Tea room the 5th - welcome to the yurt

Welcome to the tea room. A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

You have found us- did you like teh slide/ bridge over teh HaHa. Teh priest hole is still available, its just over there.

Mellors and I have erected the yurt, strewn rugs around and good a good fire going in the wood burner. The place is feeling toasty and warm with not a draft to be felt. The kettle is now singing away on the hob. selection of teas for all taste on the shelf along with the hand made by potters mugs. Mellors very ably fitted teh yurt window with a window sill onto which can be placed a selection of pot plants and george.

Can someone sort out RP ( who I think came over with the sofa) and plump up the hay pile for donk.

A Previous incarnation of Tea room may be found here

Did I hear the word champagne?

It's not the potty training DS I have to worry about (mummy, I make my willy put wee in the toilet), but visiting adult males by the state of the downstairs toilet carpet after they visit. DH has to apply the carpet cleaner particularly hard there.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 25/02/2009 21:00

Cmot - Glass of Bolly coming right up.

Yes, indeed. My friend's advice on masculine toilet behaviour isn't age-related - as far as I know she's still having to deal with those sorts of mishaps and her youngest is 8! Anyway, that's enough talk about wee ...

We seem to have run out of rose petal jam but perhaps we'll be able to make some in the summer. Meanwhile, I've put some twiglets, olives and cracked black pepper crisps in some of our interesting antique bowls. Who'd like something to nibble with their champagne?

Not you, naked mohawk babies!

Donk · 25/02/2009 21:11

Naked mohawk babies GET OFF MY CHOCOLATE DIPPED CARROTS!

DontCallMeBaby · 25/02/2009 21:33

Yes, I thought as much, just like run of the mill children they shrink at the sight of a hairbrush. Not literally shrink, obviously, they're already tiny, just figuratively.

I'm working on my job application ... I've done all the easy bits, now I just have to do a personal statement.

'Just'. Ha.

Jacksmama · 25/02/2009 22:32

Wow, the tea yurt has really had some excitement today!! Much more than me in RL. Laid on couch, reading, while Jackbaby napped. Briefly up but will be lying down again very soon, because CSI New York is on shortly. Jackbaby is toddling around with "his" TV remote (the old one from the VCR).

Pass me some Bolly, please!!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 25/02/2009 22:34

Cheers, jacksmama!

Jacksmama · 25/02/2009 22:37

Cheers to you!!

BLIMEY!!! Have just taken a look outside and it's bloody snowing here!!!! Hard enough to stick to the grass and bushes and trees, if not the road... what the ^&%$!!?????

Jacksmama · 25/02/2009 22:38

[fuming emoticon]

I've had enough of this white crap!!!! This is not why I bought frost hardy pansies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UniS · 25/02/2009 23:02

bloming eck- snowing? Oh well, the yurt should stand it. could make the slide a bit fast ....

Oi baby. No. Thats MINE. Unis pins NMB down and wipes its face with value wipe. that'll teach you to try and swipe my crisps.
little blighters are every where arn;t they. might have to resort to a sheet of plastic slung under their nest like we do with the swallows in Dbs Barn.

Hi justa, nice mongoligan felt jacket and boots, should keep you snug in this snow.

Mellors still hamering and sawing in teh shed, wonder what hes creating out there, sledges?

DCMB, my boy loves his hairbrush! he even tries to brush his own hair, bless'im. Can't stand having his face washed though...

hello again justa - nice to see you - how's that thesis going?

JM - snowimg? well now, somehow, and for once, I agree with you that it's a PITA! I used to love it whenever, but now all I'll be able to think about is the restrictions on me and DS. Glad you are sitting btw, well done

Jacksmama · 26/02/2009 04:28

Just checking in to see if anyone's still up - since it's 4:30 am over there, probably, or may I say, hopefully, not!!

The snow actually stuck. There is (are?) at least two inches on the roads and more on grass and trees. Enough already!!!!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 26/02/2009 09:58

Morning all!

Donk · 26/02/2009 10:19

Lovely - a nice cup of tea before I go and get on with things!
Ooh! There's one chocolate coated carrot left that the NMBs haven't nicked.

Donk · 26/02/2009 10:31

Aaaah, that was a right good bucket of tea MBTD - thankyou.

Dad woke up from the anesthetic to find that nothing had happened - the op was cancelled due to someone else needing emergency head surgery after an RTA.

So back to square one - and waiting to find out whether his op will be Friday or Saturday.

Right - off to work!

daisy99divine · 26/02/2009 10:44

Morning all!

Wow what excitement I missed last night!
by the sounds of the snoring the NMBs are fast asleep in the rafters and the cloth nappies are doing their thing!

pours cup of tea, covers the still swooning CMOT with a nice persian rug, tidies Justa's mongolian hat and boots by hanging them on the faux antler coatrack that has appeared

Right, just off to see what mellors has knocked up made in the shed

Big kisses to your Dad, poor thing, having a GA and then nothing!

thumbwitch · 26/02/2009 12:23

donk - that's unlucky. Hope he is ok after the GA! Also, I think it is a better sign that they can operate, isn't it? Good luck for tomorrow/Saturday.

Am taking my Dad for his 1st dose of radiotherapy on Monday - 7-8 weeks of it, 5days a week - but they hope it will fix his prostate cancer once and for all. Fingers crossed!

amber32002 · 26/02/2009 15:50

Right, where did we want this? And Daisy, why are you looking at us in a disbelieving way??

MT, shall be keeping everything crossed for your dad. Donk, arrggh re your news about your dad. The delays are more stressful than them just getting on with it, I found.

Anyone for a slice of choccy flapjack?

cmotdibbler · 26/02/2009 15:58

Me! Me!

Your poor Dad Donk - can't believe he got under before they cancelled.

TW - good luck to your Dad. He might be being treated by one of my machines they are quality engineering

Good news - I have a shiny new car. Bad news - I have to clear out and clean my old one. Audio books are emerging from every nook and cranny of it

daisy99divine · 26/02/2009 16:04

Pass the flapjacks Amber!

Me, disbelieving?

Let's pop Red Cloud there, near the bottom of the teeny tiny ladders and liana vines and look! There is a special cupped Chief hand for hollding the baby wipes and Look! A splendid nook for putting the hairbrushes on and Look! The Chief even has a niftily carved Orla Keily Nappy Bag on his shoulder to hold all the teeny tiny cloth nappies!

Those Bakes NMB's won't know what's hit them when they wake from their snooze!

Thumb - oh, more Dad woes, good luck!

Donk - don't suppose you will hear more until 3pm?

CMOT - love the nochalent "that could be one of my machines!" - what car did you buy in the end?

Jacksmama · 26/02/2009 16:05

Oh dear, Donk. How awful for your dad. All that anticipation and then nothing. I hope they'll reschedule right quickly.

Thumbwitch, my stepdad had radiotherapy for prostate CA 14 months ago. Same as yours, 5 days a week, 8 weeks. His is completely gone now and he tolerated it quite well. Good luck!

Warning: rant starting...
IT SNOWED here yesterday, and more overnight. I am so tired of this white crap!!! There are inches of it on the ground!!!! Gaaahhhhhhh!!! My flower bed and pansy pots are covered!!!! And it's minus fecking SIX!!!!! It was spring!! And now it's bloody winter again!!!! AAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!

On the upside... the dog-pooey looking piles of old hard snow that were still around in odd corners look a bit prettier... and it's sunny so it's nice and bright out... and it's not like I was going out for a walk or anything [still dutifully resting emoticon]...

cmotdibbler · 26/02/2009 16:15

I bought a Mazda 6 SL estate - 2.2 diesel in Aurora Blue (I know Amber would want the full statistics).

I feel a strange kind of pride when people are being treated on our equipment - oddly, my Dad is the same (but by association) and tells people about the machinery. And even more oddly, apparently they like to feel some sort of personal connection with these zonking great machines that make them a little less scary

JM is that -6F ? or celsius ? I am not a fan of snow, although it's making you rest more

amber32002 · 26/02/2009 16:33

Cmot, 2.2 SL 16v? 182 bhp, 0-60 in 8.5, very decent indeed.

cmotdibbler · 26/02/2009 16:53

Yup - thats the one. With rear view monitoring - uses localised radar to warn you when vehicles are coming up behind you through your blindspot - which is very cool.

Lots of toys to play with, so that will keep me amused for a while

amber32002 · 26/02/2009 17:02

I try never to monitor my rear view. Well, not until this diet works better

Jacksmama · 26/02/2009 17:36

-6 C. That's enough, thank you. -6F would be truly horrific!! That's for people who want to live in Toronto
