How often does your OH think about the Roman Empire?

Just for fun

saw on Facebook a post saying that men think about the Roman Empire every day. The woman asked her husband and he said this was true and that he thinks about it daily. The comments was people asking their husbands how often they think about the Roman Empire with some very funny responses 😂

So, I’ll start .., I’ve just asked DH and he said “at least twice a week, why?”

would love to hear other Responses to this random question

“how often do you think about the Roman Empire?”

“Never unless it’s on TV, I think about playing Rugby for England most days” (he’s 62 - I’d better brace myself to tell him it might not happen)

Ilovecleaning · 13/09/2023 20:47

Bloody daft post and even dafter thread.

Mynameispaige · 13/09/2023 20:51

My dh said once a decade. Hes more into dinosaurs

TheNoodlesIncident · 13/09/2023 20:52

I asked and got (via WA) "About once a weird WhatsApp message". I'm taking this to mean very rarely.

I used to be reminded about it regularly when I worked in Chester; I passed the amphitheatre about four times a day, and in summer the office windows were open and we could hear the school children marching along chanting "Sinister, dexter! Sinister, dexter!"

@the80sweregreat It'll be little consolation to them, but I think about the Greeks several a few times a day, every day, without fail.

Elly46 · 13/09/2023 20:58

I asked him and he
said ‘several times a year’ and then flicked on to Netflix and found a program called Roman Empire.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 13/09/2023 20:58

Perhaps it's about location, the Romans didn't make it to Ireland but I think about the pale line fairly regularly as I cross it most days and also think about Vikings a fair bit.

HolefreeGrail · 13/09/2023 21:06

My OB prefers the Napoleonic era. Monthly for the Romans. Weekly for that. 🤣🤣🤣

I asked my husband and my 16-year-old son today at dinner. My husband said something like once a week (I think about the Romans more often I think) and my son mumbled something about "why would I think about that, the Mongolian empire is far more interesting" and then gave me random facts about that instead.

supersop60 · 13/09/2023 21:09

Me: quite a lot as rewarching I Claudius
DP: couple of times a month - there's always something eg viaducts, roads sewers
DS: never, oh wait, maybe once a month
DD: when I'm driving on a really straight road

Infamy Infamy ! They've all got it Infamy!

Lincslady53 · 13/09/2023 21:17

My DH has got into the Plantagets this year, so much so that at the moment we are on a break in France visiting historical sites. Eleanor of Aquitaines tomb, the castle where Henry 2nd died, you get the picutre. Actually. It has been brilliant, loads of medieval towns, narrow streets, atmospheric, really friendly locals. Just having a great time. Now in Saumur, so I have convinced him to visit a sparkling wine producer tomorrow. Rome next year.

MadCatLady27 · 13/09/2023 21:19

Urgh mine just spoilt any fun

I just asked him

"Oh this has been all over tik tok I'm supposed to say every day"

What would you have said I ask

"Rarely"

SPOIL SPORT!!

My answer: I never think about it

Chaotica · 13/09/2023 21:21

DS 15 is clearly embarking on manhood well for an average British guy - he said 'more than twice a week'. I guess the hormones haven't completely kicked in yet and soon it will be once a day...

DD and I are more likely to think about the pre-Roman era or the Hittites. Or the Greeks.

Diddlysquat68 · 13/09/2023 21:32

OMG, just asked my DH and he said once a day and when I asked why he sat down from doing the dishes and proceeded to explain 😂

Harls1969 · 13/09/2023 21:35

I doubt my DH thinks about it often as he's too busy thinking about boobs

MadCatLady27 · 13/09/2023 21:39

Added to the above, when I moaned he spoilt my fun apparently I need to keep up as "it's been out for days" 🙄

Seeing it on here was the first I've seen about it so maybe I'm as ancient as the Romans 😂

When I asked what does he think about apparently "recently it's space" as he's been watching you tube videos about what's beyond our universe...

GameOverBoys · 13/09/2023 21:46

He replied instantly ‘once every three months’. No follow up questions. When I told him about the thread he asked ‘what’s the average?’ I said I wasn't sure but most men seem to think about it more than him and he sounded a bit deflated. Someone will have to work out an average. Maybe a graph?

borninthe80esss · 12/09/2023 20:55

Thankyou for this thread.. I'm in hysterics!
Just asked my DH.. Deadpan response of about once a week sometimes more. Like that's perfectly sodding normal.
I asked if there was anything in particular that he thinks about.. Mainly Gladiator training and how he could really beef up if he did it.. He's currently sat eating a cornetto.

This and the 'I bet I'm thinking about the roman empire better than all the other men' are hilarious.
I also liked 'once every five weeks' 😂

Incognito1975 · 13/09/2023 21:58

Just asked my husband and he said at least once a day 😳🤣

Maatandosiris · 13/09/2023 22:13

I’m a woman and would say I think of the Roman Empire daily - I asked DH and he said never!

I think it often arises connected with the rise and fall of empires and yes the Life of Brian had so many great moments, I often find them reflected in modern day life!

”symbolic of his struggle with reality” anyone😂

Darkdaysdislike · 13/09/2023 22:14

We're currently in Italy. This morning my husband picked up a piece of broken clay pottery on the beach and told me 'Caesar could have drank from this'😂Assume it's cos of our location but will have to question more closely tomorrow. Space would definitely be daily.

DetectiveDouche · 13/09/2023 22:14

When questioned as to why he thinks about it four times a week he said it’s connected to his interest in a. Julius Caesar (right 😳), b. Alexander the Great 🙄 and so c. It’s where his mind goes if he is a. bored b. trying the block something out.

That clears that up then 👀

Chickoletta · 13/09/2023 22:15

Just asked DH. No context whatsoever and he said ‘About twice a day I would think’. 🤯

RichardMarxisinnocent · 13/09/2023 22:25

HarrietPoole · 13/09/2023 19:56

Mine too; he was mystified by the question.

My poor DP was mystified, said never, and asked if that was good or bad. I think he's a bit worried that it might make him seem stupid/uneducated/uncultured compared to all the men who apparently think about it multiple times a week.

Though I am still wondering if this some sort of Mornington Crescent style game where people are just making up that their DH said they think about it often, and I am stupid for not realising.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 13/09/2023 22:28

If it is some sort of weird game can someone please let me know?
