As an offshoot of the Baby Modelling thread here is the new and improved thread for all questions you may have regarding agencies, the industry or just to relate general experiences. The last thread is hereby laid to rest - it was 5 YEARS OLD! Jeez!

If you want to DEBATE or CRITICISE go to the "Child Modelling - Debate" thread.

perfumelady · 30/01/2006 19:06

pebblemum have a look at the bottom of this thread 2manypimms has posted a huge list of modelling agencies that you could apply to, she's included web addresses also, if i were you i would just forget about models direct they are a complete waste of money.

nulnulcat · 30/01/2006 19:06

cyan · 30/01/2006 19:07

cyan · 30/01/2006 19:09

nulnulcat, take perfumeladys advice there are an abundance of agencies out there and if you get a chance, and have a cpl of hours spare read through this thread and the other one will put a link to it for you.

hi perfumelady did you get your passwords sorted for UA?

me23 · 30/01/2006 19:14

thanks cyan for the earlier posting, about the top they have to wear to UA. The one I have has got a little logo so I'm pleased dd can wear it to the shoot.

nulnulcat · 30/01/2006 19:17

thanks for the advice everyone!

cyan · 30/01/2006 19:29

me23- i felt really silly for asking but just didnt want to turn up and it not be suitable! how olds you Lo and what times your slot?

perfumelady · 30/01/2006 19:38

how about this for short notice, got a call today, late morning asking if we could make a job this afternoon in london, i'm a bit gutted that we couldn't, i know in this industry most jobs and casting are short notice and i'm quite happy to get a call one day and go the next, but couldn't have physically made it, plus dd was at school, was a big name too, but obviously wasn't mean't to be, maybe next time. at least she is being offered jobs which is so reasuring.

Thorntons: WOW well done for so many jobs in one week.....bet that kept you busy! I keep reading on here about different agencies but i sometimes think it is better the devil you know! Besides....looks like after sunday UA are gonna have a large influx of newbies!

perfumelady · 30/01/2006 19:50

cyan regards password, my dd's age group is being done next week.

anyone going to u/a shoot if you can get a plain white t shirt i would because the photo's look really good with just plain white, you will see what i mean when you see the photo's for yourself and i can see why they ask you to wear white , it must make the web site look so professional.

thorntons · 30/01/2006 19:53

Hi izzyrubi and cyan. My dd has just turned 2 .Things were really quiet on the modelling front the whole of last Summer -hence why I thought maybe time to swap agencies. UA`s website looks great . It is very informative and you are informed about jobs the agency has gained for its models. We went to a photoshoot with UA last Oct.Very impressed. Alysia the Director is very friendly and helpful Sods law ..(in a good way) after she has been accepted with UA ..DD has had 4 jobs via Bruce and Brown all without castings too .The agency staff are very friendly and efficient so guess will stay put.Overall I think both agencies are well regarded in the industry ,but work in different ways xx

sonya291275 · 30/01/2006 19:53

did 77777777 get her phonecall .

cyan · 30/01/2006 19:56

thorntons how long have you been with b and b?

izzy, am def considering KL but still want to check out UA before we do anything.

thorntons · 30/01/2006 20:15

Hi Cyan dd has been with B and B since she was 3 and a half months old so the best part of 2 years. She got lots of castings but not very much work up till the age of 1. I have had to say no to a few castings as also work part time. Hmmm ..KL are a very reputable agency too have met a few models and mums on jobs. Sorry if you have discussed this before, but why are you thinking of leaving?

7777777 · 30/01/2006 20:36

hi sonya! no phone call or email yet!

cyan · 30/01/2006 20:51

Hi Thorntons, not leaving KL thinking of joining. We were with Norrie Carr, but like a few others I didnt do my homework as much as I feel I should have. Im not slating the agency just feel that maybe we would be happier with someone else. I have terminated ds contract as he has been accepted by Inspired, KL and has shoot with UA on sat. initially we were accepted by elisabeth smith, norrie and scallywags(we applied last summer). now just deciding between KL,UA and IK. x
