Naps at nursery when bf

I’m just after a bit of nursery-related advice, if you’re bfeeding and not doing dummies how do you deal with naps at nursery? DS 9 mos was tired and tearful at his settle and they asked me if he has a comforter but he doesn’t - well, he does - me. I know, I have made a rod for my own back etc. etc. but I’m still feeding him to sleep for naps most of the time. Or he falls asleep in the car. Obviously neither possible at nursery. Would you try to introduce a comfort blanket or something to take with? If so, how?

Most of the children I look after don't cry when I put them down for a sleep. A few have done over the years, but it's usually just a tired grizzle while they settle. I try really hard to make sleep time a positive experience for them.

DS was fine today. A few tears at drop off but soon settled after some weetabix and he had a 40-minute nap after a bottle and some cuddles. Very relieved and hope tomorrow is also good!

Knowing I had to go back to work when DCs were 3 months old I contacted childminder before and tried to work to her routine for DC1 feeding/naps etc etc then with DC2 (same childminder) I didn't follow childminder routine, having 2 DC and working full time it just went out of the window, they both settled fine in the end. Don't worry OP if you do or don't it'll all be fine anyway.

My little girl went to nursery at 9 months, exclusively breastfed and she fed to sleep, I was dreading it! She didn’t have a dummy or comforter as she didn’t want them. Luckily they quickly got her into a routine and she would sleep in a rocker and she now has two hour naps in a bed! They are so adaptable and once they see others doing it they pick it up quick.

You’ve done a BRILLIANT job feeding him, please don’t think otherwise!

I’m a term breastfeeding mum and a nursery either of long standing. Honestly they do far better than you’d think! I’d send a nightie or tee shirt you e worn the day before in as a snuggle and trust that he’ll be cuddled a plenty or walked in a pram to support him.

Hugs. It’s hard xx
