Tea room 22- A Farmhouse kitchen, anyone for a cuppa?

Welcome to the 22nd incarnation of the tea room. This time we are watching for spring from a cosy farmhouse kitchen. There is an aga for baking virtual cakes and an inglenook with toasty fire and settles to rest weary bones on. The distressed chintz sofa and footstool have arrived safe and sound and the priest hole is around here somewhere. On the Window sill is an aspidistra its pot surrounded by a hand holding circle of nearly naked mohawk babies, they have placards and a brazier.

Outside in the surrounding fields can be found the tea room horses, Earl and Lady Grey, also a herd of bison AND a Ha Ha to keep the bishops from invading.

Usual rules apply, no fisticuffs, if you want an argument go else where. Mellors the butler / game keeper will supply all sorts of things on request. Welcome Mums of one, none or many to the tea room of requirement.

um, not wanting to entirely out myself here but Oxbloke Smile is off and away Wink

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 03/02/2011 22:12

'Salright. I don't expect you to publicise his itinerary. Is this another of his trips to the Limpopo?

::am reflecting on how bereft my 80s evenings would have been without dancing to George in my pearl earrings::

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 03/02/2011 22:18

Ah, the 80s. .

oxeye · 03/02/2011 22:24

ahh that's a toon I hadn't heard for a while!

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 03/02/2011 22:29

Me neither, but now I'll have to download it for me iPod.

Have my monthly hospital appointment tomorrow -- bets on if I lost weight again and if so how much?

Tee2072 · 04/02/2011 07:24

Well, LCT seems all better. MrTee not so much. I am still making a birthday cake for myself tonight though, dammit!

Scout, I take it losing weight is bad? I hope it's not too much.

Hi all... just venturing in. My son is nearly 2 and will almost certainly be an "only" child, by choice (although we are no spring chickens so having another wouldn't be a given, not that it ever is). I think this is the prime age for "having another child" pressure, so it's nice to chat with others with one child.

My Mum cracked me up by saying - I don't think he should be an only child, but I think he's best as a younger child, so you should adopt an older child. She was joking about the pressure you get to have more children. She rocks, by the way.

What is the easiest way to keep up with a thread in Mumsnet?

Tee2072 · 04/02/2011 07:56

Hi Spice. You keep up by neglecting your child and your house. Grin

Honestly, some days I just don't bother to keep up at all. No one minds!

SpiceWeasel · 04/02/2011 08:04

LOL Tee! He's in bed (I'm not in the UK).

Technically is there a way to show new messages - I just found the Watch thing though, that should help :) Not sure what "I'm On" means.

SpiceWeasel · 04/02/2011 08:04

Oh and as for the house... oh well - ha.

CMOTdibbler · 04/02/2011 08:17

The 'I'm on' will show you threads you've posted on. You are very welcome to the tea room, which magically adapts to any time zone, as we already have a very international contingent

Fingers crossed for no more weight loss Scout. I hope Amber is firmly attached to the sofa ::taps foot::

Cafe und kuchen ?

amberlight · 04/02/2011 09:22

Amber is firmly attached to the study comfy chair with a large cuppa, a cat and a numb underarm (which is weird but quite funny).

Yes please for whatever's going

CMOTdibbler · 04/02/2011 10:15

I'm sat here working with left arm attached to the sofa leg via a long stretchy band. This high tech device is supposed to help me stretch my elbow joint and build up muscle. Combined with the new neoprene glove with elastics to hold my fingers up, I look like a very specialist interest magazine. If that includes a runny nose Hmm

amberlight · 04/02/2011 10:23

We make a right pair, lol! Can I pour you a hot choc??

BoffinMum · 04/02/2011 11:06

Put that hot choc away. I have discovered Pimms Winter Cup.

Mellors is currently bringing around silver shooting cups with it in, apple and orange slices bobbing teasingly on the top, and a citrussy aroma filling the kitchen.

(His muscles ripple ever so slightly as he hefts the tray full of shimmering drinks towards the ladies before him).

I have also donated a cunning little mid morning snack made of quince paste and almonds that goes perfectly with the Winter Cup. Pop one little ball in our mouth and feel the satisfaction spread through your body.

amberlight · 04/02/2011 11:09

oh go on then....just a morsel or two....

CMOTdibbler · 04/02/2011 11:30

I can be tempted..

Nice to see Mellors has been out hunting today - he does cut a fine figure in the breeches and coat Grin

Niiiice emoticon. Grin

I always think it is brilliant how he can straddle a horse for hours and them come away still smelling of Geo Trumper aftershave rather than horse.

Tee2072 · 04/02/2011 12:11

That's the best emoticon ever! Wine Wine Wine

amberlight · 04/02/2011 12:14

Scout19075 · 04/02/2011 13:59

amber, I do hope you're staying on that comfy chair with the cat and not doing anything.

Had substitute doctor today. Didn't like him at all. Good news I'm not going to every other month rather than every month. YAY! And (drumroll please) I have maintained my weight. WAHOO! First month since August I haven't lost nearly 5 lbs. WAHOO!
