Swifties, who would like to join me in the countdown to Life of a Showgirl?

I woke up this morning to a slew of messages from excited Swiftie friends telling me about the new album, I hadn't dared to hope it would be here so soon and now I am ridiculously excited and have my vinyl copy pre-ordered already!
My husband, also a Swiftie, had warned me not to get my hopes up ahead of the release of TTPD last year as he couldn't see how it could possibly live up to her previous albums, fortunately he was completely wrong and I consider it to be among her finest work, one of the best albums I've ever heard! I therefore have no reservations about getting excited about the new album. It will also be the first album since our baby was born, though I THINK she's more of a folklore and evermore girl so she may not be quite as enthused by the possibility of more Max Martin and Shellback collaborations as we are.
Even though we won't be getting Reputation TV now, I hope the vault tracks still see the light of day, when you consider the quality of the 1989 vault tracks just imagine what the Reputations ones must be like! I have high hopes that this new album might have been inspired from work that had already begun on Reputation TV.
Anyway, just wanted to come on here and share my excitement with other Swifties. What are you hoping or expecting from TS12?

SuburbanLegend · 14/08/2025 19:38

Signing in, I cannot wait!

LeopardsANeutral · 14/08/2025 19:41

Oooh I’m here ready and waiting! Stayed up way too late last night watching the podcast!

McQueensMuse · 14/08/2025 19:52

Ooh I’m in! I stayed up way past my bedtime and ordered two of the deluxe cd sets (one orange, one silver to put away for DD’s Christmas)
The podcast was fantastic, I enjoyed it immensely.

What I would like to know though….the number of new members gained today of all the sourdough enthusiast groups worldwide 😁😁

Thissickbeat · 15/08/2025 20:50

She's changed the dots on the twelve i 's on her letter to sparkly orange stars.

I think the album will tie in with an Eras documentary. The name makes sense. I also assumed she was resting and looking after herself in between shows in Europe, even she acknowledged that leg was pretty full on.

swampwitch0 · 16/08/2025 10:56

Oh! Father figure is one of my favourite George Michael songs 🎵 ❤️

indoorplantqueen · 16/08/2025 11:27

We’re a huge Swifty household- well me and dd. Love d the podcast and pre-ordered the album. I was so excited I actually ordered the vinyl first (thinking 29.99 is a bit much for a CD), then realised what I’d done and went back and ordered CD. I hope there’s a pre sale code in them for any upcoming concerts!
rumours are she will be doing the superbowl as there were lots of hints dropped on the podcast.
excited for the album release!

Interesting long read in the Guardian today. One of the points around all the editions of TTPD is so true - I am a vinyl collector but all the different versions were too much. Pleased just to get one version this time.

I know it isn’t technically music related, but absolutely delighted for her and Travis on their engagement!

So lovely!

I'm late to this because MN is a nightmare to use at the moment! So glad this thread is here

I was so excited when she announced a new album. I did not see that coming at all. I genuinely thought that she was going to go more into production now and behind-the-scenes stuff and maybe even produce a musical or write a film, etc and that there might not be any new music for years.

I have been a fan since the beginning, so I guess we're coming up to 19 years now - and I thought that the immense volume of work she's produced over the years was probably at peak with TTPD.

I'm delighted to be wrong! I really like these two producers too.

I don't really have many thiughts about the album except to say that... I suspect Father Figure might be about "Industry disruptors and soul deconstructors/ And smooth-talking hucksters out glad-handing each other" (isn't that such an underrated song)

But she will prove me wrong and it will just be a lovely song about her pa 😂

The only time I've ever tried to buy something from the website was the Eras tour book. I failed! I think it sold out within two minutes.

This time I wanted to get a CD, and I was very surprised to get that straight away.

Going back to TTPD for a minute, I still really wish we had a video for "my boy only breaks his favourite toys". Taylor wouldn't even need to be in it. My vision - lol - was for the dancers to be the contents of a toy box. So we could have Nutcracker - I think that's Jan's job - and obviously the sickest army doll and they could play out the song lyrics, because they're such brilliant dancers they would do an amazing job. We could have the shadow of Taylor in the background showing her playing with the toys. It would probably amuse her to play the doll where you pull a string and she'll tell you that he runs because he loves me... it's also a really good option for the drummers from TSMWEL to be in a music video too. I think the drums are amazing in MBOBHFT!

Anyway, I feel better now I have shared all that with you guys. Normally there's nothing to look forward to in winter, but there is now!

Have you listened to/watched her New Heights podcast episode? She goes through the tracks there. It’s a long episode but it’s near the end she announces the album, and she talks a bit more about the theme and the vibe (more upbeat than tortured poets!), when it was written and recorded etc

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 29/08/2025 20:24

I actually haven’t. I could probably do so now actually.

You should. If you aren’t interested in the whole thing (it’s 2 hours), the album stuff isn’t too long and just gives a little bit of background, although she doesn’t give much away.

I feel like she's always been an amazing lyricist but that she's hit new highs from folklore onwards. I love how rich dense, and detailed the lyrics on TTPD generally are.
I consider Taylor Swift to be the greatest lyricist in pop music history, a true lyrical poet. People go on about what a great poet Bob Dylan is but, in my opinion, he doesn't hold a candle to Taylor. I unfortunately don't think she'll get the Nobel Prize for Literature like Dylan though since she apparently only writes about silly girly stuff like feelings, relationships, friendships and betrayal, you know, irrelevant woman's issues, not the serious manly topics that the like of Dylan deal in!
Seriously though, I feel that one of the many reasons she is so deservedly beloved by her mainly female fanbase is that so many girls and women can relate to her music and the experiences and emotions she is expressing, since her teens she's been able to beautifuuly and movingly chronicle her experience of girlhood and womanhood in a very honest and personal way.
I am very lucky to be married to a wonderful man who is also a devoted Swiftie so our whole household is excited about the new album, even our baby's wearing her Taylor Swift playsuit today!

Agree, she is an amazing songwriter. She's a talented musician with a good voice (-much improved in the TV re-recordings!) but the thing that really elevates her is her absolutely wonderful way with words.

And I love that the songwriting is the thing that she says matters to her most.

SoScarletItWas · 20/09/2025 08:35

Ooh we get a film! Waiting for details of the UK cinema release but it’s a full album watch party with lyric videos, official Ophelia video, and behind the scenes. Tickets on sale 23 Sept and the film plays 3-5 October ❤️‍🔥

IHadaMarvelousTimeRuiningEverything · 20/09/2025 08:44

I've found my people! So excited for this album! Hoping to get tickets on Tuesday for the cinema show for the 3rd October. Will probably take the afternoon off work. Does anyone else feel like October 3rd is Christmas?!

SafeAndStranded · 23/09/2025 16:32

Just got my tickets for the release party. The first two showings were already sold out at our local Odeon! Now, are we dressing up? (I'm 45, I shouldn't be this excited!)

indoorplantqueen · 23/09/2025 17:33

Got our cinema tickets this PM. Dd and her friend dressing up and my fav colours are green and orange anyway so I’m sorted. Dd making bracelets agsin 🤣

ShesTheAlbatross · 23/09/2025 17:52

Ah I nearly bought tickets but I have no one to go with 🙈

ETA - I do have friends! Just not really swiftie friends. My one swiftie friend has a 4 week old baby so can’t go.

SummaLuvin · 23/09/2025 18:43

I keep going back and forth on it. Part of me thinks it will be fun. But the other part of me thinks it's just a bit of a money grab - lyric videos and music videos are freely available on YouTube at point of release, so why are we being charged for a viewing of those by a literal billionaire? So really what I'm weighing up is whether the 'personal reflections on songs' is worth it. Not sure.

FightTheAlchemy · 23/09/2025 19:54

I’ve booked my tickets! I do understand your reservations @SummaLuvin, but I’m also aware that I always have the best time at anything Swiftie-related and I do enjoy a cinema trip regardless, so I think it’s definitely worth it for me.

InMyShowgirlEra · 23/09/2025 19:58

I'm so ready for it! Got my CD copies on pre-order.
