Tea room 22- A Farmhouse kitchen, anyone for a cuppa?

974 replies

UniS · 24/01/2011 14:47

Welcome to the 22nd incarnation of the tea room. This time we are watching for spring from a cosy farmhouse kitchen. There is an aga for baking virtual cakes and an inglenook with toasty fire and settles to rest weary bones on. The distressed chintz sofa and footstool have arrived safe and sound and the priest hole is around here somewhere. On the Window sill is an aspidistra its pot surrounded by a hand holding circle of nearly naked mohawk babies, they have placards and a brazier.

Outside in the surrounding fields can be found the tea room horses, Earl and Lady Grey, also a herd of bison AND a Ha Ha to keep the bishops from invading.

Usual rules apply, no fisticuffs, if you want an argument go else where. Mellors the butler / game keeper will supply all sorts of things on request. Welcome Mums of one, none or many to the tea room of requirement.

That's awesome!

(Can you make mazipan figures?)

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 03/02/2011 20:34

Given the FineLad's popularity with the laydeez, I'm more worried about the effect of the man-to-man chat on Mellors.

No need to apologise, Oxeye. I am worried about you. How often are you burning that quantity of midnight oil?

::throws shapes::

CMOTdibbler · 03/02/2011 20:46

That song always makes me think of Good Morning Vietnam

Tee2072 · 03/02/2011 20:53

I'm working at nearly 9. Am I going to get a spanking from Mellors?

::tee looks hopeful::

LCT is on the mend. Mr Tee has now come down with it. At least he doesn't vomit on me. Confused

::dances::

UniS · 03/02/2011 20:57

well Techno I don't work right through too often but I'm regularly at my desk until 1 or 2am. Work has pretty unforgiving deadlines and I like coming home to see Oxboy and Bloke so I try to stop work about 4 or 5 and even do one post school day if I can and prefer not to work through the weekend :: written down it sounds crap doesn't it::

UniS · 03/02/2011 21:05
Did you know we have one of those, its just next to the battered arm chair over there.

Nik kershaw, a we blast frome th past. My lil brother used to have a hair cut like this. But a bit shorter, coz mum wouldn't let him have it so long on top.

Scout19075 · 03/02/2011 21:06

I always try to get my "staff" a thank you gift for helping at any camp or overnight I run/am in charge of, especially when I'm running a test camp. Put on your camper/volunteer hats/pretend you know me & my wacky American ways. Would you appreciate/see the fun in S'more Soap. One year I gave everyone crochet s'mores (and the young leaders were given crochet marshmallows on a stick) and years later they're still talked about....

(I'm running a test camp this summer, so hence the question about little thank you gifts.)

oxeye · 03/02/2011 21:14

Scout I think smore soap is great
cmot good morning Vietnam is an all time face for me

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 03/02/2011 21:20

The Smores soap looks very cool, Scout, but maybe quite expensive if you have to buy a few?

It does sound a bit crap, Oxeye, but I do see the problem. Really I do. Mellors is coming round to spank you, right after he's spanked Tee.

::wonders what sort of establishment the tea room is turning into::

Oh, Nik Kershaw. ::smiles nostalgically::

Although we don't see her often, , who reintroduced me to this band.

Scout19075 · 03/02/2011 21:22

Only need two (QM and First Aider) since I'm doing my Seniors license and there will be, at most, 9 girls. MrScout comes, too, but he doesn't get a present. Wink After three days we'll merge in with the Guides and I'm not in charge any more. Grin Can also send them to Mom's and have Mom post them when she posts s'mores supplies. Wink

CMOTdibbler · 03/02/2011 21:24

I'd like S'more soap.

It reminds me that we have kept saying that we have to buy Good Morning Vietnam on DVD but forget each time

Tee Shock

Do I make a cake for my mum ? We are having lunch with brother, sil and parents at nice gastro pub on Saturday. But brother won't have arranged a birthday cake.

DS has a sleepover tomorrow - so DH and I both get a lie in. Bliss ! We haven't both had one since he was born

Scout19075 · 03/02/2011 21:28

MrScout STILL on the train.

Tee2072 · 03/02/2011 21:29

Was it something I said? Grin

I am feeling sorry for myself. Saturday is my birthday and it looks like all of our plans are flying out the window as now MrTee has the D&V. He says he'll be fine by Saturday but I hardly think lunch out (can't afford a babysitter for LCT so we do lunch and bring him with) and then dinner at home with cake and champagne is such a good idea for a man with a dodgy tummy.

Ah, well, at least I'm still getting my hair cut and maybe an hour or two of shopping on my own.

Is it your mum's birthday as well, CMOT? Neat.

Scout19075 · 03/02/2011 21:29
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 03/02/2011 21:30

Cmot - If you've got time to make a quick and easy cake, I'd say yes. Brothers always assume sisters will organise stuff like this and I know one shouldn't pander to that, but birthdays need cake.

I loved Good Morning Vietnam. And that thought leads me to

::throws more shapes::

Scout19075 · 03/02/2011 21:31

Ack!

Scout19075 · 03/02/2011 21:32

Oh my!

CMOTdibbler · 03/02/2011 21:39

Mums birthday is actually the 10th, but I'll be in Virginia then.

Will knock up a choccie cake tomorrow. Hope I have enough ribbon to make it pretty

James Brown ! ::fans self: My that man can move

The mac and cheese soap is disturbing, and I can't imagine the smell

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 03/02/2011 21:44

Yes, JB can certainly move, but not in any way that makes me want to fan myself.

Scout19075 · 03/02/2011 21:48

HA!

oxeye · 03/02/2011 21:54

CMOT I say do a quick cake, carrot cake and it's pudding as well if that is an ishoo

Tee that is tough, can you take Sat as "your" day and then do the lunch the week after when you are both feeling well?

Must be birthday time, OxBloke is up for it too, but not around Smile

Ah, Techno, yes, that is some top moving... which leads me neatly to many a good night out ...

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 03/02/2011 22:04

Oh Oxeye, I was watching that very vid last night. Boys in leather kiss girls in pearls, indeed.

::tries to imitate George's hip action::

::quick, ring for an ambulance::

Where is OxBloke now?
