Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

Good point Artichokes.

GypsyMoth · 26/04/2011 12:23

You need to turn it into a competition with a bloody brilliant prize.

Prize for best fawning behaviour and best three questions. (A holiday in St Lucia)

Plus runner up prize for best wind up spotter. (A job as Troll detective at MNHQ)

GitAwfMayLend · 26/04/2011 12:23

As penance MNHQ you should sponsor Pinot's kittens, and pay all the vet bills for the forseeable.

MardyBra · 26/04/2011 12:24

It would just be an anti climax anyway now Psammead.

Hello catharine
many congrats on your upcoming wedding this Friday - I really hope the sun is shining for you
question for you - after you are married the next big thing will be when are you planning a family??!! If so just wondering are you allowed to pick your own babie names in the royal household or do you get told what baby nes you are allowed??
All you best and I think you make a fantastic couple
love Karina and Alice-Rose (aged 8months) xx

GypsyMoth · 26/04/2011 12:26

they can send us some of the surplus wine club bottles as penance.....you have my address from registration details......that will do for now

Psalmead · 26/04/2011 12:27

Oh let's have a competition made from it.

All posters on the thread to be put into a tombola (well, their names, not the actual real posters) and the winner gets a shed load of crappy memorabilia.

Or something else.

Annunziata · 26/04/2011 12:28

Hello :)

What do you hope to achieve as a member of the royal family? Do you have any specific charities or causes that you would like to endorse?

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/04/2011 12:29

I'll never know whether Kate suffers from loo anxiety now Sad

expatinscotland · 26/04/2011 12:29

This is brilliant! Some people are making total tits out of themselves :o.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/04/2011 12:29

and people are still posting too- you are messing with us MN - very disappointing

brookeslay · 26/04/2011 12:30

I think MNHQ print.. Re type the Good Wishes and ship them off to the palace with a Bottle of Champagne from the mumnetters not HQ.

EgguStudent · 26/04/2011 12:30

I like Psalmead's suggestion. And I didn't even post a question. But add a bottle of Pimms to the memorabilia.

GeneHuntsMistress · 26/04/2011 12:30

Oh yes Psalmead that's a good idea!

I'm so disappointed. I will never know if Kate has watched the Princess Diaries now and what she thought of them Sad

So so so glad DD is at school today, she would be so upset now. really feel for all those with children so excited about this, as DD would have been if she had been here earlier Sad

Never mind eh Justine, got plenty of publicity out of this haven't you love?

JustineMumsnet · 26/04/2011 12:30

@Artichokes

How come you corrected the rumour on Twitter at least 15 mins before coming onto this thread? Could it possible be because the publicity and extra hits is great for your business? Could that have been the real motivation behind this "joke"?

No honest gov - we didn't have a traffic thought in our heads when we conceived this, it was only a question of what the heck can we do that's fun for the royal wedding (and not the same as everyone else). A MN webchat is our thing and we happily had a mnetter who has some form as a great fake kate. But hands up, we didn't execute it ideally - really didn't mean for people to con folks.

Nagoo · 26/04/2011 12:30

Really, take it down now. It wasn't very nice for the people that do care, and children get very excited by this stuff :(

insertfunnynicknamehere · 26/04/2011 12:31

Imagines everyone in an actual tombola Grin

Seriously though dont actually do the webchat at 1 with your Kate Justine as she may go home crying....people on here were restrained you know, the cursewords need to be directed somewhere......

brookeslay · 26/04/2011 12:32

Yes buy one of all the wedding memorabilia and do a prize draw.I only want the Harry mug so I`m easily pleased.

MarshaBrady · 26/04/2011 12:32

Oh.
I would have believed this too.

Merrylegs · 26/04/2011 12:32

Wine will do it. After all, we have just paid the rent this week for a several lazy journos who will make this thread into a story...

'Orf With Their Heads - Mumsnetters are Not Amused'

'Mum's the word - but not if you're Miss Middleton'

"What Katy Didn't Do - A no-show at parenting website Mumsnet had the vipers in a spin......'

etc etc......

MrsSeanBean · 26/04/2011 12:33

Is this a joke?!

MrsSeanBean · 26/04/2011 12:33

Sorry - seen end of thread now - didn't fool me :)
