Hello and welcome to the seventh incarnation of the tearoom.

If you have found us by chance and/or curiousity you must know that the tearoom is a virtual safe haven for all those seeking a friendly word, a good cuppa and plenty to snack on. By virtue of its magic nature, no food can cause any physical damage, so chocolate, alcohol, transfat and all such can be consumed guilt- (and magically calorie-) free.

We have a wide range of soft-furnishing to relax on; a lovely garden with a swing and a ha ha; a variety of animals; a spa and (for some unknown reason) an apidistra.

Everyone is welcome, if you have one child, ten or none at all. We are a tolerant and fisticuffs-free zone. Instead we employ our energies swooning at Mellors the Gardner cum handiman thinking a silly things to get up to.

Please come in and say hello. You never know, you may end up joining us ...

Awwwwwwwww - TW - you are strong!!!!

Guess what???? - I was walking in a v chic area of Paris today and two women walked over to me to ask me where I bought my beautiful dress from - RESULT!!!!!

A glass of bolly more for everyone to celebrate my fashion success!!!!

(pssssssssssst - I did not tell them my Mum bought it for me!!!! )

thumbwitch · 02/05/2009 23:01

T42, that's great!
Cin cin!

I am not so strong now, I am starting to falter as he is still going. But wait! As I type, he fades into silence - perhaps he has finally given in....

teafortwo · 02/05/2009 23:19

Hurray - finally giving in calls for another round of bolly - and one more because Jacksmama begins with a 'J' and j is also for juice and juice is a drink - so lets drink to that too!!!!!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 02/05/2009 23:22

Spooky that you should mention Sideways. I bought it yesterday as they are selling it v v cheap in HMV and, on impulse, I decided to watch it again. Tonight we watched I'm Not There. It's inspired me to put a load of Bob Dylan on my ipod.

More Bolly anyone?

thumbwitch · 02/05/2009 23:25

gwan then - the wee one did cave in after another 5 mins and has now been asleep for about 15 mins so fingers crossed!

T42 pops downstairs to look up the word 'cool' in the dictionary... and sees this next to the word she is looking for this...

Ow! Who put that there?

Quite a day yesterday. Survived the supermarket! Got clothes! Very lovely slightly flowery blouse for £8 and a nice pair of work trousers for a fiver (bargains!!)

Then four hours of gardening, sometimes assisted by ds, and fuelled by regular cups of tea from dh (who seems to be much brighter and more cheerful this week - hooray!).

Then we decided to give Mr B his first bath since he joined our family. That was the best entertainment we've had in a long time. First he tried to swim, then realised it was only 3 ins deep so that wasn't going to work. Then he put his legs in the starfish-brace position against the dog bath walls, just in case (in case of what, we don't know) and looked Jolly Cross . Then, when released from the horrible experience of being made clean, he raced round and round the garden at absolute top speed for several minutes, to the general astonishment of the neighbours. Excitement over, he sat down with a decent bone for a good sulk. He's settled in so well to the family - just such an easy and intelligent dog.

Finished off with some French conversation for ds's exam next week. Well, a lack of French conversation, as it turns out, since his brain actually won't do French in spoken sentences. This'll be intriguing for the examiner .

Jacksmama · 03/05/2009 14:51

Good morning all!

Joins Amber in wondering how the brassbed appeared over the priest hole and what MadBad was doing on it...

Mimosa, anyone?

teafortwo · 03/05/2009 16:00

Hi JM,

Let me explain... Actually, if I remember correctly madbad started off doing a few Mama Mia style jumps all over said bed... then Mr Dylan explained it was his bed and instructed her to "...lay lady lay, lay across my big brass bed..." So being the polite lady she is she did so....then....rather quickly before his song ended...

ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz snore ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzz snore!!!!

She fell quickly asleep due to the huge amount of bolly she had been drinking like the fairytale princess she is!!!!

I suppose it is useful to have a bed in the tearoom as many people do end up sleeping here...

Jacksmama · 03/05/2009 16:08

Ah. All is revealed.

mistlethrush · 03/05/2009 17:25

TW I didn't know that you were experiencing sleep problems with your dh as well as ds... must be very wearing with both of them at it

Tea - re carrying - when out for a walk in the park ds could either walk or use his buggy - being carried was not an option! (Too heavy!!!) - so yes, we also go on the must walk option - but when he was a bit over 2 he still couldn't go on all that long - he could do 2 miles fairly easily - but its the wandering around all afternoon looking at things that makes legs tired apparently.

we've had mil staying for a couple of nights - which explains why I've not been able to share the bolly in hte evening.... but its not long to bolly time methinks!

Jacksmama · 03/05/2009 18:38

MT - have you been following Stars' therad? I just found it again - but have no clue what's happening.

Racingsnake · 03/05/2009 18:59

Lovely day on the beach at Weymouth. Took the train to avoid traffic jam (11 minute journey has made us think at least twice about train journey to south of France this summer).

I am looking for new clothes on e-bay (due to shock viewing of self in mirror). Have looked at Fat Face, East, Boden - has anyone got any suggestions? I want something beautiful but not necessarily fashionable, made of natural fibres probably and which will hide a multitude of bulges which being washable.

CurlyWurlyGirly · 03/05/2009 19:21

Aah, i think i've just blundered in to a tea party without being invited and late...how embarrasing...& its too early for me to tuck into my bottle of g&t without being on the receiving end of upwards eyebrows.
Well, i'll just join in and hope no-one notices.
I've bought some nice t-shirts from Boden this summer (nice length) and I've just got a fab top from Joe Browns (never bought from them before but very nice & a bit different).
There, i don't think anyone noticed my shambolic entrance (face is still bright red).

Jacksmama · 03/05/2009 19:25

Welcome Curly!! Nice to meet you! We only occasionally send out invitations... anyone is welcome.
And it's definitely never too early for G&T, or any other booze for that matter. No raised eyebrows here, ever.
Do make yourself comfortable.
And here is a fan to cool down your red face.

Racingsnake · 03/05/2009 19:28

Lovely to see you, Curly. Don't know why I didn't think to invite you here (you see - no skills when it comes to making friends!) but so glad you got here anyway. No doubt invited by someone with more social skills than me.

I think it is just about time for us all to have a nice G&T .... let me just see if I can remember where we hid the twiglets from the teeny-tiny little mohawk babies ... just accept them - it's a long story ... be careful not to sit on the guinea pigs ... come and sit over here, there's a lovely view of Mellors the gardener the garden in the evening light ....

mistlethrush · 03/05/2009 19:30

RS - I do like east (I am wearing some at the moment ) and it does seem to be quite good at hiding things. Feels lovely.

JM - yes, Stars - was on 1st thread very early on... Dread Pirate went along last week and had another chat - and I think Star's niece was there too - Stars just needed some space before making a move. [sorry, hijack back finished now]

Jacksmama · 03/05/2009 19:41

MT - does she live in the States? If yes, where? If in Washington State I might be able to help.

Podrick · 03/05/2009 19:41
Jacksmama · 03/05/2009 19:42

Hey podrick, come on in!!! Nice to see you again!
What would you like?

Podrick · 03/05/2009 19:51

oooh thanks Jacksmama!
I have a few gingerbread men in my bag, they are iced like punks...would you fancy one?

mistlethrush · 03/05/2009 19:54

Hi Podrick - there's a bottle of fizz around here somewhere, I know its here.... Anyone else?

JM - no, shes in UK thanks. I think that there's going to be a trip collecting things and taking things down to her part of the UK when she has a house that needs contents...

Podrick · 03/05/2009 19:55

Hi misltlethrush! Tell me, that Mellors guy...is he doing Tai Chi out there?
