Swifties, who would like to join me in the countdown to Life of a Showgirl?

I woke up this morning to a slew of messages from excited Swiftie friends telling me about the new album, I hadn't dared to hope it would be here so soon and now I am ridiculously excited and have my vinyl copy pre-ordered already!
My husband, also a Swiftie, had warned me not to get my hopes up ahead of the release of TTPD last year as he couldn't see how it could possibly live up to her previous albums, fortunately he was completely wrong and I consider it to be among her finest work, one of the best albums I've ever heard! I therefore have no reservations about getting excited about the new album. It will also be the first album since our baby was born, though I THINK she's more of a folklore and evermore girl so she may not be quite as enthused by the possibility of more Max Martin and Shellback collaborations as we are.
Even though we won't be getting Reputation TV now, I hope the vault tracks still see the light of day, when you consider the quality of the 1989 vault tracks just imagine what the Reputations ones must be like! I have high hopes that this new album might have been inspired from work that had already begun on Reputation TV.
Anyway, just wanted to come on here and share my excitement with other Swifties. What are you hoping or expecting from TS12?

How did you pre-order? Are you in UK? It wouldn’t let me order this morning because it was a UK address and the UK version of website did not have any to order!!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 12/08/2025 18:36

A new album?! I knew nothing! Very excited!

howdoyousolvethisproblem · 12/08/2025 18:37

Ignore me!! Just checked UK site again and away to order now … I swear that wasn’t there at 645 this morning

Definitely wasn’t an option to pre-pre-order in the UK this morning! Off to do so now - cannot wait.

Phew, glad it was not just my very poor functioning at that time of the morning.

Can I join? Absolutely excited here. I also really love TTPD.
Was listening to the manuscript tonight and would like to draw your attention to a couple of lines…..

And the years passed
Like scenes of a show
The Professor said to write what you know
Lookin' backwards
Might be the only way to move forward
Then the actors
Were hitting their marks
And the slow dance
Was alight with the sparks
And the tears fell
In synchronicity with the score
And at last
She knew what the agony had been for

This one has been a long time in development I think.

I feel like she's always been an amazing lyricist but that she's hit new highs from folklore onwards. I love how rich dense, and detailed the lyrics on TTPD generally are.
I consider Taylor Swift to be the greatest lyricist in pop music history, a true lyrical poet. People go on about what a great poet Bob Dylan is but, in my opinion, he doesn't hold a candle to Taylor. I unfortunately don't think she'll get the Nobel Prize for Literature like Dylan though since she apparently only writes about silly girly stuff like feelings, relationships, friendships and betrayal, you know, irrelevant woman's issues, not the serious manly topics that the like of Dylan deal in!
Seriously though, I feel that one of the many reasons she is so deservedly beloved by her mainly female fanbase is that so many girls and women can relate to her music and the experiences and emotions she is expressing, since her teens she's been able to beautifuuly and movingly chronicle her experience of girlhood and womanhood in a very honest and personal way.
I am very lucky to be married to a wonderful man who is also a devoted Swiftie so our whole household is excited about the new album, even our baby's wearing her Taylor Swift playsuit today!

Countdown on the website to midnight now

swampwitch0 · 13/08/2025 20:41

Meeeeeee

Purple89 · 13/08/2025 20:45

So excited!!!

Folkwhore · 13/08/2025 20:58

i think the countdown is to the first single.
i’ve preordered the vinyl and hoping for a more upbeat pop sound as 1989 is my fave album
Life of a Showgirl suggests a show/tour could be on the cards but i think too soon for a big tour…….
People on tiktok are saying Vegas residency but i’m not sure that’s her vibe either……..
Who knows with Taylor - she loves to keep us guessing!

FightTheAlchemy · 14/08/2025 06:17

Track listing has been announced! I think your wish for a return to a more pop sound has been granted. I can’t help but wonder if this album was originally intended as album 11 - but then the events that led to the creation of TTPD transpired and so that came first.

SoScarletItWas · 14/08/2025 06:30

Google Taylor Swift - glitter and flame appear all over the search screen! 🔥

Swifties, who would like to join me in the countdown to Life of a Showgirl?
Wirdle · 14/08/2025 06:44

Hi swifties! Looking forward to my commute today to listen to New Heights, though wishing it was a longer drive as it's two hours long.

So excited for new music but the mum in me hopes she's had enough of a break after eras! Do we think she'll tour this one?

user1471548941 · 14/08/2025 06:54

Joining the party! Very excited to hear it was recorded in Sweden- me and my Swiftie best friend made a pact that we would go anywhere in Europe to see Eras and Stockholm was where we ended up!

So in the words of Taylor- I was there!!!!

Mumofyellows · 14/08/2025 06:58

Joining!
I can't wait. Era's was one of the best nights of my life, I hope hope hope she tours again!
It feels a long wait til the album is out...

IWasBornIn1989 · 14/08/2025 07:30

Can’t believe she started working on the new album whilst touring Eras in Europe!

SafeAndStranded · 14/08/2025 09:00

I'm so tired. Stayed up last night for New Heights. I'm so excited (this is the main event) for October.

Folkwhore · 14/08/2025 09:32

Ohhhh so exciting!! Having listened to bits of the podcast now i don’t think a tour is imminent and quite frankly i don’t blame her!!!! So we’ll enjoy the music and the fun for now but my prediction is tour after TS13 because 13 will be huge as its her favourite number (and her birthday) 🥰

Me too, absolutely mind blown by this!

Based on the content of TTPD, there’s no way it could have been fully written until she’d already started Eras in the US and likely recorded towards the end of that leg… she then spent winter reworking the entire show to include TTPD.

She relaunches Eras including TTPD in spring and records ANOTHER album whilst hopping around Europe doing shows….

There was me thinking she must do absolutely nothing between shows (except maybe write….) to be flying back and forth to Sweden to record is mindblowing. The work ethic is absolutely insane. Completely, absolutely insane.

swampwitch0 · 14/08/2025 13:47

Her work ethic is incredible

Absolutely, surely the hardest working woman in pop! I still cannot fathom how she possibly had time to write and record TTPD, all 31 tracks of it, while on her gruelling world tour, the fact that she did and that it was an utter masterpiece, let alone the last minute changes that had to be made to the Eras line-up to accommodate it, it just astonishing.
My theory is that she had never intended to release an album mid-tour. I think she was just going through some pretty heavy emotional stuff with the breakdown of her longest romantic relationship and the brief but apparently tumultuous rebound fling with Matty Healy, and I am guessing she wrote most of the songs while on tour, since it has always been her way of processing her feelings and probably offers her catharsis. Then, having written them, she just wanted to get them recorded and released since, I imagine, by the time TTPD was released she was already moved on from the Matty thing, was in a different emotional and physical place and was ready to just get these songs out there and move on with her personal and professional life.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

I've ordered two of the special edition CDs. Put the order through at about 1.30am while watching the podcast episode, they've now sold out so glad I did!

I think it's going to be an absolute BOP of an album 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

swampwitch0 · 14/08/2025 19:34

Its being released in my birthday week! 😃✨️
