How often does your OH think about the Roman Empire?

Just for fun

saw on Facebook a post saying that men think about the Roman Empire every day. The woman asked her husband and he said this was true and that he thinks about it daily. The comments was people asking their husbands how often they think about the Roman Empire with some very funny responses 😂

So, I’ll start .., I’ve just asked DH and he said “at least twice a week, why?”

would love to hear other Responses to this random question

“how often do you think about the Roman Empire?”

Apparently every couple of weeks?? Then he asked how often I thought about it and when I said “never” he looked surprised

Thankyou for this thread.. I'm in hysterics!
Just asked my DH.. Deadpan response of about once a week sometimes more. Like that's perfectly sodding normal.
I asked if there was anything in particular that he thinks about.. Mainly Gladiator training and how he could really beef up if he did it.. He's currently sat eating a cornetto.

Amazing 😂

EveryOtherNameTaken · 12/09/2023 21:32

I love we're all asking 😂
I got a 'Maybe once in the last 4 years'.
He said he thought mostly about Vikings.
😂

transformandriseup · 12/09/2023 21:33

I'm not sure about the Roman Empire but DH says he thinks about WW2 almost every day.

Dorksdirectdotcom · 12/09/2023 21:34

I've just remembered I have a Roman poetry book by Catullus. Its basically Latin porn 😂

One of my random lockdown purchases.

I'm relatively normal, I swear.

Mydogisagentleman · 12/09/2023 21:22

Probably many times daily.
His first degree was classics

Although he's becoming more interested in vikings after watching a telly programme

It's a bloody shame that the Vikings went Christian and women's rights faded. We would never had have the poverty, either.
I think the achievements of the Romans were pushed based on colour tbh. The achievements and inventions by the Egyptians and Chinese in comparison were downplayed. I think a lot of men see it as a clean shaven, manly empire and like to identify with the Romans.

Illegallyblonder · 12/09/2023 21:35

This is hilarious, I asked DH who said once every 3-6 months and then asked DS, who is26 who said once a day! I’m shocked!

This thread is funny as fuck. Loads of confused blokes all over the place. Wonder if anyone will say at work tomorrow that they got asked this and somebody else says 'Me too!!!!'

MrsJBaptiste · 12/09/2023 21:06

I'm so confused! Why on earth would anyone be thinking of the Roman Empire? And why some so often???

Me too. I can only assume there is some sort of in joke going on that is going way over my head.

I thought of the Roman Empire when I went on holiday to Rome, when I have seen Roman things in museums and when I went to Fishbourne Roman villa and if I very occasionally see something on TV about it. So certainly not a few times a weeks, more like a handful of times a year.

Ha ha yes!

InWalksBarberalla · 12/09/2023 21:37

My DH said a couple of times a week and seemed surprised with my virtually never. Also noted he thinks about Vikings even more often. So strange.

dawngreen · 12/09/2023 21:38

Its all that sand and tents lol.

LadyAsnowt · 12/09/2023 21:38

"Once a year." Said with certainty.

Confused19831983 · 12/09/2023 21:39

My DP says about once a year 😂

AliasGrape · 12/09/2023 21:40

I asked DH and honestly the most interesting thing was how he just treated it like a really normal question and answered it completely deadpan -

‘About once a month, unless something prompts me in between’ apparently.

I’d really like to get into the detail of WHAT he’s actually thinking about it but he’s watching football (on delay) so will have to wait.

I think if the question had been WW2 the answer would have been ‘hourly’ - in fact I’m pretty sure that there’s never actually been a time since he was about 10 when he wasn’t thinking about WW2 at least in some part of his brain.

Wintersgirl · 12/09/2023 21:41

DC is quite into the Asterix books

I LOVED those books, brings back so many happy memories for me...

😆

Longlive · 12/09/2023 21:43

DH said never and wants to know why men would think about it daily.

JanglyBeads · 12/09/2023 21:43

DS16 says about once a month!? I was surprised!

JanglyBeads · 12/09/2023 21:45

He thinks about caveman more often, about once a week.....

FrillyGoatFluff · 12/09/2023 21:45

The Roman Empire is a euphemism, right? 😂

Mountainhowl · 12/09/2023 21:45

I just showed mine the title thinking it was a ridiculous question, asked him and he said 4-5 times a week 😂😂

I just... what!? I'm dying 😂😂

SiouxseeSioux · 12/09/2023 21:46

My dh definately is a never, & says it was too long ago for him. Strangely I'm slightly disappointed in his answer 🤣

CantThinkOfANewUsernameAgain · 12/09/2023 21:46

Asked DH. He said never.

Words
Names
Foods
Roads
Towns
Comedies

tons of other reasons

OK... but if I thought about any of those things, the Romans would not come to mind ever!
