Here at MNHQ it's census time again! This survey is open to everyone, and we'd love to hear from as many of you as possible, as it's really useful to us to find out a bit more about the people who use Mumsnet.

As a thank you for completing the census, all who complete the survey and leave their details at the end will be entered into our monthly prize draw where they could win one of three £150 vouchers.

Click here to complete the census

Thanks and good luck!

I don’t think they ever reply to tags anymore. I think you have to report your post in order to ask your question.

Ah ok, thanks!

@JustineBMumsnet

Hi *@OddSockReunion* - we look at the data in aggregate as one of many ways to help understand the make up of Mumsnet. As you mentioned, some of this aggregated data does help us to form a view of which advertisers might be most appropriate (and liked by users!).

We didn't publish stats from the last census (in 2019), but we are planning on sharing some of these results later this, or early next year.

Thanks @JustineBMumsnet that would be very interesting; just the summary data on demographics etc. It might dispel (or confirm!) some common Mumsnet myths!

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep a look out for when you publish it.

SparklingLime · 01/10/2021 18:37

Well that’s me proved wrong! 😂

whojamaflip · 01/10/2021 19:42

Q12 why can't I put employed and self employed?

claza93 · 01/10/2021 20:13

Done x

MrsLJ2014 · 01/10/2021 23:31

Done!

somethinginoffensive · 01/10/2021 23:47

Q3 is ridiculous. The mutually exclusive options suggest that trans women and trans men are neither male nor female. And anyone gender nonconforming doesn't have a sex either.

Honestly, you would think MNHQ would have learned something from all the sensible women who post in the feminist section.

Stopsnowing · 02/10/2021 05:35

Didn’t bother to answer due to question 3. It would serve mumsnet right if transactivists got wind of this survey and completed it en masse.

Oblomov21 · 02/10/2021 06:41

Done

zukiecat · 02/10/2021 14:58

I got to Q4

Scotland is a lot more than just "Scotland"

We have regions too, the English always do this, and most Scots hate it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/10/2021 17:18

I did the survey from the outside (not UK) -

  • sex and gender should habe been two questions (one being biology and the other social construct)
  • the survey seemed - naturally - to concentrate on the marketable (and often more fluffy) aspects of MN
  • the occupational 'classes' seem strange to me (but then I am not in the system, so what do I know)
LilmissCa · 02/10/2021 22:17

Did it and hit submit before enter email address for competition Sad

MoreHairyThanScary · 03/10/2021 00:18

I got the feeling that we were expected to want fluffy 'female' things to discuss, politics and debate did not feature but fashion and beauty ....

MissCrowley · 03/10/2021 08:37

@zukiecat I only moved to Wales from
England last year and this winds me up on Wales behalf too! Wales isn't exactly small either! Bloody rude!

MaudebeGonne · 03/10/2021 11:52

It isn't open to all Mumsnet users as the T&Cs state you must be a UK resident.

zukiecat · 03/10/2021 12:11

@MissCrowley

I know, I feel enraged for Wales too!

It's so rude and arrogant, like only England matters.

donquixotedelamancha · 03/10/2021 12:22

@TheLovelinessOfDemons

I love the transphobia here. How do you suggest I answer then?
Depends what the question is asking. For example: as it stands you can't tick GNC and female because it completely confuses sex and gender.

Why is it transphobic to point that out?

donquixotedelamancha · 03/10/2021 12:25

Scotland is a lot more than just "Scotland" We have regions too, the English always do this, and most Scots hate it.

So do all the other regional options. Scotland has a smaller population than several of the other regions on that list. If they wanted smaller divisions they'd use counties.

BiddyPop · 04/10/2021 07:53

You ask ALL MN users to complete the survey with vouchers to be won, but only MN users within the UK can actually win the vouchers.

That, on top of the WTAF questions, mean I won't be completing mine either

Dutchoma · 04/10/2021 08:48

What a palaver. Didn’t even get half way. That is another half hour of my life I won’t get back.

Hogwarts4Christmas · 04/10/2021 15:21

No point filling it out if you don't know that female is the SEX and nothing to do with harmful gender stereotypes

Eyesofdisarray · 04/10/2021 17:19

My role didn't fit into any of those work/employment categories

Buffseagull · 04/10/2021 18:50

@ItsNotNormalLove

You lost me at question 3.
It's 2021 hun get over it x
k4523 · 04/10/2021 19:14

Done :)

trama · 04/10/2021 21:21

I was considering doing this, but given how intrusive/personal some of the questions are and in light of MN's security failures in recent years I think I'll give it a miss.
