How often does your OH think about the Roman Empire?

saw on Facebook a post saying that men think about the Roman Empire every day. The woman asked her husband and he said this was true and that he thinks about it daily. The comments was people asking their husbands how often they think about the Roman Empire with some very funny responses 😂

So, I’ll start .., I’ve just asked DH and he said “at least twice a week, why?”

DH says at least once a month. I never knew even that much!

DH says twice a week as they had a very good system of Government. This was delivered in a very matter of fact tone as if I'd asked him his favourite brand of coffee.

This has made me laugh! I just asked my DH and he said at least twice a week! Then he said please can we go visit the local Roman palace 😂😂 wish I hadn’t asked now but am properly laughing!

The Romans were amazing really.
Just sad it had to end as it did

Ds thinks about it almost every day. Which is similar to me.

But then I guess lots of us live near or in Roman settlements.

I think about it fairly often. However, this is partly because one DC is quite into the Asterix books and the other is doing Romans at school. I'm also into etymology so think about the Latin roots of words quite a bit which is maybe thinking about the Roman Empire? One of my routes to work passes the remains of some Roman structures so that's another possible trigger for thoughts about the Roman Empire. It's surprising how much it impinges on daily life when you consider it.

DH says weekly and he and DS22 were discussing various aspects of the RE over the weekend, quite a lengthy discussion.
But we do live very close to the A5 and the Fosse Way, and to a Roman Fort.
As for me, I'm more of A Life of Brian type of girl 🤣

My DH said once this year, because I asked him.

He’d now like to know if this makes him abnormal.

He said hardly ever and then I asked for a specific amount of time and he said about once a month. Which seems like quite a lot more than hardly ever to me!

Every month or so apparently!

DH said never and was confused by the question.

My DH said about twice a year and was really confused why I was asking.

But how often do YOU think about the Roman Empire?

Id say I think about it briefly several times a month, probably prompted by the stuff I like to watch but also thinking about Roman roads (theres a few round here) and then if im on a rolling english road (built by the rolling english drunkard) i then have to think about Romans (theres a LOT of rolling english roads!)...

And hypocausts fascinate me... naturally.

For some reason thinking of everyone asking their husbands this question is reminding me of when everyone was putting cucumbers behind their cats to see how they would respond.

When I'm driving on a Roman road I often do...

Dh said "not often, but actually twice in the last three days"

So clearly, often.

@deeplybaffled It would appear so. I don't imagine my DH goes anywhere Chester very often so it was a rather random answer.

Ds would love to do an Ancient History GCSE. He's very annoyed that his History curriculum focuses so much on Wales and not other places. We live in Wales. We are Welsh for generations, but he wants more exciting history.

I can't believe all these men are thinking about the Roman Empire a lot, & so seriously! I can't imagine my dh would think about it even once a week. Brilliant replies though, & best post of the week, it's certainly an eye opener 🤣
