Just wondering as many people I see claim to have been, is it that widespread?

OP posts:

I was accused of being Edwina Currie.

I'm not.

MrsYamada · 16/08/2011 16:37

I've been called a troll in real life. Kids are mean.

Pagwatch · 16/08/2011 16:38

Kids are mean. My son calls me heffa.

MrsYamada · 16/08/2011 16:38

Grin Edwina Currie? What did you do?

Pagwatch · 16/08/2011 16:39

Were you with John major at the timeGrin

MrsYamada · 16/08/2011 16:39

Heffa, I do like that as an insult Grin. Not that I'd ever use it, being a grown up and all.

KatieScarlett2833 · 16/08/2011 16:40

My farts do smell a bit like eggs, though.

BupcakesandCunting · 16/08/2011 16:47

I got called a troll AND a journo on my first AIBU.

I was being a right dickhead, though.

Lol IWouldNotCouldNot litterally 2 days ago, on one of those horrendous BF threads i recounted a similar scenario i had witnessed in a cafe, about near 3 yr olds breastfeeding. I (thought) i had put my opinion accross in a way so as not to offend ANYONE, didn't get personal or aggressive and actually thought i'd been excruciatingly diplomatic and nice about it.

Basically got told i was a horrendous arrogant person, a liar because obviously i'd bother making up stupid stories and had massive assumptions made about my BFing status. Cause clearly this person knew me IRL and knew everything about me, my life and how i feed my newborn Hmm (who, for the record, i absolutely LOVE breastfeeding)

I guess thats close enough to being called a troll? Didn't bother going back, better things to waste my fun on here on Mumsnet Grin like the old man shag thred Blush

Anyway, i'm babbling again.

MissyBrookes · 16/08/2011 17:10

Also can i just ask, whats sockpuppeting? I had a search but i cant find it, or a mumsnet dictionary ....

Georgimama · 16/08/2011 17:15

It's name changing or registering another ID in order to post supporting your own posts - so I could name change or register another ID whose sole purpose was to say "absolutely Georgimama, I agree with every word".

Is calling someone a 'thickie' acceptable?

KatieScarlett2833 · 16/08/2011 17:28

What is a "me too hun thickie?"

MissyBrookes · 16/08/2011 17:34

"me too hun thickie" mmm it makes me think of a big cream filled bun with sugar and cherries on top

Cheers Georgiemama i will remember for the future... but the act itself sounds ever so weird. Everyone already knows you agree with yourself lol.. how strange!

Pagwatch · 16/08/2011 17:35

I am not going to tell you- ever.

KatieScarlett2833 · 16/08/2011 17:36

Fine.

ChrisPBacon · 16/08/2011 17:41

"me too hun thickie" is a term of art which describes those who aspire to the intelligence of a common or garden troll but who will never quite cut it vis a vis the numbers of brain cells required (> 2 usually).

don't worry little girl I've been CRB'd

MardyBra · 16/08/2011 17:48

I got called a troll last week because I appeared to have an obsession with knickers.

When I was a newbie (and under another name) I got called a journo when I started a thread asking if MNers were as blunt in RL as they were on line. I made the mistake of using the word "strident" which is, apparently, too DM.

Georgimama · 16/08/2011 17:51

The idea is though Missybrookes is that you look like a completely different poster endorsing your POV, so no one knows you are doing it. Sometimes people make it a bit too obvious though (such as by failing to disguise their own idiosyncracies of speech, typos etc).
