Can't decide my favourite, either Disturbed's 'Sound of Silence' or Chrissie Hynde's 'Creep' both much better than original! What are yours?

TheQuestingVole yes, I came on to post the same thing. Backed by Joe Jackson. Marvellous.

Joe Cocker, With A Little Help
The Beatles, Twist and Shout
Rod Stewart, The First Cut is The Deepest.
Sinead O’Connor, Nothing Compares 2U

Adele Fast Love- George Michael Tribute

Backingvocals · 28/03/2018 22:11

Speaking of George Michael, his cover of Stevie Wonder's As with Mary J Blige. I am the biggest SW fan in the world but George's cover is fantastic.

Also, and you might have to bear with me on this one, Elkie Brooks doing Purple Rain. She has an incredible voice.

interesting cover

inamechangedforthispost · 28/03/2018 22:19

Elvira Costello's version of 'She', just amazing.

Whitney's version of I will always love you is much better than the Dolly Parton original.

puddleduckmummy · 28/03/2018 22:22

Just heard the Bad Wolves cover of 'Zombie' it amazing!

YaBasic · 28/03/2018 22:37

and proceeds are going to Dolores's three kids so fair play to them Star

Joan Osborne - 'What Becomes of the Broken Hearted' - gritty and very personal. Much more feeling than the original or any other version imo. The old blues song 'Shake Em on Down' by R.L. Burnside with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. North Mississippi drone style rendition. (Sorry for the screech at the end. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be there or a problem in the recording.)
puddleduckmummy · 29/03/2018 16:56

@YaBasic oh that's lovely! She was supposed to sing on it too wasn't she, due in the studio the week after she died. I'm glad they still recorded it anyway, it's a great cover

JaneJeffer · 31/03/2018 22:21

I love Sam Smith's cover of When I was Your Man. The guitar player is so good on this.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/04/2018 15:30

I've never heard of BossHoss before, they are unusual aren't they? You have to wonder how a group of Berliners ever came together to cover hip-hop songs using country and western instruments in a punk/heavy metal fashion in the first place. It really, really shouldn't work but it's strangely fascinating.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/04/2018 20:55

I'm not all that keen on Pentatonix, I almost always prefer the originals to their covers, except for Fleet Foxes' White Winter Hymnal which they do really well.

stitchglitched · 01/04/2018 21:00

Pootle completely agree, KD Lang's version of Hallelujah is the best I've heard.

YaBasic · 01/04/2018 21:39

Boss Hoss are big-ish in Germany Blackamericano big enough to judge talent shows!
This one is my poledancing song if I was to ever poledance ...good Wink

YaBasic · 01/04/2018 21:43

And dos bros is also good. They also do a mean Jolene...

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/04/2018 22:01

I'm very impressed that you have a pole dancing song YaBasic. I'm going to ignore the fact that I would die if I tried pole dancing and keep my ears open for a suitable song of my own. Grin I'm a Strictly fan so I already have songs for tango (Angel of Small Death by Hozier), waltz (Can't Help Falling in Love, Elvis version only) and Viennese waltz (I Know by Tom Odell), I feel I have let myself down somewhat by not having a pole dancing song.

drumandthebass · 01/04/2018 22:05

Roy Ayers - "You send me"

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 01/04/2018 22:51

Father John Misty singing Nirvanas "Heart shaped box"

HelloBrass · 01/04/2018 23:13

I love Jamie Callum's High & Dry. Better than the original

YaBasic · 02/04/2018 01:23

Ah, another Glitterball fan blackamericano always good to know, hello. I had not heard of your tracks bar Elvis, so just went to youtube and like them both very much thank you. Strictly led to the game in our house of What would this be then?
I could not pole dance for love nor money gravity but admire those that can. My DH who humours me would poledance to Goldfrapp Strict Machine, bless him. But we'd need a bigger pole.
This guy on the other hand (starts 1.31) the spin at the 2 minute mark is art.

YaBasic · 02/04/2018 01:27

mick thank you Flowers that led to finding him cover Arcade fire. He's rather good, isn't he?!

OliviaStabler · 02/04/2018 01:35

I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston
One Of Us - Prince
I'll Be There - Mariah Carey
Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay - Michael Bolton
Who's Lovin You - Jackson 5

SteX · 02/04/2018 01:42

Stereophonics "Handbags and Gladrags". Original by Rod Stewart. I first heard it live, my jaw just dropped - there I was staring with my mouth open. Was amazing, love it.

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 02/04/2018 11:56

@YaBasic rather good and rather jeffing gorgeous too! Wink
