Heart "All I wanna do is make love to you" - where she shags a stranger just to get pregnant.

Or the incomparable Hazzard. Always had my suspicions about what he did with her down by that river.

Anyone else like songs like this??? Grin

oh, yes Georgimam two little boys has me weeping everytime I hear it! I tried to talk to someone about it once and I just started crying! i had to pretend I was coughing so they didn't think I was a complete wuss.

The Spooks' Karma Hotel is like a darker version of Hotel California - it tells the story of what happens in each room. very haunting chorus, and the verses are just shocking.

UnquietDad · 11/12/2010 16:50

Heh-heh, love the Chris de Burgh fans coming out of the woodwork. His early stuff was really good. It's only post-Lady In Red that he has turned into some sort of Daniel O'Donnell.

I sing two little boys to DD2 ( three) every night. She can now sing the whole first verse and chorus. Has me and my mum bawling our eyes out.

We used to play a C&W song called 'Old Shep' to my sister to MAKE her cry. Every time.

Loads of the Shangri La's songs are story songs

melezka · 11/12/2010 16:55

Lots of Harry Chapin's too, not just Cat's in the Cradle.

PuppyMonkey · 11/12/2010 16:56

There's that Bobby Goldsborough ( ???) song

Was a hot afternoon
Last day of June
And the sun was a demon

Where he ends up losing his virginity with the older woman. Love that one!!

Another 'Don't like Mondays' fan here, Boomtown Rats and also 'Don't you Want Me' Human League. Oh and Town Called Malice, The Jam. I was a late 70's, early 80's teen :)
