Just wondering as many people I see claim to have been, is it that widespread?

OP posts:
Paschaelina · 15/08/2011 21:56

Sadly no MBJ, it's my actual life occasionally.

Not been called a troll myself but got caught up and named in "sassysusangate" and all that went with it! Angry A very sad time and something that caused a lot of sadness and feelings of violation on the bereaved mums thread!!! Sad

usualsuspect · 15/08/2011 22:27

Troll threads don't bother me that much really

Posters who NC to shit stir get on my tits more

StrawberryGateau · 15/08/2011 22:28

usualsuspect · 15/08/2011 22:28

Name change

ChrisPBacon · 15/08/2011 22:30

I think thats a reference to me
Name Changer

But gutsy WC Usual Suspect daren't come out & say it

usualsuspect · 15/08/2011 22:31

Don't flatter yourself ,ChrisPBacon

bibbitybobbityhat · 15/08/2011 22:34

Agree with you TOTALLY usual.

Trolling = fact of life.

Namechanging = easy to do on Mumsnet and a luxury for those of us who like to preserve our anonymity when posting about sensitive/embarassing/unique and therefore rl outing issues.

Namechanging just to shit stir re. a.n. other. poster = mnhq should be able to, and be prepared to, ban for life.

ChrisPBacon · 15/08/2011 22:39

now now, watch that blood pressure Grin

BodyofChristLegsofTinaTurner · 15/08/2011 23:56

Yup, under a previous name, I was asking for advice onn how to deal with a rl situation and was accused of stealing the scenario from a soap.

I got a bit pissed off and said I didn't watch soaps because they are shite. Hence much indignant MNers insisting they only caught the last five minutes of Eastenders because their MIL/Mother watched it. Twas funny.

I do feel I have to namechange regularly though, I don't think there are any MNers from my area, and if somebody was to join from my area I would be recognisable.

CaptainNancy · 16/08/2011 00:20

Nope, never, even when nc'd to post really really private stuff.

Am too straight and unfunny I guess.

Yep - and a cunt Smile

On the Feminist section, natch.

AitchTwoOh · 16/08/2011 00:39

oh yes, and a cunt too. although not on feminist section in my case. Grin

one of my very good real life friends was troll-hunted on here in an extraordinarily vicious and stupid fashion (she was labelled a paedophile, which was nice). she had, in fact, been posting here for about three years and was seeking advice on a question that genuinely troubled her. she's gone now, won't be posting here again and i can't say i blame her.

Fatshionista · 16/08/2011 00:44

Hijack but that MissRabbit thread is sheer fucking genius.

AitchTwoOh · 16/08/2011 00:46

what? where? no roundup for the next fortnight but will mark OTW.

CaptainNancy · 16/08/2011 00:48

The Miss Rabbit thread is ancient though aitch...

AitchTwoOh · 16/08/2011 00:50

is it on active convos? went looking for it but couldn't find. ach, if it's ancient i probably can't do it.

twinklypearls · 16/08/2011 00:56

Me last week, two mumsneters discussing my troll status on twitter. I don't use twitter so would not have known but some other mumsnetters who know me well and knew the accusations were false let me know.

At the time I was annoyed but calmly and privately contacted the lead troll hunter to set her straight.

colditz · 16/08/2011 00:58

me. I have also been accused of being someone else.

cloudydays · 16/08/2011 01:07

I was called a sock puppet not too long ago, because I agreed with another poster that everyone else on the thread up to that point had disagreed with.

It wasn't about anything particularly controversial, either, just an issue about family dynamics and where the boundary lines are between acting like a parent or a friend to your children.

I was pretty taken aback that people found it so hard to believe / accept that more than one person had the audacity to disagree with their opinion Confused

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 16/08/2011 01:19

No, never. Not on AIBU often enough, but I have been accused of being in a MN 'brigade.' Grin

PerryCombover · 16/08/2011 01:55

I was...but to be honest I was poking the beehive with a stick at the time

When I was under previous guises I was not so accused
