The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

YES PLEASE. I've finished the planning application and submitted it. HURRAH, that def calls for a cuppa tea along with you Amber.

ON line application wasn't as bad as I feared. made it much easier to get plans etc right and not have to do endless photocopies. Now i have to wait 10 days and see if planning authority accept it or demand extra documents before they will consider it.

Hey- I did something brave this morning. I bought some new clothes. Went to farm supply store to get some waterproof bib and brace and nails and things. Came out with those thing s AND 2 new long sleve Tops. A bit more girly than my normal T-shirts/ sweatshirts.
Currently waiting to hear if I'm working lunchtime or not.

amberlight · 20/01/2011 12:01

Yay re planning application situation. What colour are the tops?

Tee2072 · 20/01/2011 13:50

Hey all.

Mum finally off to the wilds of Africa. Small boy being allowed to watch way to much In The Night Garden so I can get some work done (just taking a break).

Amber glad you feel some better!

UniS Hooray on submitted applications!

Really should get back to work while LCT is distracted by the Ninky Nonck...or however you spell it.

MyrrhyBS · 20/01/2011 13:53

Well done UniS! :)

Bit late for breakfast now, but quiet mutter is fine, although I can also offer this grace:

(To the tune of the superman theme)
Thank you father for our food
Thank you father for our food
Make us grateful for every plateful
Thank you father for our food

Am feeling a lot happier now, was very brave and made some phone calls to address issues and resolve problems at church. Bloody knackered though...

amberlight · 20/01/2011 14:02

(I was hoping for the Thunderbirds theme, personally Grin )

Always fancied one of those big pink Rolls Royces. Is one of those allowed in the new denomination, with a chauffeur? (Mellors, naturally).

Hooray re the bravery and phone calls!!

Tee, children's programmes are now a mystery to me. I'm intrigued enough to go and look that up!

MyrrhyBS · 20/01/2011 14:59

Nah, pink is banned. Not unless its rose pink and then only 2 times a year! :o

Catitainahatita · 20/01/2011 15:15

Hiya all.
So much has happenned, as usual I can't keep up, so apologies to all and sundry. I thought my new superdooper gaget would allow me to MN out of office hours and thus make it easier for me to chat with you all. But not: the Blackberry attracts far too much attention from Kittenito and Gatita. I have to hide in the kitchen... and then every time I start posting something a scream or cry or a whimper of "Mami G's hitting me" puts an end to it all. Still, I shall perserve. It's definitely more discrete than the laptop which inevitable provokes requests to watch "Cars", "Pocoyo" and the like.

A belated hug to Thumb: what a nasty shock for you. I think perhaps MrT lied because he was ashamed (and as you say very contrite). He knew he'd been in the wrong and didn't want to admit it.

Non-aggressive hugs to the inmates of the Church of St. Mellors (Priest Hole diocese). I hope today goes better for you.

I've just seen the Riven thing. It sounds like a no-win situation for her... the publicity hopefully will get the council to be more supportive but for how long? She is a very remarkable women with a very difficult life.

amberlight · 20/01/2011 15:15

No pink? Shock

Oh my!

Purple it is, then...

Scout19075 · 20/01/2011 17:03

Cocktails anyone?

amberlight · 20/01/2011 17:05

Yes please! Smile

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 20/01/2011 18:32

Could I have a cocktail, please?

Riven's situation has had a lot of media coverage today - Today programme and PM and probably a lot more, just on R4. I've never posted on her threads but she seems a remarkable person and I hope something good comes out of this for her, her daughter and everyone else in a similar situation.

Catita - Can you get R4? This morning's In Our Time was about the Mexican revolution.

Amber - Be careful. Churches where the bishops swan around in chauffeur driven limos often seem to end badly, although no doubt the Church of St Mellors will be different. In sos many ways. Ahem.

UniS - If the books are boring then you should say so. I always did.

::wonders whether to run an evening class in How to be a pushy parent::

MyrrhyBS · 20/01/2011 20:02

Does that mean in my role of bishop I can't have my Bugatti Veyron either? Aw, shame :(

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 20/01/2011 20:18

Not up to me, Myrrhy. I'm just a member of the congregation wondering where the collection money is going. Is this going to be the Church of St Jeremy of Clarkson?

::faints with shock::

NorfolkNChance · 20/01/2011 20:36

ARGHHHHHHHHH

Scout19075 · 20/01/2011 20:37

::Signs up for Techno's class:: Though, to be fair, I think I'm doing okay so far.... I need to stick up for myself a bit more though I am very good at fighting my corner medically (I think because the US culture is a bit different and you have to do your own coordinating of appointments, etc.). I definitely fight BabyScout's corner medically.

Doctor's appointment tomorrow -- can't wait and hope they can do something about my fingers. Don't mind the little splits but the two big ones are driving me mad. Took to using band aids today cuz I got tired of bleeding everywhere but the band aids keep getting caught on things (like nappy tabs and BabyScout).

Went to museum in Ye Ol' Uni town today only to find they were full (despite not having to sign up ahead of time AND being early Hmm). Since I had already paid for parking BabyScout and I headed over the river into the City Center and had juice and pastries instead. Oh, and a bit of shopping. Nephew's birthday present purchased and after a massive bargin switched what I was going to do for my Guiders for Christmas. (Seriously, 79p down from £4.99 -- you can't go wrong!) Then had lunch with my friend (which is always good fun).

When do our babies stop looking/feeling like they're heavier every hour? After every nap or every time I get him out of the car I SWEAR he's grown/put on weight.

Scout19075 · 20/01/2011 20:38

Bloody cross out!

Scout19075 · 20/01/2011 20:39

::Passes out cocktails to all in need and even those not in need but with a desire::

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 20/01/2011 20:42

Cocktail sounds rather nice. Something strong, but comforting. Wriggle has been basically vile today ... funny how now that she has finally fallen asleep, little snippets of loveliness keep coming back to me.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 20/01/2011 20:44

Hello Norfolk. Do you want to offload about the, ahem, friends or is it best to just down the cocktail in one and forget?

Scout - About the fingers. This isn't really the answer, but if you have plasters on your fingers, go to Superdrug and buy their finger bandages to put over the top. They're like tiny socks for fingers and are really good at stopping the plasters from unravelling or getting stuck to other things. (Don't buy the Boots version because it's far more fiddly to get on and is too floppy to do any good). I discovered this after I nearly severed my finger ::dramatic exaggeration:: at Brownies last week.

I think I'll join Norfolk in a cocktail. It'll have to be a jolly big glass. Boom boom.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 20/01/2011 20:46

Oh no, Serpent. Why do you say that?

::gently weeps::

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 20/01/2011 20:46

Incidentally, where are we going to go next? Not quite time for English Spring yet, but feeling a bit homesick.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 20/01/2011 20:47

Perhaps we could be in your polytunnel with Mellors? If you'll have me.

::continues to weep::

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 20/01/2011 20:48

I know that I would adore MissTechno in my class - she must be year 3 or 4?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 20/01/2011 20:50

That is definitely telepathy - I was just thinking the same. Hmm
