To want to ban these phrases (not light-hearted - this would be my first act as dictator)

"I'm reaching out" - no, you are contacting me by email

"it broke me" - no, it made you a bit sad

"Picky bits tea" - just no

'Reaching out' is one of my teeth-gnashing phrases.

Saucery · 01/07/2024 20:23

‘Sweet treats’ is being used far too much.

ClaudiaWinklepanda · 01/07/2024 20:25

Can we add 'pop' please? "I'll just pop this here." "Just pop on a jacket". Boke.

Similarly 'grab'. "I'll grab a coffee and a sandwich because I'm so busy and important." Fuck right off.

ZellyFitzgerald · 01/07/2024 20:25

I hate the use of the word 'Bakes'. Just say you made a cake or a biscuit!

Sunnydiary · 01/07/2024 20:25

Picky bits should have been at the top of the list.

Otherwise, YANBU

OptimismvsRealism · 01/07/2024 20:25

Oh and one I learned here - "potty shot"

For a scan that shows the genitals of a foetus 🤢

‘Need gone’

it makes me so unreasonably angry

myflightiscancelled · 01/07/2024 20:26

I was today year old when I found out the earth is round or similar obvious fact.

Kovus · 01/07/2024 20:26

Holibobs and Crimbo. The perpetrators should have 75 years hard labour.

Riffraffarchitect · 01/07/2024 20:26

Even writing it myself made me angry 😂

Bjorkdidit · 01/07/2024 20:26

People who 'grab' lunch

People who 'do' holiday locations

People who use 'terrified' when a proportionate reaction would be to be mildly worried. They're either ridiculously over-reacting or completely misrepresenting their feelings.

Uricon2 · 01/07/2024 20:27

Gifted.

And phrases like "it needs done" instead of "it needs doing " or "it needs gone" instead of "it needs to go".

Kovus · 01/07/2024 20:27

Not a phrase, but I get really pissed off to see a lot of people write 'noone'.

Two words - 'no one'.

BiscuitsForever · 01/07/2024 20:28

'Gifted' and 'naice' also need to be added to the list.

HumphreyCobblers · 01/07/2024 20:28

Gosh all of these. Picky bits are what people get out from their toenails, not food.

Bjorkdidit · 01/07/2024 20:28

Also people who use the name of the nice food item to also describe the shit food item.

I am fucking sick of being given margarine when they said it was butter and shitey sweetener filled cordial when I asked for orange juice.

Foxxo · 01/07/2024 20:29

Picky bits
chrimbo
hollibobs
YOLO
'hack' it's not a hack, its a tip.

MonsteraMama · 01/07/2024 20:30

Uricon2 · 01/07/2024 20:27

Gifted.

And phrases like "it needs done" instead of "it needs doing " or "it needs gone" instead of "it needs to go".

Yes, this please. I literally never see or hear "it needs done" anywhere but here and I hate it. It's either "it needs doing" or "it needs to be done".

ExitPursuedByABare · 01/07/2024 20:30

Went extinct irrationally annoys me.

Back in the day it was ‘became extinct’.

Why change it?

RockyRogue1001 · 01/07/2024 20:30

Kovus · 01/07/2024 20:26

Holibobs and Crimbo. The perpetrators should have 75 years hard labour.

You beat me to hollibobs

But you forgot hubby

Itsnotmeanttodothat · 01/07/2024 20:31

Nibbles. For example, there will be a BBQ and some nibbles.
What exactly is going to be nibbled upon? It makes me think you have to eat like a rat. Everyone will be nibbling. I've made myself annoyed now.

Apfelkuchen · 01/07/2024 20:31

hubby, hubs, hubster, hun, hunny, wifey

RockyRogue1001 · 01/07/2024 20:32

Agree with hacks @Foxxo

And I'll add making memories as my contribution.

It just means doing stuff/living

No33 · 01/07/2024 20:33

Bite to eat 😐

Fireangels · 01/07/2024 20:33

Mumma and Bubba.
