Norman's office has been turned into a polling station. Brian and Len are checking off the voters against the electoral roll. Ken is conducting the exit poll. The candidates are:-

Norman the Foreman (Tea drinking party)
Bossy Ross the lifeboat coxswain (Lifesaving party)
Michael the beach policeman (Law and order party)
Jack Jellyhead the robber (Legalise robbery party)
Father Christmas (Christmas all year round party)

Early results from the exit poll suggest that the tea drinking party and lifesaving party are doing rather well.....

When do we get the results?

Next someone will call to Return them to the shop. (or, worse Put them on Ebay)

oh yes, we've heard it all before, you say you just want to look after Playmobil people, and their interests, but what really motivates you is that you are afraid of Little People. You fear their lack of articulated limbs, their youthful vigour, their cheerful noise-loaded town environment....It just Scares you.

I would have voted for the playmobil nun. I bet she would have similar policies to Norman.

(nuns drink a lot of tea don't they?)

Do little people have arms? If they don't they don't really drive the fire engines do they?

Hmm, I notice that none of the candidates are women. Am considering sending Barbies to demonstrate in front of the polling station.

SoMuch's ds (Master Three Cups as he is known mostly to me and Franca) is not so hot on the girly playmobil. However I feel there is a playmobil-interweb twinning with the degullion household where we are swamped with pony riders, dolphin trainers, vets, carrot farmers and folk who do business in a camper van. All very female dominated professions as we all know.

One day there will be a glorious meet up and SoMuch and I will tick off the entire playmobil catalogue and I will push some laydee candidates into the arena.

Can we have a hustings where we ask them questions?

I would like to know the candidates' views on the old-style construction versus System X.

I would like to ask Michael the Beach Policeman two questions.

  1. Is there really so much crime on the beach that it warrants its own police division and presumably distinct uniform

    which leads me on to

  2. are skinny white jeans really an aproppriate uniform for a law enforcement officer

Is Michael the Beach Policemans party affiliated in any way with the US tv series of the same name? Methinks he might be getting some serious financial backing!

I shall give him my vote anyway for looking most like a member of the Village People and seeing as theres no Red Indian candidate (he was my fave!)

In our house all the goodie zoo animals are labour have been ranged against the baddies (the tories). David Cameron, a gorilla, travels round on his legomobile and gets his head periodically chopped off. Nick Clegg rides up on his white charger, kills a few baddies and disappears off again. Ben Bradshaw rallies the troops, aided by his faithful pony Ben Bradshaw Junior.

MmeLindtChocBrownies, we have a playmobil fairy if you can think of some others for an all women shortlist, although with only 45 mins to go it's probably too late to address the unfair representation of women in the 2010 Playmobil election

I'm going to vote the Playmobil equivalent of the Greens (i.e. a wasted vote) and vote for Father Christmas.

The Kenyan playmobil all forgot to get their arses into gear with their postal votes so have decided it's easier to pretend to be Somali pirates and are off looking for lucrative Russian oil tankers to hijack.

I'm voting Father Christmas.

Have you apppointed a returning officer yet?

Report
SoMuchToBits · 06/05/2010 22:04

Right, I'm back (having discussed the Playmobil election during the break at the orchestra rehearsal I was attending.) Polling has now finished, and I will count up the votes.

We have appointed Adrian the cargo boat captain as the returning officer. The results will be announced in the morning.

Thank you all everyone who voted!

Oh, and with regard to there being no female candidates, if we had had more time we would have arranged some more constituencies - then maybe Kylie the lifeguard would have stood for the lifesaving party etc. We do have some female Playmobilers, but ds's collection is fairly male-orientated (especially with the builders, police and fire service, although we have some female fire and police personnel).

Slubber, I would love a get-together with our respective Playmobil collections - it would be great fun!

Bangs on polling station door.
Surely I'm not too late to vote?!

Report
SoMuchToBits · 06/05/2010 22:13

At 10.06???? !!

Polling ended at 10.00 I'm afraid. If I let you vote now it might set a precedent and then everyone would want to vote after the polling station had closed.

But out of interest, who would you have voted for?

if you get your arse in gear you could declare before Sunderland, you know

I boycotted the vote as there was no Arthur the Aircraft Analyst (ban Ash party)

I think it would have to have been Norman this time. Maybe I should get myself organised with a postal vote next time round! How are the candidates feeling now SoMuch?

Fruitshoots, we don't have any Playmobil aircraft analysts , only aircraft pilots, ground staff etc.

Petal, the candidates are all tired after a hard day's campaigning. Norman is feeling cautiously optimistic, and is currently having a cup of tea to perk him up.

Not sure about declaring before Sunderland!

Well maybe Persephone the Pert Pilot could stand at the next election then?

I do feel you need a candidate from the airline industry.

I am wishing Bossy Ross luck as I feel he would be quite 'fit' if he was real.

Report
petalpower · 06/05/2010 22:26

Will the candidates be staying up all night until the results are declared? Norman doesn't really seem the chap for an all-nighter!
