Can't decide my favourite, either Disturbed's 'Sound of Silence' or Chrissie Hynde's 'Creep' both much better than original! What are yours?

I’m sure it’s probably been posted but Somewhere over the rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole - possibly better than the original and i love and was brought up on the original. Absolutely stunning.

All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix (cover of Bob Dylan’s).

Woodstock by Celia Pavey (cover of Joni Mitchell’s).

Jealous Guy by Roxy Music (cover of John Lennon’s).

Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door by Guns N Roses (cover of Bob Dylan’s again).

Hurt by Johnny Cash (cover of Nine Inch Nails).

Having just now looked through the thread, I cannot believe no one has mentioned All Along the Watchtower.

I prefer Tom Jones's you can leave your hat on over joe cockers

DamsonOnThisDress · 13/05/2018 11:57

Sinead O'Connor's covers of Silent Night and This Is A Rebel Song.

Mind you I've always said Sinead and Dolores O'Riordan could sing the phone book and it would give me goosebumps.

And despite causing outrage to my younger self when I first heard it, I have a huge soft spot for Tori Amos' Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Plan B did a cover of Dua Lipas Be the one on Jo Wiley last year and it was amazing! Can't download the full thing from anywhere though 😣

Frightened Rabbit’s cover of ‘Whole Of The Moon’. So sad to hear of Scott Hutchison’s suicide. He was such a talent.

queribus · 07/06/2018 18:01

Years go the NME released a CD (!) called Ruby Trax - loads of covers. Most were truly awful (News atomic dustbin - I've never been to me). Vic Reeves covered Vienna, when goes very odd at the end, but the Manics cover of Suicide is Painless is amazing

queribus · 07/06/2018 18:02

That should obviously be Ned's Atomic Dustbin

NotARegularPenguin · 07/06/2018 18:11

Maxwell’s cover of This Is Woman’s Work.

ifigoup · 07/06/2018 18:13

Communards - Don’t Leave Me This Way
McAlmont and Butler - Back For Good
Ash - Does Your Mother Know?
Beatles - Twist and Shout
Joyrider - Rush Hour
Polyphonic Spree - Lithium

The Killers version of Romeo and Juliet is just as brilliant as the original. When Brandon sings the line 'you nearly gave me a heart attack' I melt every time.

Another live lounge track Elbow performing One Thing by Amerie is worth a listen.

BonnieF · 07/06/2018 18:19

Muse’s version of Feeling good
Jennifer Warnes’ version of Leonard Cohen’s first we take Manhattan, with amazing guitar work by Stevie Ray Vaughn.
