Heart "All I wanna do is make love to you" - where she shags a stranger just to get pregnant.

Or the incomparable Hazzard. Always had my suspicions about what he did with her down by that river.

Anyone else like songs like this??? Grin

And on a similar topic (50 years' difference in setting) - Eric Bogle : And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
I'm going for the crying ones obv

Starry Starry Night by Don McLean. He sings about Vincent Van Gogh and it makes me cry every time I hear it.

melezka · 11/12/2010 18:46

Ha, I was going to mention Don McLean!

minimathsmouse · 11/12/2010 18:57

I also cry to starry night.

I like the song and album Aqua Lung by Jethro Tull and Pink Floyds the wall album.

MistletoeAndWhineWithMe · 11/12/2010 19:07

The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan is a favourite of mine.

thenightsky · 11/12/2010 19:12

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 11/12/2010 19:27

I love "The Queen and The Soldier" by Suzanne Vega, such an emotive song.

RantyMcRantpants · 11/12/2010 20:32

Luka Suzanne Vega

aBrightStarWithFestiveWays · 11/12/2010 21:07

The Queen And The Soldier is an amazing song.

Luka makes me cry these days :(

DuelingFanio · 11/12/2010 21:07

'Black Diamond Bay' by Bob Dylan - lots of Bob Dylan infact :)

aBrightStarWithFestiveWays · 11/12/2010 21:15

There is a great pair of songs by Nina Nastasia - 'Nobody Knew Her' and 'Bradley Haunts A Party'. The first details the death of a popular high school kid in a drunken RTA, the second (which appears on a much later album) is told by his unknown date as they endlessly relive the night of the crash. Or that's my interpretation anyway.

melezka · 11/12/2010 22:20

Ricki Lee Jones - Skeletons

BikeRunSki · 11/12/2010 22:25

Up The Junction - Squeeze

I am from Clapham Junction, but I did not get pg and run off with another man 2 years later though.

Also love "Telegraph Road" by Dire Straits

I'm old, aren't I?

sethstarkaddersmum · 11/12/2010 22:28

has no-one mentioned the songs on Blue by Joni Mitchell?

Little Green is an amazing one. Always makes me cry.
