A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

Likewise, sorry to hear you aren't well, Mistle. Dizziness has been one of dh's symptoms in his endless illness. Another x-ray on Thurs, he is quite worried ....

WS much better, thank you. I have never seen her eat so much! Still not much energy. Collapses a bit at lunch time and grizzly for the rest of the day.

DontCallMeBaby · 22/02/2009 21:58

Oh no, I didn't intend to scare you with the cake Donk! Cat's is less alarming and, mm, tasty.

I rather enjoy Cakewrecks. I just hope no one discovers that my oh-so-cool online life really consists of hanging out in a virtual tearoom and looking at pictures of amusing cakes.

Donk · 22/02/2009 22:29

Anyone seen Jusatbout? If you are there Justa, could you have a look at my thread in Spirituality/religion ?

thumbwitch · 22/02/2009 22:44

MT - guess you've gone now - but you forgot that the Tea Room champagne is magic and you can drink it however you are feeling.. hope you feel better soon.

DCMB - that cake is hysterical! Have been trying to think of an occasion it would be needed for..

Donk - I hope you get some more positive news about your Dad soon.

Evenin everyone else...

Donk · 22/02/2009 23:13

Night all
Sweet dreams!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 23/02/2009 09:56

Right. Kettle's on the aga, pastries and muffins are in the oven and the organic fair trade muesli is in the handmade-by-potters bowl. Who'd like breakfast?

mistlethrush · 23/02/2009 10:35

Decided I wasn't safe to drive this morning so packed dh off to take ds to school and pick up some work that I need to do at my office. Unfortunately, bad traffic and travel sickness got the better of ds and dh had to come back here after picking up my work to get ds changed before going back to school - having rung school and explained that he'd be late - and talking to his form teacher to OK him going in after he had been sick. Of course ds threw a wobbler and decided that he wasn't going to go to school today and it was 'boring' although he ran in quite happily when he got there... Unfortunately he has inherited travel sickness from both sides of the family - no hope for him really - but it doesn't usually happen on quite such short journies.

MJ has been eating adult sized portions at all of his meals - and having snacks in between. So I think we're going to have another growth spurt soon.

RS hope the xray is OK. I have a friend who has had really bad dizzyness which they can't sort out - but it seems a bit more under control at the moment - and her eyes affect it quite a lot. Its not great if you're not feeling good but no one can suggest what the problem is.

UniS · 23/02/2009 10:36

me please. ear rubs to donk, go faster stripes to Amber and sit down woman to mistle.

I'm lighting a panto this week. OH joy. mirror balls ahoy etc. Dress rehersal tonight. hope I'll be allowed to try out teh smoke machine. tryied it last nigt and stage manager had coniptions as he hadn;t de abled a smoke alarm over teh stage!

see you soon

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 23/02/2009 10:42

Anyone else?

amber32002 · 23/02/2009 10:56

Yes please for pastries, muffins and tea

UniS, you're lighting a panto? That sounds considerably more exciting than my task for this morning, which seems to involve accounts and VAT. Swap??

daisy99divine · 23/02/2009 12:11

Morning all, would love some tea and a little carroty something

Thanks for the Gin CMOT although there seems to be a little less in the bottle than one might expect and a few straws lying around....

Had a top weekend, went to Brighton for the day on Saturday and swimming on Sunday. Finished off with some DIY and oh yes, DaisyBoy managed to get his fingers in teh blender when we were cooking it was truly terrible, but not as bad as Catita's thumbectomy it seems

I am not sure that I coped with flying colours

Amber so glad you and Mr Amber are doing well and glad to see you currently cantering round the parkland - does Mellors need to stand up? Yes, I see.. ok, take care of those ponies!

JM very sensible to do sitting gardening and no work

Mistle you need to do more sitting

Donk I am bleak for you. Don't know what to say, but of course

UniS glad party was good and panto sounds fun, if a little late?

Racing glad WS is catching up for lost food but sorry re RH, hope he's ok

Tea was spending time with cousins being all cultural I thikn, but enough is enough!

CMOT I think taking another child away is a grand plan, I want to do this but DH is a bit less keen....

daisy99divine · 23/02/2009 12:13

UniS- not sure what Coniptions are but hope stage manager is feeling better soon!

OP posts:
daisy99divine · 23/02/2009 12:14

Ooo, just seen madbad thanks for the muesli = what have you been up to?

OP posts:
UniS · 23/02/2009 12:38

pANTO IN rEB? yES SEEMED A BIT ?? TO ME WHEN i MOVED DOWN HERE, hOWVER IT SEEMS dEVON HAS A 2ND PANTO SEASON AROUND ABOUT FEB HALF TERM. oh, sorry, didn;t realise I had caps lock on. oops.
try agian. or maybe I should try a gin?

Any ho. Its the Amateur companies (Ams) who do feb pantos, the Young Framers clubs have a panto competition! among them selves at teh same time. So this lot doing Peter Pan who I'm working for are an Ams who pay a lighting designer / technician to do a proper job. I'm not sniffing at it. Been fun to do some creative lighting . Bit of a shock to the system to have to rig it almost single handed yesterday, I've got used to sending a rig plan and someone else doing the boring bit or I do it as part of a team of 3 +.

WOuld any of you care to join me for lunch on teh sun terrace. its a lovely day here and out of teh wind its pretty warm. Mellors and I have dragged teh garden furniture over to teh terrace for you. WiFi is there for those supposed to be at work. baby monitors plugged in for those with sleeping babaies. And Relax.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 23/02/2009 12:47

Lunch on the sun terrace? Fab!

I'll bring today's batch of soup - red lentil and tomato. Plus lewd rolls.

mistlethrush · 23/02/2009 12:58

Yes please, lunch on the terrace would be good - its rather overcast and damp here.

I want to know why Mellors has been using the dog cart like a scurry cart - or perhaps its a roman chariot?

UniS - I didn't know that they had special clubs for young people that wanted to frame things - I didn't realise that there were enough of them to get together for that sort of thing

cmotdibbler · 23/02/2009 12:59

Ooh lovely On Saturday we (as in friend and I) spent the whole day carrying the coats around as it was really too warm to run around like mad and have a coat on. We even ate lunch outside, and I got a bit sunburnt.

MT - Dh had an inner ear infection last year that did the whole dizzy and spaced out thing. He was prescribed stuff that blocked the balance messages from his inner ear and sorted out the effects of the problem. I think it was viral so you just had to wait for the infection to clear

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 23/02/2009 13:10

I hope we're not going to be unkind to each others about our typos! I am a very bad typist and could have got a job on the Grauniad of old. .

Who'd like more soup?

daisy99divine · 23/02/2009 13:13

love some spou
no unkindness about typos, just some are funny!

there is no unkindness in the tearoom, remember MadBad

OP posts:
MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 23/02/2009 13:22

That was exactly my reasoning, Daisy. And awareness of my own ireegular typing habits!

Hey nonny nonny!

mistlethrush · 23/02/2009 13:24

(sorry, it just made me smile thinking about it)

MadBad - what I want to know is why Mellors seems to have got hotter and therefore removed more clothes since MrAmber went inside and left Amber doing a couple of circuits of the orchard 'on her own', although I suppose that the sunshine could account for it...

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 23/02/2009 13:29

Oh, crikey!

amber32002 · 23/02/2009 13:31

View from the chariot? Splendid. Rather rough over that ploughed field at the back, though. Anyone seen Mr Amber? He hasn't wandered off to the pub down the road unsupervised for a pint of alleged Mineral Water again, has he?

Yes please for soup and lewd roll. Nice pot of tea now brewed to go with it.

daisy99divine · 23/02/2009 14:02

now, I do hope mellors isn't going to get a black eye

OP posts:
MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 23/02/2009 15:53

We must get MrAmber back into the Priest Hole Convalescent Suite as soon as possible!
