Who's been called a troll at some point?

Just wondering as many people I see claim to have been, is it that widespread?

OP posts:
MaxSchreck · 15/08/2011 21:25

I have been accused of being a man, purely on the basis of my name.

Since then I have changed it to something far more feminine.

TheRealMBJ · 15/08/2011 21:28

Grin @ Max

No great loss northernruth Saabs are shit anyway.

Malificence · 15/08/2011 21:30

Oh god yes, I starting posting again after a few years absence and had the misfortune to be on one of the "extended" troll's threads a couple of years ago.
I was called allsorts.
I've also been asked if I'm a surrendered wife Grin WTF was that all about?

oldraver · 15/08/2011 21:30

No, but I remember a thread similar to this where someone did a list of how to spot a troll, and I thought (and posted) that I and probably most of MN do the aforementioned things to preserve some anonimity

Georgimama · 15/08/2011 21:31

me, can't remember why. I think I dared to disagree with someone. Wasn't even my own thread.

Paschaelina · 15/08/2011 21:31

Never a troll but I was once accused of being Cod. My tpying was impeccable too...

TheRealMBJ · 15/08/2011 21:31

Surrendered Wife.

TheRealMBJ · 15/08/2011 21:33

Paschaelina do you run a donkey sanctuary?

Malificence · 15/08/2011 21:33

I know what a surrendered wife is Wink

I meant why on earth would someone mistake me for one? Confused

MigratingCoconuts · 15/08/2011 21:34

Grin at pinot!!!

superjobee · 15/08/2011 21:34

not yet surprisingly, i fair waffle on sometimes.. cos im a bit thick and even when typing cant shut the eff up Grin

TheRealMBJ · 15/08/2011 21:35

Blush sorry. I thought surrendered wife's weren't allowed to post on MN anyway. Too much sinful swearing and Friday night sex.

akaemmafrost · 15/08/2011 21:35

Me, it was on a Relationships Thread but I can't even remember what I was posting about actually, there have been so many, under so many name changes about my awful ex H. Probably you would call me a troll now if I admitted what I have put up with from him over the past 8 years. I was flabbergasted when they called "Troll" but it didn't hurt me, I knew I wasn't and a few other people stuck up for me so it was fine.

ClaireDeLoon · 15/08/2011 21:37

We haven't had an extended thread for ages they are always such good fun. Bring back the extended troll I say.

Ivortheengine8 · 15/08/2011 21:38

I was once when I disagreed with some things in AIBU. I learnt to try and not go there unless I felt a great need to have a snoot at a possible interesting post. I think the only trolls on mumsnet are the ones who can't understand that people have views different to their own and call other people trolls when they have no idea who they are talking to.

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 15/08/2011 21:39

I have.

I said that I had friends who worked in a nursery who found it disturbing when kids who were still being breastfed at 3 or 4 kept trying to grab their tits! Not sure why I would make this up

IWould - those BF threads are lethal!

Paschaelina · 15/08/2011 21:42

Nnooooo? Occasional mouse rescue from the clutches of my Snowshoe Hmm is about it.

GloriaVanderbilt · 15/08/2011 21:42

I have to say it didnt bother me that much. I knew I was real, I knew half of you knew me under my normal name, and I just sort of went, look, forget it, it's only me, it doesn't matter and I know this sounds like tripe, But it's not, so fair comment and don't answer if you'd rather not.

People seemed to believe me after that but it was a bit annoying.

I've felt worse after arguments in my usual name with people I've known for ever on here...that's what has made me feck off for a few months.

bibbitybobbityhat · 15/08/2011 21:44

Yep!

Its what comes of posting about something highly unusual that's happened to you when no one else on the forum "knows" you - either because you are a newb or because you have namechanged.

As it should be.

Malificence · 15/08/2011 21:45

It was you Reality? Envy
I honestly remembered it as being AF Blush

I miss Extended, at least eh threads were pervy interesting.

There have been some odd threads on Relationships today, I very rarely think troll but there are a couple that I think are a bit Hmm

SaulGood · 15/08/2011 21:51

Yup. One of the only times I've namechanged to purposely conceal who I am (sensitive rl situation) as opposed to having a short attention span and puerile soh and somebody screamed troll at me. Thankfully, several other MNers recognised me and vouched for me.

TheRealMBJ · 15/08/2011 21:53

Pasch is that another piscean reference that I'm not getting?

But bibbity it's often poster who are not that well known themselves who start the 'troll calling'

EricNorthmansMistressOfPotions · 15/08/2011 21:53

Boxroom was a 'troll' only because she came on every few months under a new name, posted the same scenario about her vile P and step kid/s, and there was always someone who had to sleep in a boxroom. She'd post the OP and completely fail to acknowledge that she had been on here before. Then one day she came on and explained why she had been doing it...so not really a troll in that the scenario was real but trolly in her methods.
