Lily Allen - she really is an unpleasant woman isn't she?

And all her music sounds the same, talky shite.

Sorry if you like her but DH was just reading her opinions on various people and she is quite ugly in her opinions. Add this to the other things i have read or seen her say in interviews.

Aitch, I'm not a musical person at all and would rather walk naked down the High Street than sing live. For that alone, she deserve respeck. That whole performance however 'made' New Years Eve for our party. Fabulously awful.

beanieb · 06/07/2009 11:33

lol - wasn't trying to disprove a case, just linking to the song. She did it at Glastonbury (First time I had heard it) and he was watching. Was really lovely.

harpsichordcarrier · 06/07/2009 11:33

blimey that performance is awful
I read that Observer article and went :-0 because she is just very silly isn't she?
Mouth is open, Lily, should be shut.

Wonderstuff · 06/07/2009 11:34

Thanks for that link beanieb hadn't heard that before. Whats not to love?

SoupDragon · 06/07/2009 11:36

I think that "lady is a tramp" video is dreadful. Very weak voice.

SoupDragon · 06/07/2009 11:37

As for the arrangement not being kind to her range - well, they should have sorted that out!

beanieb · 06/07/2009 11:37

what is teh article people are talking about? I can find this one from December in the Observer.

harpsichordcarrier · 06/07/2009 11:38

sub-karaoke, sub-X factor, and no depth to her voice at all. I don't mind her singing usually, but she murders that song.

Wonderstuff · 06/07/2009 11:41

here

Lots of the quotes are old, they are all out of context and not designed to make her look good. Lazy journo imo

TsarChasm · 06/07/2009 11:42

The Jools Holland video is awful, but this is weird, cos I remember watching that on NYE and thinking it was pretty good. Must've been at the sherry

AitchTwoOh · 06/07/2009 11:43

probably should have, soupdragon, but maybe she just over-stretched herself. it was just one performance.

thing is, she doesn't have to be maria callas, she just has to be better than most of the other freaks out there. and as a package, i'd rather have her than winehouse or britney et al, because she's clever. says daft things, as did we all in our youth, but she is smart.

AitchTwoOh · 06/07/2009 11:45

lol at those quotes. i do think she's funny.

beanieb · 06/07/2009 11:46

ah - not an article then! Just old quotes. I was there during the tit tape comment

TsarChasm · 06/07/2009 11:49

Lol at the quotes though

southeastastra · 06/07/2009 11:50

she makes me laugh, she has attitude, writes her own stuff too doesn't she?

sfxmum · 06/07/2009 11:56

I don't mind her she is young and doing her own stuff she is far less annoying that assorted Barbie dolls in interchangeable girly bands

pagwatch · 06/07/2009 12:05

My only gripe with her is her endless pretence to be a good working class girl (all that 'street' rubbish) when she is a public school girl who really could not have been given a more silver spoon squeeze into the entertainment industry. Yet we are all supposed to belive that she is a girl made good.
And, from the position of wealth and connection, how easy to sneer at the girls who really have had to do the hard yards and have been squeezed into the Britany/Cheryl Cole/WAG/Grazia figures thatthe entertainment industry wants

That said I like her lyrics and she is certainly not cookie cutter entertainment

AitchTwoOh · 06/07/2009 12:07

when has she EVER pretended to be working class? her dad's always been who he is, her mum's a film producer, former stepdad harry enfield etc.

pagwatch · 06/07/2009 12:17

I don't mean pretended as in lied. I know she hasn't concealed her 'heritage' - I just mean the ordinary joe routine in her earlier days.( what was that dreadful song about the streets of london where she grew up ). She does the designer gowns and celeb parties with much less 'gor blimey this is posh' now. And it suits her better - being herself.

I can't stand her or that voice! Didn't she threaten to punch someone??

cyteen · 06/07/2009 12:24

at the idea of anyone willingly listening to Kate Nash.

Swedes · 06/07/2009 12:28

I have a bit of a soft spot for Lily Allen. Those quotes are hilarious.
