How often does your OH think about the Roman Empire?

Just for fun

saw on Facebook a post saying that men think about the Roman Empire every day. The woman asked her husband and he said this was true and that he thinks about it daily. The comments was people asking their husbands how often they think about the Roman Empire with some very funny responses 😂

So, I’ll start .., I’ve just asked DH and he said “at least twice a week, why?”

would love to hear other Responses to this random question

He says rarely to never, but if I’d asked about the galactic empire apparently it would’ve been different as he’s a sci fi geek!

I love this thread, it's bonkers.

I'd think my DP thinks about it quite a bit. He studied Classics at school, I'm interested in the ancient classical world (I went to a sink school that would never in a million years have had Classic on the curriculum but have always wished I'd had the opportunity), and it does come up in conversation quite a bit. Plus we've been on hols to Croatia a few times and seen a fair few Roman sites there.

My husband is very fond of announcing “Well this must be a Roman Road” every time we drive down a particularly straight road. ( Not counting motorways- he’s not that daft).
Does that count?

When I saw this thread I thought it was crazy - who thinks about the Roman Empire? Then I remembered that I have already thought about it twice today - once when I was in a museum and saw a Roman soldier's outfit on display, then driving home along a long straight road, I thought, I bet the Romans built this road. Bizarre! I will ask DH later.

I just whatsapped DH at work and asked him.. quick response came back.. “about 4 times a week”. No questions asked. Why?!?? 🤷‍♀️

I just asked dh and he shrugged and looked at me like I had 2 heads.

THEN he said “well yesterday I saw this skull and thought something about Romans.”

I’ve just whatsapped DS31 to ask… will report back. I may be sometime. Replying to his mother is not high up on his list of priorities…. And that’s in more normal circumstances than this.!

DH reports at least weekly and is baffled that women don’t.
This reminds me of something I saw online about how to pay a man a big compliment, just say, “I think you’d have done really well/been really good if you were fighting in World War 2…” I tried that on DH and his reaction confirmed it’s true.

I very much doubt whether my OH thinks about the Roman Empire much, not least because he grew up in Africa, but I'll ask him. I bet my Dad thinks of the Romans quite a bit, because he loves history but he's more obsessed with Oliver Cromwell, and often has dreams that he's Cromwell. (In the interest of balance, I rarely think of the Romans, but I'm pretty obsessed with our ancient ancestors from far further back in time than the Romans. I think they're far more interesting)

My partner and I definitely think about it that often. I'm currently brushing up on my Latin, we went to Rome last month and I Claudius is one of my favourite TV series. I also have a child called Marcus and live near a city filled with Roman history so I can't escape it really ha ha!

I think this may be key, men and cars. DH isn't particularly into cars yet this is a very male response to the question.

Personally a few times on Sunday as people were dressed as Galdiators and Centurions in the Great North Run, prior to that when DD was doing her Roman homework.
