The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

(What have you done to it?)

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 21:37

(Well, all the splits from ages ago were trying to heal and every time they get close to doing so they either reopen or fresh ones appear. The one on my index finger knuckle and on my pinky knuckle (but side of knuckle) are THROBBING.)

As for patience, I recommend chocolate or bolly or both. Grin

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 13/01/2011 21:43

Eek, Scout. Have you tried Epaderm? Or even nappy cream?

Or more Bolly?

::waggles bottle temptingly::

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 21:48

Haven't tried nappy cream, but have used breastfeeding cream in the past and that, while taking a few days, helped loads. Think the one on my index finger is a bit puffy/swollen. Grin

Anyone know if Tee's Mom made it?

Yes please, more bolly.

Anyone up to anything exciting (or not) ths weekend?

Scout19075 · 13/01/2011 21:49

That was meant to be Sad not Grin

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 13/01/2011 21:52

::Fills Scout's glass again::

We're going to the ball-ay this weekend. That should be fun. I want to do some gardening but it feels as if this rain will never stop.

CMOTdibbler · 13/01/2011 21:59

What are you going to see LaVie?

Consultant today pronounced my wrist to be beyond help, and will fuse it in 6 months if it is still painful. He isn't hopeful on the finger front either Sad

Now I have to decide what to do about the original hospital who left me with knackered fingers

Jacksmama · 13/01/2011 22:05

Oh dear god CMOT :( :( :(
I feel sick just thinking about your wrist :(

OP posts:
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 13/01/2011 22:08

We're going to see the Matthew Bourne Cinderella.

Oh drat about the wrist and fingers. I think I might have missed some of the back story here. Are some of the problems you have now caused by inadequate treatment at the first hospital?

Does Bolly help?

::waggles bottle seductively::

Donki · 13/01/2011 22:16

Oh CMOT!
You poor thing. That's horrendous!

CMOTdibbler · 13/01/2011 22:18

Oooh, that looks fantastic LaVie, I was watching a segment about it on TV.

They failed to notice that I had compartment syndrome after surgery3. Which has resulted in some hand muscles dying.

Bolly would be lovely

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 13/01/2011 22:30

::Proffers a large glass of Bolly and a dish of Supreme de Twiglet::

Eek, Cmot. Can't think of anything to say that hasn't been said already and/or isn't wholly inadequate.

I do love the ballet. We don't go very often though.

::practices pirouette::

UniS · 13/01/2011 22:52

Are you taking smalltecnicolour to see Cinderella? WAs chatting to DH about taking Boy to see a ballet sometime, Think Cinders , Nutcracker or Fil Mal Gardee ( sp??) would be resoanble first ballets for a child who isn't very brave about mild peril. He has seen nutcracker on Youtube, the royal opera house production from a couple of years back is all up there.

AMBER- get back on that sofa... Oh, you were just going to bed were you?? so why do you have a tea towel in your hand.

CMOT- bummer. Did the worlds uglyist mitten every reach you through the snow bound postal service? of do you think some postie is using it as a hat .

Ox- reception class don;t normally do MUCH sitting still do they. Boys seems to be an extension of preschool in many ways. Only difference is the words on the visual time table that say " independent learning " instead of "free play" and teh addition of assembly and play time in teh big playground with bigger boys to play football with.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 13/01/2011 22:57

Yes, we'll be going en famille. We rarely go to the thee-ay-ter and never go to the ball-ay without MissTechno. Which limits our choice a bit, but as she's the one taking a zillion forms of dancing lesson it would be a shame to leave her at home.

::doles out more Bolly::

Catitainahatita · 13/01/2011 23:05

Good grief CMOT that's awful. I wish there was something I could say that could make things better. :(

oxeye · 13/01/2011 23:31

Hmm. Cmot. Pm me or email. I have some ideas. Poor poor you
oxb doesn't seem to sit still. Roaming is the order of the day. And the table he sits at is so small when I asked what the others did / said it mostly seems to be "get off my bit of paper" or thereabouts
re theatre trips. We are having serial getting used to changes crises. I miss OxPoppins

and no, to say the kitten didn't like dusting would be an understatement. Of considerable proportions. Hence the blood

scout. Use spray plaster on your cracks. Stings like billy-o when it goes on but forms enough of a seal to sort of mesh it up again

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 13/01/2011 23:44

::Clasps Oxyeye to her Christmas-inflated bosom::

Hello, stranger. So, has OxPoppins gorn, then? Will there be a new OxPoppins? OxMcPhee perhaps?

Have a Bolly.

::alluring::

Catitainahatita · 14/01/2011 00:01

Hi Oxeye. Nice to bump into you here. Is the start of school the reason why Oxpoppins has gone?
How are you coping with the loss and the start of school?

Jacksmama · 14/01/2011 03:21

Scout, when we talk about your shipment of protein bars, do you want me to investigate what I can find for your poor hands? This sounds horrible, but Zim's Crack Cream is fab for cracked heels and hands. Contains urea so stings like a mad bastard when you first put it on, but works a treat.

Low point of an otherwise lovely day (neighbourhood cafe for breakfast, nap for JM, pool with JB) was when JB pulled pulled out the drawer in our bathroom. It landed on my foot. For a second I didn't know if I was going to faint, vomit, wet myself or all three. Am sat on the balcony with ice on it. Not Impressed. Hoping the mahooooosive bruise will settle by tomorrow.

amberlight · 14/01/2011 06:56

CMOT, arrrghh re hand. Grr. What will fusing it achieve, dare I ask?

JM, how's the foot doing now?

LaVie, thank goodness the main gardening contractors here have yielded some results in the otherwise soggy garden. No chance of me getting out there to do anything useful.

CMOTdibbler · 14/01/2011 09:20

Fusing my wrist would mean that it still didn't move, but that I could apply force to it and it wouldn't hurt as the yukky bits would be bypassed with a big metal plate.

UniS, can't believe I forgot to thank you for the mitten - it is lovely, so now I have a choice of two mittens to wear which is fab.

Am about to phone up to see about cool remote control for the car so I can control everything from the steering wheel

Scout19075 · 14/01/2011 09:52

Oh CMOT. Sad Don't know what else can say, really.

Would it be selfish of me to pack BabyScout into the car and go to the garden center today for a sandwich and to look at the fish (they have tanks the size of swimming pools with windows BabyScout height). I can't face a day at home all by myself (with BabyScout, of course).

CMOTdibbler · 14/01/2011 10:05

DS loves a trip to the garden centre, so I'd go for it Scout

amberlight · 14/01/2011 10:20

Controlling everything from the steering wheel? Cool. Better if they had managed to fix your hand, though,

Scout, get thee to the aquarium and sandwich selling place!

In the office, sitting quietly. Been told off three times already just for looking at things that need lifting or shifting, so no chance of actual naughtiness.

Scout19075 · 14/01/2011 10:24

BabyScout's still very portable. Grin I remember how fascinated by the fish he was last time we were at this particular center (a few months ago), which is why I thought of going there. Don't need anything from the center, but a bit of entertainment/fresh air (it's chucking buckets here)/adult interaction would be nice.
