Good morning. Come and chat. Somewhere to escape to if the rest of life is too overwhelming..or just to relax.

I am trying to put very fiddly petals on a woolly flower whilst looking out at the magnolia tree which is in full flower.

I can hear a skylark singing when I go out into the back garden. I have to go out for cat food and take a jacket back to tesco because ds doesn't like it.

Is it sunny where you are?

MushroomHunter · 21/03/2022 10:41

Morning, I am working from home today. I go into hospital for a procedure on Wednesday so I am self isolating.

It’s giving me the chance to feel a bit less stressed about everything.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/03/2022 13:50

Skylarks, wow. We are currently under cloud. I have a jacket that ought to go back. Probably won't though. Hate doing that.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/03/2022 13:51

I hope your procedure goes ok...mushroom and you recover quickly.

I’m envious of the magnolia tree and skylarks. I got a bunch of daffodils today with the groceries and they are cheering me up.

I’m very tempted to make a cake but everyone is off sweet things for lent (except me) and I’m not in the mood to make a small one Smile

BoardLikeAMirror · 21/03/2022 15:37

Hello everyone. Nothing much happening for me at the moment (which is the way I like it) - routine day at work - just joining to hear what others are up to.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 21/03/2022 16:22

I've done two loads of laundry and had them outside for a while. It's still quite cold though. I need to change the bedding. Took jacket back and got myself some pyjama bottoms and tee shirts for bed. Ds wants to go to Army Surplus for a jacket, but they weren't open.

Hope everyone has had a good day 😃

BlackeyedSusan · 21/03/2022 16:24

Magnolia tree is in a shared garden and is living on borrowed time. Not having control over what happens is upsetting. there is someone who likes to cut everything back to stumps before they've finished flowering even.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 21/03/2022 16:35

Oh that would be upsetting to worry about the magnolia tree. Why does someone have more rights over it than you?

FairiesAngels · 21/03/2022 22:55

Hello I'm posting to see if this account is working. I tried 4 times to post a new thread and it keeps failing (new account set up for this)

I read this sub every day. Only just getting the confidence to post.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/03/2022 23:21

Hi fairies... welcome.

we had a winter looking at a brick wall and sticks instead of an evergreen bush as someone decided they woudl chop it back to stumps. lost the berries, and the following spring flowers and this autumn's berries as it did not flower.

LilyRed · 21/03/2022 23:38

@BlackeyedSusan can you have a word with the plant chopper ? nick their shears or secateurs - do you want me to do it? Grin

This sort of thing infuriates me as anything chopped now unless it SHOULD be Spring pruned will not only lose its flowers but the ability to shelter wildlife, gggrrrrrrr

I haven't heard a skylark since we left England nearly 8 years ago Sad, wrong sort of countryside: 10 million gulls and terns, a mob of jackdaws and the same of rooks and magpies, wood pigeons and some tawny owls at night with the mad noisy ducks on the pond down the hill. Occasionally in summer there is a rare glimpse of a pair of eagles - either over from Arran or down from the Mountains in Argyll

The shrubs I put in (newbuild - yuck) are starting to pay off and we have a pair of wrens, noisy robins, mr and mrs blackbird and mr and mrs thrush, plus some chaffinches and great tits.

Clarice99 · 22/03/2022 18:10

What a lovely, calming thread 😊

Watching/hearing the birds and appreciating plants and trees is such an underrated pastime. Taking time out to do these small things evokes a sense of peace.

I hope the magnolia tree survives @BlackeyedSusan

Welcome to @FairiesAngels

Was really quite warm here today, 18 degrees! Me and the kids went for a walk over the fields hoping to see the sheep but they must be on the farm ready for lambing or have maybe already lambed.
We saw lots of butterflies and we sat in a big clover patch looking for 4 leaf clovers.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 22/03/2022 19:53

I'm really chuffed for my youngest son, who's aspergers, because he's been given an apprenticeship 😃

BoardLikeAMirror · 22/03/2022 19:57

That's great news, BarrowInFurness. You must feel very proud of him!

Clarice99 · 22/03/2022 20:07

Excellent news @BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation 😊

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 22/03/2022 20:11

Good news BIFRS!
In a bit of a twist I am actually rather near Barrow In Furness for work reasons. It is a beautiful part of the country, although it can be bleak when wet.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 22/03/2022 20:17

I've never been to Barrow In Furness 😆😆😆

Cleanbedlinen12 · 22/03/2022 20:24

What a nice thread. Just the thing with a nice cuppa and a cozy bed.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 22/03/2022 20:39

I love going into bed early with a cuppa 😋 I got some baklava in Lidl so now the bed is full of crumbs ☺️

Clarice99 · 22/03/2022 20:50

A cuppa in bed is bliss. But a bedtime cuppa is a thing of the past for me as it means multiple trips to the loo throughout the night. I have to confine tea drinking in bed to mornings only.

Baklava, hhmmmmmm, I love it ❤️

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 22/03/2022 20:54

The cats have me up in the night wanting to do stuff 😄
