Swifties, who would like to join me in the countdown to Life of a Showgirl?

I woke up this morning to a slew of messages from excited Swiftie friends telling me about the new album, I hadn't dared to hope it would be here so soon and now I am ridiculously excited and have my vinyl copy pre-ordered already!
My husband, also a Swiftie, had warned me not to get my hopes up ahead of the release of TTPD last year as he couldn't see how it could possibly live up to her previous albums, fortunately he was completely wrong and I consider it to be among her finest work, one of the best albums I've ever heard! I therefore have no reservations about getting excited about the new album. It will also be the first album since our baby was born, though I THINK she's more of a folklore and evermore girl so she may not be quite as enthused by the possibility of more Max Martin and Shellback collaborations as we are.
Even though we won't be getting Reputation TV now, I hope the vault tracks still see the light of day, when you consider the quality of the 1989 vault tracks just imagine what the Reputations ones must be like! I have high hopes that this new album might have been inspired from work that had already begun on Reputation TV.
Anyway, just wanted to come on here and share my excitement with other Swifties. What are you hoping or expecting from TS12?

@FightTheAlchemy yeah, that's part of the reason I'm considering it, Swifties are such a good vibe!!! I also adore the 'making of a song' series she did for Reputation and this sounds like a similar idea, and Rep & Showgirl seem to have a lot of parallels - and now I'm talking myself into it. I'm not trying to yuck someone else's yum.

Got my ticket! I’m going on my own @ShesTheAlbatross AND I’m going to wear the only orange thing I own, which is a sequin dress bought for some long-forgotten fancy dress reason - knew it would come in handy again!

Tried to get DD a cd just now with the signed print. Got one into my basket straight away but it was gone before I could complete check out one minute later. Sold out in UK in about 30 seconds. Thanks bots 🤨

I think it's like the book

There was hardly any stock allocated for the UK

Is my CD supposed to arrive on Friday? Does anyone know?

i've got too much on at the moment to really think about other stuff, but I guess I can go to the film at the weekend if it's on near me.

A local lady very kindly invited me to go along with her daughter on Friday, but Friday is not an option for me - shame as I would've liked some company

edit – it might also be the kind of thing that's better to watch bit by bit at home home. If it's just the usual background songs and the making of videos and stuff. I'm a bit unclear what it actually is to be honest.

IWasBornIn1989 · 28/09/2025 23:14

We actually got the book first time around. Have booked the cinema for next week, it looks very quiet! I think it might be a bit boring tbh but DD wants to go.

EmeraldRoulette · 28/09/2025 23:18

@IWasBornIn1989 i've got friends in the US who could just walk into target and buy it. We did have a conversation about them sending me one but it's a lot of weight to pay for and then I think I'd have to pay customs at this end.

I think there's still some on eBay for about 80 quid, but that seems excessive

I'm sure I went on some kind of waiting list via email but I never heard from them and I can't imagine they're planning a reprint

I don't think the cinema will be booked out so if I suddenly want to go I will be able to

It’s the official music video for Life of Ophelia and lyric videos for all the other tracks, plus background on what the songs mean (I’m imagining like the talky bits between songs on the Disney Folklore: Long Pond Studio film.

I love the Long Pond film so I’m looking forward to the Showgirl film. I’d rather watch it at home but as that’s not an option (yet; maybe it will come into streaming services at some point) I shall go to the cinema.

Agree with PPs though, cinema looks really quiet, clearly no Swifties in my town!

Thissickbeat · 29/09/2025 09:00

I love the not subtle £12.12 ticket pricing. Do we think we get a full blown Eras documentary that day?

EmeraldRoulette · 29/09/2025 10:07

@SoScarletItWas thanks for clarifying

It doesn't seem worth enduring the cinema for that.

I went to the Eras Tour screening twice but this seems like something I'd be better off watching at home. If it doesn't get released, I suspect it will be, bit by bit, then I don't feel like I've missed out.

it takes a lot for me to go to the cinema 😂

Ha, our cinema is an Everyman so £12.12 would be a bargain! They’ve ignored that 😖

TheAlcott · 29/09/2025 13:02

I've cleared my diary on Friday so I can devote myself to getting to know the album. Luckily my boss is also a Swiftie so is supportive 😄

I did consider getting a ticket for the cinema release but I've got no one to go with. I'll wait for it to be released online / streaming.

My DH has sensibly decided to work from the office on Friday. I’ve told him I’ll fill him in on all my thought on all the songs when he gets home - he’s very excited… 🤣

Em my TTPD CD arrived on the day of release. It was totally worth buying a physical copy for the fridge magnet.

We all know about this do we? Tonight.

Thank you

I never bought any merch before, so I have no idea what happens.

I'm in the middle of a really unpleasant big stressful thing. Has been going on for a couple of months now. I think Friday is going to be a particularly bad day in relation to that. So I'll probably be on here seeing people's opinions long before I actually get to listen to the album.

I would like to sit down and listen to it when I've got Friday out of the way though to be honest, my stress level probably won't come down till about 10 pm!

I had a really busy workday the day TTPD came out - that was bizarre. By the time I got home, or probably by midday 😂 whole world had allocated each song to whatever crazy story they were favouring! I just ignored it

I actually wasn't that keen on TTPD on the first listen. I do prefer the pop stuff. I am hoping this one will be a bit more 1989.

I do really like TTPD but it's not something I would've picked for surviving the commute

I very much appreciated her earlier albums for not just surviving the commute, but also just not being completely frustrated and pissed off with it.

It doesn't sound like much of a compliment but the albums that got played on repeat during my commute honestly saved my sanity!

did anyone else think that "sweat and vanilla" was not a great name for an album edition?!

I like her trailer for the album. Such fun - as Miranda would say.

EmeraldRoulette · 01/10/2025 11:04

I hear it's confirmed that "Father Figure" is a reimagining of the George Michael song.

I'm very open-minded about reimagining

I just really hope it's good! I bet there's a massive crossover between George Michael fans and Taylor Swift fans.

IWasBornIn1989 · 01/10/2025 19:12

I’m not sure about anyone covering George 😬

EmeraldRoulette · 01/10/2025 21:10

@IWasBornIn1989 exactly

I'm going to say she wouldn't do it unless She was really confident of doing him and the songjustice.

sorry about the terrible formatting. I can't seem to correct anything without the page crashing.

InNewYorkNoShoes · 01/10/2025 21:13

Hello everyone 👋

EmeraldRoulette · 01/10/2025 21:16

@InNewYorkNoShoes looked up at the sky it was maroon

Or - hello!

This thread is like a gigantic ear worm trigger

Goodness knows what it will be like on Friday 😂

I wonder if anyone will find themselves getting extra business

Like The Blue Nile and Charlie Puth last time! I think the blue Nile had to get a bunch of extra records pressed.

Did you all see that Taylor's on Graham Norton on Friday night? Seems funny for her to be over here for the release date, rather than in the US. He posted himself listening to the album on Instagram.

Yes she’s on Graham Norton Friday, Jimmy Fallon Monday, and Seth Myers Wednesday.

I was surprised as well.

And on the timetable Taylor Nation shared, Saturday evening says “standby”, so she’s maybe doing something then as well.

EmeraldRoulette · 01/10/2025 21:47

Yes, I heard about the Graham Norton thing awhile back

And I thought it was odd for release day too

I was actually wondering if she's maybe appearing on stage with anyone who's on in London this week

And then I wondered if it was actually not going to be an in-person interview. I know she really likes being on that show but it just surprised me. Unless she's also househunting in London or something. Or just really fancies a visit!

I love it when she's on Jimmy Fallon's show. I really liked how he advertised it as well with the roulette table! If only he had played with an emerald 😂

I think it is a normal in person interview. When I watched Graham Norton last week he announced her as one of the next week’s guests in the same list as the other people on the couch, and I’ve just checked the bbc episode notes and it says “joins Graham on his sofa”.

larkstar · 02/10/2025 01:19

I remember looking up the name Clara Bow when I first came across that song on TTPD - the name was faintly familiar but once I'd seen the wiki page I thought this might be the beginning of a thread that would lead somewhere - maybe that song foreshadows LOFAS.
