Hello and welcome to the seventh incarnation of the tearoom.

If you have found us by chance and/or curiousity you must know that the tearoom is a virtual safe haven for all those seeking a friendly word, a good cuppa and plenty to snack on. By virtue of its magic nature, no food can cause any physical damage, so chocolate, alcohol, transfat and all such can be consumed guilt- (and magically calorie-) free.

We have a wide range of soft-furnishing to relax on; a lovely garden with a swing and a ha ha; a variety of animals; a spa and (for some unknown reason) an apidistra.

Everyone is welcome, if you have one child, ten or none at all. We are a tolerant and fisticuffs-free zone. Instead we employ our energies swooning at Mellors the Gardner cum handiman thinking a silly things to get up to.

Please come in and say hello. You never know, you may end up joining us ...

No time to post really seeing as I used all of it reading your varied messages.

Just wanted to clear up JM's confusion. MS =morning sickness (or all-bloody-day-long sickness in my case).
And yes, this being no. 2 to make it the 2nd trimester (yehee!) I do have a wee bump. You can't really tell when I am in y works clothes (post pregnancy wide ones now) but in my current atire of shorts and t-shirt it is there for all to see.

Hope to have a couple of minutes later... if DS decides to have more than an hour's nap...

Tea, you'll be an Aunty? Brilliant!!

UniS · 01/05/2009 20:03

Being an aunty is FAB. thats the kind of shopping I like doing...books & toys etc NOT clothes. All my N&Ns have been given child size cutlery with their name on as an adoption present. My own son, nope, just a kids set from the supermarket... oops. Mind you , he has auntys of his own who gave him nice things at his welcome to the family party.

teafortwo · 01/05/2009 20:36

Aaaaaawwww - UniS - I love the child size cutlery idea...

I wanted to make a pack of all the things I found to be 'magic ingredients' for a N.B - I had thought of a magic chair with vibrating action, lambskin to sleep on, the book three in a bed, baby massage stuff, Bach and Bruckner cds and a strong tie on sling for little and my sis to use to go for long dreamy walks together...

I told my Mum about this list and she said - - That is all very eeeerrrrmmm 'you' - I think they would prefer to do it all their own way....

Already I think they want an 'everything matching' nursery, a car seat, cot and posh pram.... so I see her point - not better ideas than mine - just different!

I am really thinking beautiful cutlery and a special toy might be a more diplomatic and well received present!

teafortwo · 01/05/2009 20:51

However, I think I have given her the best present of all already....

I happened to mention to her how great mn is and even tested a name for her on 'baby names' and e-mailed it to her.

When I was at hers and on her pc I typed in www.mu and underneath came up loads of mn addresses to talk threads....

So lets all have a glass of champagne to celebrate how great my sister is - incase she is listening in! But to be honest I think she is too up to her ears lurking in all the pregnancy threads to notice us toasting her over here!

UniS · 01/05/2009 20:52

yep T42, and if you are VERY diplomatic, do not mention the toy after you gift it to them, again, ever, it may be loved or it may be ignored who knows, tis impossible to guess. Boy is currently sleeping with a teddy he was given at birth and I filed on a high shelf as unsuitable... 3 years on and its Number one cuddly...

We found a good place to find child size cutlery that was not naff was ... big dept stores that sell cutlery by the item, look at the dessert size forks and butter knives and tea spoons. not all sets "work" but quite a few do. Then get key cutter or similar to engrave them.
Of course if you only have to find one set it may be you find a nice kids set, we had to find 6 in all, 2 x 2 and then 2x1. by number 6 we did find something in sainsburys, but the older ones we had to keep them all different so dept store it was.

I'll be getting boy going on a congratulation card for his cousins soon, they have just had their UK citizenship approved... 6 new brits on the loose in Leeds.

UniS · 01/05/2009 23:05

night cap any bdy??

thumbwitch · 01/05/2009 23:15

T42 - how lovely that you will be an aunty.

I was highly resistant to being called Aunty (although I have now given in) - when we were children all our aunties and uncles (bar one) were actually GREAT aunties and uncles so they were all of the ancient, pincurled hair and slightly mildewy variety - I didn't want to be associated with this type!

UniS - I'll have an irish coffee, since you're asking, ta muchly.

UniS · 01/05/2009 23:19

one alcohol laced coffe coming your way, the NMBS are bringin git over, so it'll be about half full by teh time it reaches you...

thumbwitch · 01/05/2009 23:21

half full - I should be so lucky! 80% of it's gone and there's one of the little blighters swimming in the rest!!

Jacksmama · 02/05/2009 01:06

Hey thumb... I'm feeling a bit of a thicko as I'm at my mum's and we have had half a bottle of bubbly Shiraz... each... ... but isn't your 2WW over soon? Is that what the reference to cocktails was about?

thumbwitch · 02/05/2009 01:14

yup, cocktail ref is definitely about that - another week's worth of cocktails due to start on Monday. DH is girding his loins in readiness!

would be useful - might expedite my visa application for Australia if I happened to be pg again!

amber32002 · 02/05/2009 07:20

Girding his loins?

Hmm, for me, the joys of the supermarket. Then clothes shopping. Then hiding in the priest hole until I've recovered from both. Anyone need anything??

Donk · 02/05/2009 07:39

Daisy - I'll try and find out how much it would cost to post the hippy chick!

Jacksmama · 02/05/2009 17:09

Thumb, perhaps I'm being dim, but why would being pregnant expedite your visa application? Does Oz need to be more populated and hence wants to import pregnant women? [puzzled emotion]

So, I have just Googled the Hippy Chick, and have decided I need one. However, at both price and cost of postage from the U.K. (No Canadian distributors.) May post a thread asking if someone has one for sale.

mistlethrush · 02/05/2009 19:24

Yes, we're also Hippy chick seat supporters - it saved our bacon 2 summers ago (nearly) - went on hols to Devon - arrived and found that one of the bearings for the pushchair had fallen out somewhere and the pushchair was therefore unusable - of course it was a bank hol week so we couldn't ring the pushchair manufacturuer until Tues - they sent immediately (fantastic service!) but it didn't arrive until Thursday - so only had the pushchair for one day. Luckily I'd seen the hc seat in the hall as I'd done the last look round for things we'd forgotten, and thrown it in the boot as an afterthought. However, we managed to do the South Devon Railway, Paignton Zoo, the acquarium in Plymouth etc etc etc all with assistance from the HS as Ds was only 2+ a bit then - if we hadn't had it it would have been really difficult! But yes, at the price. Someone's borrowing mine at the moment, so I can't help you out JM....

I would love a glass of bolly - is there any going? Don't feel naughty having it this evening - it is our anniversary after all. And I have spent the whole day gardening, apart from a short break when mil too us to the park for tea

UniS · 02/05/2009 20:06

amber- please kick my DH out of teh proiest hole on your way in, I think you rneed is greater than his.
DH felt the need to phone me while he was shopping in town this afternoon. he phoned to ask ME if HE really needed to buy new shoes and could he come home now! As his shoes are letting in water through teh sole... I think he really does need a new pair. he begs to differ and came home empty handed. I shall drag him down to the PC later to do some net shopping for all the other things he was unable to deicide on... But shoes are trickyier.

Boy now has a Drs appt lined up for Wednesday, I've been keeping a sleep chart for him for 2 weeks now and its shown up that he is actually sleeping more than I thought he was, I thought he was sleeping 14 or so hours out of 24, turns out to be 15-17. Today he had a 90 min nap in his "dog bed" a nest of blanket on the floor of his room.

Hummm, sorry about the small irish coffee last night. maybe I shouldn't believe the NMBs when they try and be helpfull. Mellors was no where to be seen tho. I think he may have been at teh interveiws for "buff butlers" ...www.butlersinthebuff.co.uk/faqs.php held in exeter last night.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 02/05/2009 21:25

Anyone here? We have Bolly.

UniS · 02/05/2009 21:30

I'll happily accept a glass or tow.

Have just been shopping on line and bought the kids sleeping bag DH chose but couldn't bring himself to actually BUY.... He is worse at shopping than me.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 02/05/2009 21:37

Men. Shops. Rarely a happy combination, methinks.

Twiglet?

UniS · 02/05/2009 21:43

please, umm, crhunchy. I do get a bit bored of having to do all teh family shopping, I don;t like it much myself. Thats why Boy is dressed in hand me downs, I'd far rather sort through a bag of hand downs and keep what will fit and I dont dislike than have that endless choice. Maybe it helps that I'm in a hand down loop with some people who buy quality clothes for their PFB.

Off to watch cricket tomorrow, then on monday DH wants to do a long bike ride and boy would like to go to a beach, SO I guess I'll be driving boy to a beach a long way from here to meet dh for lunch.

teafortwo · 02/05/2009 22:10

Happy clapping (at the cricket) UniS!

Quite funny - I woke up at four am a few nights ago with a sore back from carrying her Royal Milkiness all around Paris.

Unable to sleep I tried to distract myself by catching up on tearoom goss - interestingly everyone was talking hippy chick seat support - "Oh yes" thinks me "I will buy one of those wonderful inventions!"

Next day I showed it to DH who says "But wouldn't it be even better if Milk just walked. She always walks with ME!" Which is true - I think I need to stop picking her up all the time (it is just o much more handy for kissing) and she needs to stop rolling around on the floor insisting she "canta walllkah Muuuurmmmmmeeeey every 30 seconds!!!!

Jacksmama · 02/05/2009 22:41

Bol-ly, Bol-ly, Bol-ly!!!!

thumbwitch · 02/05/2009 22:41

JM, no youre not being dim - I was being a tad tongue-in-cheek about it - the visa application requires us to demonstrate that we have a proper ongoing relationship so me being pg should have some impact on that!
Also, yes, they do want more breeding people of the non-middle Eastern, non-Asian variety immigrating to Australia - they have, in the last couple of years, relaxed their restrictions on Brits going to Australia for this reason.

Bolly would be fab, ta. Although I shouldn't really - I had an extra glass of vino this evening because DH had Sideways on the DVD player and it's almost impossible to watch without a glass of wine in hand!

Shopping - I think I have more problem with it than DH does - he quite likes going shopping for him. He won't hang around while I do mine though - so either I go on a separate trip for me, or we split for an hour and re-convene. That doesn't work so well for him though because he likes to have my input into his sartorial choices.

thumbwitch · 02/05/2009 22:44

Dh is just in the process of trying out his range of cries - we started about 10 mins ago with the "Don't leeeeaaaavvve meeee" cry; then moved onto the "HOw dare you leave me you bad person" version; now we're onto the wobbly lipped "I'm an abaaaaaannndonnnnnned baaaaaaabyyyy" version. Not bad for 10 mins - I shall leave him for another 20 I think to see if he drops off - he should, as he is very tired.
