Tea room the 5th - welcome to the yurt

Welcome to the tea room. A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

You have found us- did you like teh slide/ bridge over teh HaHa. Teh priest hole is still available, its just over there.

Mellors and I have erected the yurt, strewn rugs around and good a good fire going in the wood burner. The place is feeling toasty and warm with not a draft to be felt. The kettle is now singing away on the hob. selection of teas for all taste on the shelf along with the hand made by potters mugs. Mellors very ably fitted teh yurt window with a window sill onto which can be placed a selection of pot plants and george.

Can someone sort out RP ( who I think came over with the sofa) and plump up the hay pile for donk.

Morning/afternoon all:
In the interests of equality between time zones I have brought in a typical Mexican breakfast (parts of which can be easily eaten for snack/dinner/tea as well)

Fruit salad (pineapple, melon and papaya with bit of banana)
Scrambled eggs with chorizo sausage/ham and chili pepper.
Tortillas/toast
Hot chocolate
Assorted muffins, scones and biscuits.

Donk I hope your hooves are resisting your teeth. I've got my fingers crossed that the tumor is not as nasty as you are imagining.

I use babywipes with my DS if we are travelling: he hates them but they are very useful when there is no water handy. Otherwise I use them to clean the whiteboard and my whiteboard marker pens. I have been now to use the (clean) spit-up rags (cutup old t-shirts); but my students protested. I'm not sure whether they were worried that the baby gunk might not have been washed off properly or the whiteboard gunk might find its way to DS

There are THREE children in my garden and I have no idea when the two extraneous ones are going home. They are brother and sister, which in my experience is a recipe for trouble. I may have to have a restorative beverage rather earlier than usual.

Jacksmama · 25/02/2009 15:44

Just want to report that I am in fact sitting down... thank you to all the stern-looking mummies!!

Hugs and luck to Donk's dad... xxx

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 25/02/2009 15:46

To all mothers of boys: your choices are (a) replace bathroom carpet immediately with vinyl/lino/anything else that is moppable (b) buy some of those very twee mats which fit around the base of the loo and are easy to bung in the washing machine or (c) both of the above.

Right, got the toilet talk out of the way. It is a teensy bit earlier than usual, but I am breaking open the yurt cocktail cabinet. DCMB - what will you have?

Donk - here are some fresh carrots and a very attractive galvanised bucket filled with tea.

Catitainahatita · 25/02/2009 15:55

Too early, perhaps? Would you prefer some hot chocolate instead? Glad to hear that you are sitting down.

nakedmowhawkbaby · 25/02/2009 16:11

Hooo Whoooo! What a day! We've been spinning and weaving and made a top nest with all our curly straws! Can you see, can you can you???

Common boys!

let's grab those muffins and chocolate buttons - remember to wee everywhere you can!!

Dodge those baby wipes!!!!! YUCK YUCK YUCK!

Jacksmama · 25/02/2009 16:13

at naked mohawk babies weeing everywhere.

I think I'll seek drier quarters until someone puts nappies on them.

thumbwitch · 25/02/2009 16:25

maybe their carroty steeds actually had receptacles to stop them weeing indiscriminately? Perhaps we could give them gherkins or something else to ride?

Catitainahatita · 25/02/2009 16:28

Right, nakedmohawkbabies, the chase begins! We'll have you all cleaned and nappied up before you know it.

Mellors, perhaps you could see to the wiping down of the nests?

nakedmowhawkbaby · 25/02/2009 16:52

Oooh whoo!!
catch me if you can Catita!!!

whoops, there goes Mellors!

Ooooo, back to the nest for me!!!

DontCallMeBaby · 25/02/2009 16:59

Hm, I am rather mal-coordinated, so bit concerned I may stick the fishing net up my nose and throw my wine over a nakedmohawkbaby.

Donk · 25/02/2009 17:08

Thanks for all the tea - that is a very nice galvanised bucket! And as everyone knows, tea is the universal panacea for all known ills...

I just hope that no-one is tempted to use it a a bucket for mini nappies.

Could someone make the naked mohawk babies give me back my carrots - the sack was empty when I went to get one to comfort chew on to try and save my hooves!

teafortwo · 25/02/2009 17:16

T42 rushes in and takes a quick expresso - hi all - I am very very busy talk soon x x x

She air kisses all in the tearoom presents Donk with a big bouquet of sweet smelling roses and then sophisticatedy rushes out where she is greeted by a rather handsome chap on a Vespa!!!

Catitainahatita · 25/02/2009 17:45

Oh, and...

mistlethrush · 25/02/2009 17:53

This yurt certainly does have rafters - wherelse is it that the nmb's have taken up residence?!!!

JM - very glad to hear it.

Donk - here are some more honey glazed carrots - I've put them in a different bucket with a lid on to stop the nmb's getting at them, so hope you get them this time. Do you really think you should be eating the roses?

Madbad - its option a for us - which we meant to sort when we started potty training but there didn't seem to be much of a problem then - its only now that the problem seems to have arisen. Not the right time to do anything at the moment until dh has a new job, so it'll just have to be the carpet shampoo for now.

I wondered what that pile of very small terry squares was doing on the corner of the bar - now I know!

Donk · 25/02/2009 19:18

Have you never eaten a rose? Very tasty...
But I do prefer carrots.
Mmmmm, honey glazed. Delicious!

Oi! Gerroff! They're mine! Little tykes!

MellorstheGardener · 25/02/2009 19:32

Hi justabout - see that you've got the clothing right - never would have recognised you under that Mongolian traditional costume - but the blush gave you away!

How is the thesis doing?

Donk - yes, I have had roses - generally crystalised first though - the really scented ones are the nicest aren't they....

Donk · 25/02/2009 20:06

Mmmmm - and rose petal jam on cream and scones
