Here at MNHQ it's census time again! This survey is open to everyone, and we'd love to hear from as many of you as possible, as it's really useful to us to find out a bit more about the people who use Mumsnet.

As a thank you for completing the census, all who complete the survey and leave their details at the end will be entered into our monthly prize draw where they could win one of three £150 vouchers.

Click here to complete the census

Thanks and good luck!

@SparklingLime

Are these standard categories? Placing of teachers and ‘junior’ doctors seems odd.
Yes, it's a load of shite, really. Shameful.
NativityDreaming · 30/09/2021 15:52

Please stop conflating sex and gender. Female is not a gender. And if you are asking for for gender please allow constructed as an answer

PurpleEchoLamp · 30/09/2021 18:25

No. Thank. You

Nellle · 30/09/2021 19:43

Done.

Don't get "services" like a paramedic/carer being in the same category as "sales"?

BlueThursday · 30/09/2021 20:51

@ErrolTheDragon

Q3 seemed like an attempt to please everyone which probably pleases very few (who bother to read beyond the first two choices). It would have been more sensible for this 'census' to have followed what the U.K. census did.
Which U.K. census?
DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 30/09/2021 21:11

Would love to help but asking for way too much detailed info here. Felt uncomfortable after just a few questions - if you gave this info to a scammer, everyone would say what a muppet you were for providing this level of detail, just because someone asked.

What intrusive questions! Shock

Binglebong · 30/09/2021 21:51

Done. It would be good if the medical questions had suspected/currently investigating for medical conditions - I may have arthritis but doctor isn't sure yet so I has to answer no to that question.

You most certainly have not done yourselves any favours here @JustineBMumsnet. Do you not read the threads people respond to? Mumsnet are asking for personal information over and above what would seem normal. Are you selling this information onwards? Are you really calling us out on what we do and do not believe about transwomen and transmen? ((takes a big sigh and pours another glass of wine))

immersivereader · 01/10/2021 02:11

Done. Be interesting to see how you use this data, there's a lot of it.

ThinWomansBrain · 01/10/2021 02:16

Designers at Debenhams Hmm
Not that I'd be beating a path to get there, but I thought they went under months ago?

ChateauMargaux · 01/10/2021 02:24

Q3 is unclear... I do not have a gender but I do have a sex.

elQuintoConyo · 01/10/2021 07:17

Balls - so I've done the survey but can't be in the draw for a prize as I'm not in the UK? Angry FML you couldn't just email e-vouchers?

I'm mostly here for the feminist sites, Christmas threads and the lolz.

Sacreblue · 01/10/2021 09:13

Being female has an impact on every single aspect of my life from education to healthcare to employment to personal relationships to what I buy and what activities I do for fun.

So ‘it’s just a survey’ is moot.

If Feminism wasn’t listed as an option as to why we use the site then I would have been excluded from answering there too.

I may read threads on many different subjects, even occasionally post on a few, but over and above all other topics I am here for discussions on Feminism, women’s rights, women’s health and the camaraderie and support of and from fellow females.

That may be uncomfortable for some who would rather women didn’t talk amongst themselves or think about their own bodies, health, education, employment, rights or have a bit of a laugh with each other.

But frankly that’s your misogyny problem, not mine.

Bolognesedoc · 01/10/2021 11:05

The survey may be open to everyone but the prize draw is not. Maybe that should be made clearer?

TroysMammy · 01/10/2021 11:21

Remembered to use a little used email address so I don't get marketing emails clogging up my main email address.

OddSockReunion · 01/10/2021 11:26

@JustineBMumsnet please can you answer my question upthread about sharing a summary of the data with users?

OddSockReunion · 01/10/2021 11:26

The national census data is made available. That should be the reciprocal part of us providing the data to you.

DismantledKing · 01/10/2021 12:40

How intrusive is this? No thanks.

I don’t think they ever reply to tags anymore. I think you have to report your post in order to ask your question.

Agreed I am only here for the thread formerly known as Feminist Chat and now carved into two.
JustineBMumsnet · 01/10/2021 17:44

Hi @OddSockReunion - we look at the data in aggregate as one of many ways to help understand the make up of Mumsnet. As you mentioned, some of this aggregated data does help us to form a view of which advertisers might be most appropriate (and liked by users!).

We didn't publish stats from the last census (in 2019), but we are planning on sharing some of these results later this, or early next year.
