To ask for an explanation for wtf just happened? **MNHQ UPDATE: Mystery solved!**

I'm seriously creeped out and can't figure out a rational explanation so I'm hoping someone can!

Sitting in the kitchen, eating dinner when a black shape ran past my legs, close enough that I felt it pass. Figured it was my cat at first but when I stood up, she was sitting on the windowsill!

The dark shape ran into the living room where my partner is (he saw it too, because he shouted me!)

It apparently jumped on the sideboard and vanished in front of his eyes. There's nowhere it could go - the sideboard is solid oak on a solid stone wall.

The dog is now going mental at the sideboard like there's something there (if there is, we can't find it!)

I'm genuinely creeped out - anyone have a rational explanation? What the hell did we see?

Is "it's a rat" the new "cancel the cheque"?

sashh · 14/02/2022 04:55

Can someone write this from the rabbit's point of view? I'd love to read, "The adventures of Pippin" starting with the evening I made my neighbours think I was a rat or a ghost

Momijin · 14/02/2022 05:19

Haha brilliant 🤣

Av0bo55 · 14/02/2022 06:31

Mouse
Has happened to me before then on a different night I saw one! They can squeeze through the smallest space and so fast it’s like lightning 😆

Fl0w3ry · 14/02/2022 07:01

@Adharvan - that’s given me the creeps that you have experienced something similar to that too. It was the strangest thing. I have seen 2 ghosts that looked like people, but that dark shape is the one that sticks with me the most.
It’s hard to describe the noise it made. It was almost like a high pitched laugh, but not quite.

Glad to see your update OP. That was a cute result.

GingerScallop · 14/02/2022 07:10

I just want whatever you and your DP are smoking or sniffing. Am so exhausted by working or caring for kiddos throughout the night every night

maddiemookins16mum · 14/02/2022 07:25

Ghost cat. DH often feels his long departed cat on the bed. We’ve both also heard it purring (when our two current ones are downstairs).

OnlyAFleshWound · 14/02/2022 08:04

Try reading the thread. At least the op's posts.

camperqueen54 · 14/02/2022 08:07

You can deny the ghost cat theory all you like. But you will always be left wondering...

Splashinginpuddles15 · 14/02/2022 08:12

Aww , love this thread 🐰

supersop60 · 14/02/2022 08:30

I'd take a ghost over a rat anyday!
I'm glad the rabbit is ok - must have been terrified!

BringMeTea · 14/02/2022 08:30

Oh how adorable. Lazy arses read the OP's posts. 🐰🐰🐰

SirVixofVixHall · 14/02/2022 08:31

Or we could read the full thread and find out what it actually was…..
HunkyPunk · 14/02/2022 08:47

It apparently jumped on the sideboard and vanished in front of his eyes.

Is your dp sure he saw it jump up on the sideboard? Shock That was more likely to be the cat in all the pandemonium! Grin

Abra1d1 · 14/02/2022 09:00

Thank you for making my Monday morning!

Schmoozer · 14/02/2022 09:03

I want that bunny 🤣 !!!

theemmadilemma · 14/02/2022 09:34

Brilliant. At least you weren't going bonkers.

oakleaffy · 14/02/2022 09:34

@WeirdlyKind

We're all wrong!

It was next door's bloody rabbit! Sitting watching Call the Midwife and the damn thing hopped out from behind the TV unit. Nearly gave me a bloody heart attack!

Well It’s sad it wasn’t a Cat ghost.. But thanks for update. Rabbits don’t really make good pets - so often ignored and do escape.. Found one - obviously a pet- while walking with a Whippet and Lurcher.. It was reunited with its none too happy owners.
Blue4YOU · 14/02/2022 09:37

Rat

Blue4YOU · 14/02/2022 09:38

A rabbit!!! Noooo way

oakleaffy · 14/02/2022 09:39

That’s actually a 🐀 rat wearing a 🐰 rabbit costume!

Onlyforcake · 14/02/2022 09:44

Aw. Though I am amazed. My rabbits were noisy buggers whenever they were in the house!
