry, but older dd hasn't done anything yet. I am pleased .. i didn't expect good work so soon. I just hope they use her pics

tinkerbellchelle · 22/11/2005 17:59

WOW what a fantatsic start xxx

Enid · 22/11/2005 18:57

yawn another cowardly namechanger

tinkerbellchelle · 22/11/2005 19:08

whos changed there name??..... confused

perfumelady · 22/11/2005 19:23

took the words out of my mouth tinkerbellchelle

2ManyPimms · 22/11/2005 19:24

Thumbs - It is a great start!! Fantastic that you had the opportunity to choose between agencies as well.

Enid - Glad to see you are back. Perhaps you can answer a question - why is there such an aversion to paying upfront costs? Many of the "big names" in the business charge this way and very few agencies take these charges from the child's first job. Who were you with and what was your agencies policy?

teabags · 22/11/2005 19:48

2manypimms - a friendly word in your ear - take a look under "other subjects" - Enid wants to "name and shame you"......wtf!!!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 22/11/2005 19:49

Oh don't do it! They'll only be a bitch-fight! She's probably got it wrong.

Now can I just count to 10 and try NOT to post anything on this thread!..................
