Would you go to a gig at 60?

Well 59 actually. There’s a band I really like who have quite a youngish audience I think but I really like them and want to see them live.

Would me and DH be a pair of saddos and stick out like a sore thumb? Or is our age irrelevant. I won’t be down the mosh pit I hasten to add!

Yuck, it would be so embarrassing. Act your age and go see Andre Rieu instead.

Obviously go to the gig, woman!

Nothing wrong with Andre Rieu , his shows are fabulous , try one . I like music across the board including some classical .

I'm in my 60s and go to gigs all the time. I was at one recently and a lady in her mid 70s came and sat next to me. Her last concert was in the summer - Bruce Springsteen at Wembley. And she stood! Good for her.

DareDevil223 · 05/10/2024 19:26

DP and I are in our late 50s and go to loads of gigs, we're rarely the oldest even if we're seeing bands like The Bug Club. We're off to see Interpol next month and I can't wait.

GreyBlackLove · 05/10/2024 19:26

Of course, don't second guess yourself

Treesnbirds · 05/10/2024 19:27

Of COURSE! Go and enjoy yourself 😃😍

Wigtopia · 05/10/2024 19:28

I’ve been going to gigs since 14 years old and there has always been a range of ages. Not once have I thought anyone over a certain age were saddos or stuck out like sore thumbs! Go, enjoy and don’t worry about what other people are thinking because they are probably not even thinking about your age!

alongtimeagoandfaraway · 05/10/2024 19:29

Why on earth not?

Kitkat1523 · 05/10/2024 19:29

I’m 59 ….I go to gigs and festivals …..go for it OP

Howdiditgetsobad · 05/10/2024 19:29

I really hope I’m still going to gigs at 60. At 44 the only thing that stops me from going regularly is having 3 and 6 year olds. We go to festivals and gigs as often as we can and they are very much all ages!

rainbowsparkle28 · 05/10/2024 19:29

It wouldn't even cross my mind if I wanted to go and see a gig not to because of age and equally when going to any kind of gig I literally do not even give a second thought to the age of people, you are all there to enjoy the music etc., surely that's, er, kind of the point 🤨 Of course you should go!

audweb · 05/10/2024 19:29

Why would you not? There’s no age limit to enjoying life. Go and enjoy yourself. It wouldn’t even cross my mind that at 59 I shouldn’t go to a gig. Last few I’ve been to the age of people have mostly been over forty/fifty.

I love classical music.

I would not love an Andre Rieu show.

Livinginaclock · 05/10/2024 19:32

Goooo, I love boybands, still go and I'm late 40's.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 05/10/2024 19:33

Look at this way, you're all there for the same reason, you love the artist, and that group enjoyment is very intoxicating. No-one cares about your age, only about whether you're enjoying it as much as they are.

Oldraver · 05/10/2024 19:34

I'm 60 in 6 months and have 8 planned for soon, 4 earlier in the year and two daytime raves

Yea we do usually go for a hotel for the night now if it's further away and an eye watering corporate seat next year at Tottenham

MayaPinion · 05/10/2024 19:37

I’m 56 and I go to gigs all the time. I’m going to one tomorrow night and two in one night next Friday. I’m even going to Rome in February to see one of my favourite bands. I like local up and coming bands as well as big tickets like Foo Fighters and The Killers. There are lots of older people at gigs. Tickets are so expensive these days they’re often out of reach for young people. Go, enjoy yourself, and dance your socks off.

tolerable · 05/10/2024 19:38

aye
madonna, tom jones, the stones, mcartney all still gig. at 60 you can do whatchu like-answer to nobody.

Runskiyoga · 05/10/2024 19:44

You'll be surprised, the audience will likely be more your age than you think. We go to big gigs and dingy small band venues and in our 50s and nearly 60s we fit right in. After all, more disposable income...

PickledMuffin · 05/10/2024 19:44

yes?! 60 isn't old!

Holiday24 · 05/10/2024 19:46

My mum is 70 and recently saw Status Quo & Rammstein . Go for it!

AdmittowearingCrocs · 05/10/2024 19:48

Absolutely would. I went to see the Killers at the O2, was fabulous.

WTAFisthisnonsense · 05/10/2024 19:49

Do you know how old the Rolling Stones are?

Pebbles16 · 05/10/2024 19:50

I'm a little younger than you (a couple of years), I went to a gig on my own in the summer. It was awesome

redtrain123 · 05/10/2024 19:51

@Restaurantcritic

Whos the band?

FifiFalafel · 05/10/2024 19:51

DH and I love our punk and have never stopped going to gigs.
We're 60 now and often feel like we might be the youngest people there.
