The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

oh, not that new then. Have you not read it before. Its a good un isn't it.

Can you pass teh port and Stilton over please. I need something sustaining on a wet and wild night. Shouldn't be surprised if the bottom of the village is flooded by Friday.

Jacksmama · 13/01/2011 04:58

Holy cow, what a stormy day!!! Not a drop of sun to be had. Sheets of rain. Buckets of rain. Torrents of rain. Gale-force winds.
But a fun day at the Maui Ocean Centre. See pics on FB, can't upload them to MN profile from iPhone.

LaVie, I am Blush to admit that I acquired another pearl necklace. This one a fakey (so ridiculously cheap) but a double strand of multicoloured, small, multi-shaped freshwater pearls. I should be done shopping now. Really should. Blush

I have dropped off fb can someone make a comment which then gets emailed to me as a link!? I need to see the bejeweled jm!

I was once in Maui. tWas brillig. But mossies the size of small elephants !!

UniS yes the 6 o'clock wall hits here too. He's knackered but full of pent up running about energy. Heaven knows how he'd be at a school where he sat in a classroom! We have had "helpful" behaviour like dusting the kitten and washing the Walls. Both a bit disastrous. The former exacted quite high personal injury and blood loss quotient too Grin

oxeye, try putting "groups" in the facebook search thingy at the top of the page, and it might reveal groups that you thought you'd dropped off. I think it's the new Profile on FB - it tells me I'm not a member of any, but I still am and that's how I find them now. Odd, but true.

UniS · 13/01/2011 14:38

dusting teh kitten.. nice idea. I take it teh kitten objected?

SO far today I have walked home-school-home 3 times. I have one trip left to do. certainly getting my exersise today. drop off, meeting with SALT , dinner lady shift and next pick up.

Boy has worked VERY hard over last 6 months and SALT reassessed him and discharged him from her list. Hurrah, he's up to age appropriate level. School however are not intending to let it slide and have plans for a "speech group" which boy will be part of, who will do a weekly small group session.

Jacksmama · 13/01/2011 17:11

Dusting the kitten?? The mind boggles at the image.

Oxeye, I will have to wait until I get home to post pictures of the bling on MN or the FB TR page, for some reason on the (?!#}}^^!!!!!) iPhone, I can only access and post pictures to my own page, not the Group page. Grrrr. And if I recall, you didn't want to be on any Friend Lists, only the Group, right? Or I would offer to add you to mine, if you want?

Yay, FineLad had his drama written exams today and seems to think he's done OK in them. Phew.

Dusting a kitten??!

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 17:59

Yay, FineLad! How are you feeling, amber?

amberlight · 13/01/2011 18:05

Not sure. Fine after the operation, really. Just a long wait for internal healing to happen. I'm a terrible patient. Very easily bored. Trying not to remember being up a ladder earlier fixing an outdoor light bulb, for example... Blush

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 18:07

::Passes amber her favorite magazines, a fuzzy blanket, her favorite drinks and biscuits and threatens to tie her to the sofa if she thinks about ladder-climbing again::

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 18:11

I'm making Sloppy Joes (with chips and corn on the cob) for dinner tonight -- anyone fancy trying one?

amberlight · 13/01/2011 18:18

ooo yes please!

amberlight · 13/01/2011 18:36

Yum! Thanks!!
I suppose I shouldn't go into work tomorrow really. And booking myself to do a 3 day training course Ooop North soon might be a bit silly. Or agreeing to do the training for the House of Commons fairly soon either...
Hmm. I'm actually useless at resting.

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 18:38

Don't make me come over there and tighten them, Mrs!

amberlight · 13/01/2011 18:41

Yes Miss!

I'm hungry... waiting for MrScout to get back from Governors....

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 13/01/2011 19:02

Oh no. Amber's tied to the sofa. Again.

Oxeye - Does OxBoy's school eschew the mundanity of classrooms then?

Anyone care for a glass of Bolly? It has wonderful medicinal properties.

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 19:21

Yes please, LaVie. ::Passes LaVie her glass::

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 13/01/2011 19:43

::Clinks glasses with Scout::

Cheers!

Catitainahatita · 13/01/2011 19:58

Scout, what is this food. I have looked at the pic and it seems to be mince in tomato sauce on a bun.... I am sure it is a bit more exciting than that. The name sounds cool anyway.

It's cold, drizzly and depressing here. It's 5 degrees outside and by my bedroom themometer it was 12 indoors when I left. After last year, I at least have a duvet and thermal underwear sent by my sister. Even so, I am freezing.

New sympathy for Donki and the cold she had before Christmas with no gas. This isn't as bad, but I think I am more of wimp.

Donki · 13/01/2011 20:39

Catita, I remember all too well freezing in Dubai when I worked there. It was 18 deg C in my flat..... It might have reached the icy low of 12 deg C at night when it got particularly cold.

We had NO heating - and no duvet or blankets. I remember huddling in a towel and a couple of sweatshirts - and turning the oven on, and leaving the oven door open....

It all depends what you are used to. (25 deg C was usually cool during the day in Dubai. Even in winter.)

Donki · 13/01/2011 20:41

The YD was an endangered species this evening - over tired and very giddy and unco-operative. And I had used up all my patience supplies at school.

Does anyone know where I can order patience in wholesale quantities?

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 21:28

(Anyone know how I can get my hand to stop throbbing?)
