Sorry to hear that. But welcome along, and what a beautiful username.

crackdoom "The Oddities" would be a great painting....non tonal random coloured tulips!

EmmaH2022 · 01/04/2022 14:12

Sorry, that second comment was for LilyRed.

BoardLikeAMirror · 01/04/2022 15:32

I've never seen that type of duck before either, Barrow. Just Googled to check they really do have black heads and it's not just the way my monitor is rendering the photograph. The ducks near me have green heads.

Mrspepperpoi · 01/04/2022 16:22

Anyone else ever feel that people just treat you differently based on your neurodivegencr? I'm having a bit of a hard day with that today. Sometimes even making polite small talk with strangers means being looked at like I have 2 heads, sucks sometimes. Hope everyone else had a better day

BoardLikeAMirror · 01/04/2022 17:09

I've not had a great week either @Mrspepperpoi - sympathies Flowers .

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 01/04/2022 17:59

@EmmaH2022 yes they're big, easily confused with a small goose.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 01/04/2022 18:02

Could the birds you saw be Mandarin Ducks?

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 01/04/2022 18:05

@BoardLikeAMirror yes, they have green heads, it's because I was so far away. I love birds 😃

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 01/04/2022 18:12

@Mrspepperpoi yes, I experience this as well, it's why I dread anybody speaking to me when I'm out.

The neighbour opposite me has started trying to speak to me again after I've been blanking her for the past two years. I know it's rude, but she's so horribly nosey and caught me off guard one day when I was very depressed and it freaked me out. I absolutely can't stand her. She's so chatty and has a voice which goes right through you - strident, high pitched and raucous 😖 she can detect neighbour movement from a mile away and catches the other neighbours as well, who can't be bothered with her either - I've seen them walking away from her as she's talking to them. So flippin' nosey.

Yes! Thank you!
BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 01/04/2022 19:31

Mandarins are so beautiful. They're not native to the UK, but escaped from wildfowl centres quite a while ago now. I've seen them on the river near me.

Yes, I was really charmed when I saw them last year, but no one I asked could identify them - though I realise now I should have shown the pics to one of mum's neighbours.. She's 86 now but used to do a lot of walking holidays etc and she's good at this sort of thing.

I hope I see them again!

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 01/04/2022 20:34

Here's one to keep you going 😃

Oh, that's so sweet! A lovely photo!

EmmaH2022 · 01/04/2022 20:53

Thank you Barrow
Did you take that pic? Amazing!

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 01/04/2022 21:15

Oh no, I didn't take the pic, just googled then took a screenshot 😃

LilyRed · 01/04/2022 23:05

Mandarin ducks are so pretty, I haven't seen one in years. We get an assortment on the coast here, my favourite are eider ducks, but I haven't been down to the bay where I usually see them.

@Mrspepperpoi I'm sorry you were treated badly - I think everyone here could say they get it once in a while, the look as if we have two heads! It really isn't you, it is them, but it can also be upsetting. Please don't take it to heart. I do think people have become ruder since Covid and lockdown as well.

@EmmaH2022 I shall pick a vase and take a picture for you - or would you prefer pictures of individual tulips? I saw a lovely watercolour today of a line of tulips.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 02/04/2022 08:46

Fluffy and stripey. I think this was taken close to their dinner time, when they generally descend upon me and do staring until I get up and feed them 😆

EmmaH2022 · 02/04/2022 19:21

LilyRed how kind. i'm happy with any pics!

Loving the cat pics.

Barrow that nosey neighbour sounds awful. Why do people behave like that?

Have managed to do some work on my side business but very little housework. Well, I've done some stuff...still have aches from the bug, I guess.

There might actually be some progress on my move but I'm reluctant to do any related jobs as I'm superstitious about it.

Mrspepperpoi · 02/04/2022 20:03

@BoardLikeAMirror I'm so sorry you also haven't had a good week. Hope today has been a good day for you Flowers

@BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation your neighbour sounds awful. I feel exactly th same way about speaking to a lot of people now especially when you are just judged all the time

@LilyRed thank you for your kind words means a lot

Mrspepperpoi · 02/04/2022 20:06

Well we haven't set an exchange date and it's all going slowly...

I'm still thinking the vendor might pull out. They've returned more forms but they aren't properly completed.

I offered at the end of Jan but they are slow. Estate agent reckons at least six more weeks to see potential exchange. I tend to be pessimistic and then if stuff works out, it's a win! It feels like a weird limbo though.

Re the judgey thing. My boss said she feels like any deviation from a socially accepted norm is now seen as bad or eccentric. She's about 65. Interesting to hear that.

I tend to think people don't mean a lot of what they say on social media. It's almost a knee jerk response.
