How often does your OH think about the Roman Empire?

saw on Facebook a post saying that men think about the Roman Empire every day. The woman asked her husband and he said this was true and that he thinks about it daily. The comments was people asking their husbands how often they think about the Roman Empire with some very funny responses 😂

So, I’ll start .., I’ve just asked DH and he said “at least twice a week, why?”

My DH says he has a special and specific interest in the RE so he thinks about it often! ( probably every day 😂)

Just asked my partner and he said “quite often actually… at least once or twice a week, probably more”

Dh is re-reading the Simon Scarrow ‘Eagle’ series and we’re also re-watching Plebs from start to finish, so quite a lot at the moment, he says!

Just asked my husband, he said only when something about it has been on the TV.

My FWB has text back and said every day when he drives down the fosse way!

Mine too; he was mystified by the question.

My DH said he last thought about it “about 3 weeks ago.” Who knew this was a thing?!🤷🏻‍♀️😂

This is bonkers - I just asked the question, no context and he went: about once a week. 😐

When I questioned why and how, he said that a bloke he works with brings it up constantly...

Just ask my DH. He gave it careful consideration and says "hmm monthly I would think. Maybe more if its been on TV" . I just burst out laughing 🤣 😆

Just asked him and he said “once or twice a month probably” then there was a pause and he said “of course I think about other historical periods much more frequently, like the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Medieval, Tudors etc, the Romans just don’t really interest me” 😂

He said "It's not unheard of".

Only about once every 6 months for DH. Disappointing.

Coincidentally I overheard 2 men on the bus this morning mention the Romans in casual conversation.

lolllll this has really cracked me up. I couldn’t keep a straight face whilst asking. My husband just looked at me very weird and said “rarely”

This is so bizarre 😂 I asked my DO and he said never, but he’s Spanish, so maybe it’s a British thing.

I did ask dh today. He looked puzzled.
He admitted it ' doesn't cross his mind much'
( apart from that carry on Cleo film last Christmas time)
There was a programme on years ago ' what the Roman's did for us ' and that was fascinating.

Me: how often do you think about the Roman Empire?
DH: (without missing a beat) never
Me: seriously?
DH: well, very very infrequently, why?
Me: according to mumsnet men think about it quite a lot
DH: (eye roll)

In our family, it’s constant. DS is studying Ancient History at uni and has been obsessed with Ancient Rome since he was about seven. For the past 14 years, multiple times a day, I’d hear, “Mum, did you know that in Ancient Rome…?” I know more than I ever thought I’d know about Roman concrete, Roman battles, Roman temples, etc

so DH thinks about the Roman Empire multiple times a day because of DS!

Who is thinking about it every day, and why?

Monthly. Not sure if he gets emotional and rage-y just before.

I was in Athens last week and visited the Acropolis. There are lots of Roman ruins in the surrounding area and we went and had a look but I didn't think about the Roman Empire. It was more 'fuck me its hot, god this mosquito bite is itchy, is it too early to have a beer?' etc.

Dd8 did the Roman Empire at school last year and would come home and tell me interesting facts and stories and I STILL didn't think about it. I'm tired, peri menopausal, drowning in life admin, fat, grumpy and couldn't give a toss about men in white dresses. Fuck the Empire.

I asked DH this morning as soon as he was awake. He said "about twice a week" then asked why. When I explained about the thread he laughed.
He's just asked me to increase his tally as hes been thinking about it all day. 😄

I was about to say no of course I don't but then realised that being a pretty devoted Christian I quite often turn to our Lord and think of Jesus, which of course, brings me to the Roman Empire....

I seriously thought (before reading all these replies) it was a euphemism for rumpy pumpy, hence thinking of it alot
