O.k, thanx evryone, dp is going to phone them in a bit. And i'm going to see if i can find somewhere cheap for us to stay for a few days when we visit.

nutcracker · 31/01/2004 23:36

Just another little update. A friend told me that there is another empty house near here, it hasn't been boarded up so may not be council anymore but i am going to ring up about it first thing monday morning.
Also discovered that there is a housing minister or something so i'm going to try and find out who it is and speak to them

nutcracker · 03/02/2004 19:58

o.k, it's update time again..........
Phoned the council about the empty house and they said "it's tennanted". I said "well thats strange because it's definatly empty" and her reply was "well they have probably moved out whilst it's being reparied".
I said "probably, well could you find out for definate please". Anyway she reckons that the house is being worked on, the family have been moved out but they are moving back when the work is finished. Sounbds logical doesn't it....hang on a sec....
The people in the house next door told me that yes it's true what the woman at the council said but the family moved out over 2 months ago and no work has been done yet. They were moved to a house in another road, and have said that they may not come back.
So this is my plan, tommorow i will phone the council and tell them what i know. Then i will say "if the family don't move back then can i have their house ??" and "if they do mve back then can i have the house that they've been stopping in??". Two perfectly reasonable questions i think.
If this doesn't get any results then i am going to see my m.p, armed with photo's of empty houses and letters from my doctor, health visitor and psychiatrist. Wish me luck.

Also, does anyone know how i would go about finding out about a patch of land in Four Oaks were there are alledgedly going to be council / H/A houses built. At the moment the land is clear with no boards up but quite a few people seem to know about it and local residents have been up in arms because they don't want counicl tennants in their area. Anyone know who i should speak to ???
The council definatly won't tell me.

Coddy · 03/02/2004 20:06

well done Nutty!

you will annoy tem so much htey will give you a house on th e four oaks estate!

we used to go prma pushing around there and gawp

nutcracker · 03/02/2004 20:11

Thanx Coddy, i'm going to get dp to drive around where the piece of land is and look for any clues to who owns it and then take it from there. I will mention it to the council when i ring tommorw but i know they won't admitt it.
God i'd think i'd died and gon to heaven if i got a house in Four Oaks
Have got to see g.p tommorow for some antidepressants. I really wanted to avoid them but i think i've gone as far as i can without them. It's not my usual doctor though so i will probably have to go through my life story first.

Coddy · 03/02/2004 20:19

I used to live at clarence agrdens - give it a wave

nutcracker · 03/02/2004 20:23

o.k, will do

nutcracker · 04/02/2004 14:08

Here's my update for today ...
I phoned the counicl about the empty house thats 'supposidly' being worked on. Apparently i am not allowed to even enquire about any empty houses unless i've been offered one. The woman i spoke to was very helpful and sympathetic and told me that although i have medical priority, so do lots of other people and alot of them are probably in front of me. I resisted the urge to cry and said ' so basically i'm never going to get moved then'. Her reply was that i will get moved but i have a very long wait (years).
I asked her about the houses that may be being built in Four Oaks and she said that they wern't aware of any but her advice was to go and look at the site, take down any names and numbers of companies and take it from there.
I also phoned castle vale and they have said that i will now be nominated to there sister company (didn't know there was one), who will then consider me for any empty properties.
I'm beginning to think this is never going to happen.

Sonnet · 04/02/2004 14:24

Oh Nutcracker - hang on in there girl - It must be so disheartnening (SP!!) - what about your MP, armed with the pictures of empty houses or your local paper??
(((((((hugs))))))))))) and all the luck inthe world..

JanHR · 04/02/2004 15:41

Nutty if you get a house in four oaks we will be fairly close to each other once our house has been built

Jaybee · 04/02/2004 15:55

Nutcracker - surely if there is to be houses built on land in Four Oaks - there must be planning permission plans that have been drawn up and put to the council - would be planning department rather than the rehousing department - may be worth asking to look at the plans so you can see just was is being built.
Whereabouts are you - the reason I ask is that a friend of mine (with one child) is looking to exchange to Birmingham area - she is currently in a HA property in Northants.

nutcracker · 04/02/2004 16:39

Jaybee - We live in Sutton Coldfield, in a 2 bed 1st floor flat. What does she live in ????

JanHr - It would be brilliant if i could move to four oaks, i tihnk i'd cry buckets (with joy of course)

Jaybee · 04/02/2004 16:42

Think it is a three-bed semi with garden front and back. I have never been upstairs but the downstairs is quite large.

nutcracker · 04/02/2004 16:45

Meant to say, that i've spoken to environmental health today about my neighbours. They are going to write to her, and send me some diary sheets. In the menatime if she is noisy in office hours then i can phone them and somneone will come out to witness the noise. If i send the sheets back and they take further action then my flat will be fitted with monitering equiptmnent and she will be placed ona register whereby i can phone a special number to get people to come and wittness the noise (even out of hours).
Good job they are sorting it out as i very nearly killed her today as i have had to listen to her thumping music and shouting all day.

nutcracker · 04/02/2004 16:47

But would she still be interested even with my noisy neighbour ??????? I wouldn't blame her if she wasn't. The H/A are really trying to get her evicted, and are just waiting for the evidence from the enviromental health.

Jaybee · 04/02/2004 16:59

She has had issues with one of her neighbours too - not exactly sure of all the details. I will have a word with her when I next catch her at school.

nutcracker · 04/02/2004 17:12

o.k thanx Jaybee

Jaybee · 04/02/2004 17:22

Would you be interested in Northants then?

nutcracker · 04/02/2004 17:25

Well i would have to discuss it with dp obviously but i'd definatly consider it. I would have to check out schools and stuff though. The school my dd's are in at the mo is brilliant and i'm determined not to accept anything whoch isn't as good or better. What area of northants is it ?? I can check it out on up my street then.

nutcracker · 04/02/2004 17:26

Just a thought but is she registered on any home swap sites ??? If she is giving up a 3 bed then she would probably have alot of interest

nutcracker · 06/02/2004 20:34

Update for today.............

I went to the housing office on Castle Vale to take my psychiatrist letter in, and what a surprise the women i was suposed to give it too, was in a meeting. Anyway after a few words i left it at the desk with strict instructions of what they had to do with it. Then i went to a friends relatives house on the estate and was plesantly surprised at how nice it was.

A family are now definatly being evicted from a 4 bed house on the estate i live on now. Don't know exactly when they are being booted out but i am going to go after it. I am down for a 3/4 bed house so i should at least be considered for it. Las time i asked about it they said there wa no way i'd get it because they would have people who actually needed 4 bedrooms waiting on the list. I am going to ask them to consider the fact that we do have dp's 15 year old daughter to stay every weekend (not strictly true) and the fact that the chance of another house becoming available on here is very remote. If that fails i will threaten to give the story to the papers, see mp e.t.c.

Wish me luck. I'm determined to be out of this shoe box by the 6 week holidays.

JanHR · 06/02/2004 20:37

Hope it all goes well for you Nutty, You deserve somer good luck.
