To ask your "glitch in the matrix" moment?

Hello,

I had a glitch in the matrix last night whilst dying my hair, I took the nozzle off the bottle and put it on the sink and then I mixed the dye etc and when I went to get the nozzle it was gone, I moved everything off the sink, looked on the floor but it was gone so I managed without and then once the hair dye was on I found the nozzle on the sink on top of something I'd moved and I swear it wasn't there before! Not a major event but it was a bit weird.

Do you have any glitch in the matrix stories? (Basically unexplained events)

@chipsarnie

A few years back I was walking down our East London high street at about 8pm on a summer evening, and a young woman pushing a pram stopped me and asked me if I'd "seen that aeroplane all on fire". She pointed at the sky - and sure enough, there was a large aeroplane (like a Boeing 777) trailing flames and smoke. We watched it for a few moments before it disappeared behind some tall buildings in the distance, but I could still see a long plume of smoke. It wasn't even very high up - and seemed to be flying in the direction of Stansted Airport. I rushed home and put the TV on, expecting a breaking news story. Nothing. There was nothing in online news, and I never heard another thing about it.

I think about this event a lot. I just can't make sense of it.

Oh something similar happened to me

We are on the flight path to Manchester Airport so planes going over were a common sight. One Sunday afternoon we heard a plane that sounded low. Our house at the time was high up so looked across the city and we could see this 747 really low coming towards us. By now all the neighbours were out and we watched as it banked and turned to head back to Manchester. The noise from the engines was deafening. Where it was turning was over some field and wooodland and we could all then smell fuel like it had dumped a load over the area, there was a haze too. .

To this day im glad so many of us saw it because nothing ever appeared in the news about it. Honestly thought I was about to witness a plane crash and it utterly terrified me

I hardly ever remember my dreams but when ds1 and dd2 were tiny, I had a dream so vivid not only did I remember it I woke up crying. In the dream I had 3 babies not two and I was crying because I couldn't leave the house. Everytime I got them all in carseats I had to bring them all in again as one needed changing, one was sick, one was hungry, one was screaming for no discernible reason and on and on and on. It was just so vivid and I was so upset. Very unusual for me and the weird thing being, when dd was 3 I did have triplets. Never stopped me leaving the house though. Delayed, yes, still to this day and often!

I went into the supermarket near our house and immediately saw a man who can only be described as my husband about 10 years into the future. He was his double but 10 years older, obviously. We both stared at each other and he looked a bit shocked too.
Will your husband meet a ten years younger version of you in a supermarket in ten years time? Grin

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles

There was a party that didn't happen and a Prime Minister didn't attend it, and then a bit later it turned out that the party had happened after all AND the Prime Minister had attended it but he hadn't realised that he had. Spooky.
🤣🤣🤣

My ds had a best friend at one school. Started at a new school and made friends with someone with the same first name as the previous friend and their mothers were from the same, unusual country. When the friend came round for some reason, I asked them when their birthday was but I knew it would be the same date as the first friends and it was! One day my ds was out with his friends shopping-in one direction coming towards them was the first friend and in the opposite direction was the other friend! Their birthday is also the same as my dads!

Years ago I used to drop my dog off at my parents on my way to work. They would 'dog sit' him for the day and I'd pick him up on my way home. I would go at weekends for a proper visit but would rarely go inside during the week (and didn't this particular day).
I bought an amazing pair of shoes at lunchtime which I showed off to my mum when I picked up the dog, then carefully wrapped back up, boxed and put in the passenger footwell.
When I got home 20 mins later they were gone .. not anywhere in my car, not laying in my parents driveway (I rang to check and my mum said no, I'd definitely put them inside the car).
Never seen again and I never even got a chance to wear them.

Oldnews · 12/01/2022 23:43

@ElegantlyTouched did you have a c- section by any chance? I regularly get a feeling of cold water on my foot since I had one, something to do with the way the nerves have healed.

Drinkyourweaklemondrink · 12/01/2022 23:44

Mine is more of an insane coincidence!
When I was 16 I traveled 200 miles to go on a sea cadet course. When I was there I met a boy and we started dating. He lived in the south. We dated for 5 months and his family asked if I wanted to go and stay for a week in the south. My parents said that they wanted to speak to his family to say hi and also make sure I would be safe there.
My parents began to talk to the dad and they realised he had a very distinctive northern accent that was the same as my dads. My mum asked where he was from.
Not only were they from the same town, but the dad was next door neighbours to my dad for several years when they were kids!
It was insane.

PurpleCarpets · 12/01/2022 23:45

@PriamFarrl

Nope.
Just a big old load of nope right there.

Grin But why single out that post? I think your analysis could have wider application in this thread!

Pebble21uk · 12/01/2022 23:46

(Name changed in the story for name of similar 'ilk')
As a young child I had an imaginary friend - as lots of children do. I used to talk about her a lot. Unlike most imaginary friends belonging to very young children, mine was a grown woman and her name was Mrs Wilkins. My Dad would tease me mercilessly about Mrs Wilkins given she was a strange imaginary friend for me to have. Like most children I eventually grew out of talking about her although she was never forgetten by the family!
Fast forward to when I'm 21 and my sister is 24. She gets married... guess what her new married name is!?

SukiPook · 12/01/2022 23:57

These are great, I've only read up to p6. Anyway I experience so many synchronicities and glitches! But this one was particularly "glitchy":

I visited Scotland with my sister. Bought a copy of Eraserhead on video in Glasgow as it is such a freaky film and I'd seen it when I was about 14 on Channel 4. Brought it back to N. Ireland, my sis came back too and we were in my mum's house. I thought I'd watch the film later. I was standing in the kitchen and the video was sitting on the counter. My sister walked in, picked up the video, said "What's this film about anyway?" I replied that it was really freaky, about this alien baby and it's sick and the guy Henry is looking after it but it keeps crying and crying...

So then we walk into the living room, my sis goes on to the bathroom and I stick the telly on. I was flicking around and nothing much was on. "There's a Kiefer Sutherland film on 2" I shouted. So I left it on ... Kiefer's character is standing in the kitchen having a conversation with his wife. Next thing she picks up a video off the counter and says "So what's this film about anyway?"... my eyes nearly popped out of my head, I screamed "Get in here quick!!" to my sister.... Kiefer's character says "Oh it's really freaky, there's this alien baby" etc etc...they are standing in the kitchen in the film playing out the EXACT same scene that has just played out in the kitchen with me and my sister. The video of Eraserhead is identical... same cover, price tag in the same corner. Kiefer is leaning against the counter the same way I was, the wife is standing opposite and picking up the video the same way my sister did, they have the SAME conversation about it.

My sister did get back into the room to see most of the scene play out and to date that's the freakiest glitch we've both had; but there have been many!

Holographic universe and quantum entanglement and so on I guess.... still, though.... weird!!

@WestendVBroadway

I have a couple. The first one was over 30 years ago In my early 20s house sharing , there was no central heating or electric shower so you had to put immersion heater on to have a shower. One morning I woke up , put immersion heater on , went downstairs and had breakfast then went to go upstairs and I noticed the back door was open. I then actually woke up and it had all been a dream. So I got up, put immersion heater on and went downstairs for breakfast and fook me the bloody back door was ajar. The second time was a few years ago at work a month or so after a colleague had left the company. I walked out into the corridor and saw Phil, the bloke who had left, walking down the stairs. I assumed he was visiting, but I joked to my mate "Oh Phil's forgotten he's left and come into work." My mate was like " What the fu*k you on about?" I said that Phil had come downstairs, but she and another colleague assured me that nobody had come down the stairs. I had seen him as clear as day.
Had Phil died recently?

What a lot of old bollocks!

(No, I didn't mean your post. I'm not doubting your memory or perception. Yours definitely happened. I just mean all the others Grin)

Carpedimum · 13/01/2022 00:00

A few years ago I went to a foreign city for the weekend with some friends to visit another friend who lived there. We were young & it was boozy with a pub crawl on both nights, our friend was keen that we had a good time. We took plenty of photos with a camera (before mobile phone cameras).
On our return and getting the photos developed, there was one of us in a bar with a woman sat next to us giving us the side-eye. She had medium length dark brown hair and a distinctive pointy nose with high cheekbones. In the photos of the next night, there was a similar photo of us but in a completely different bar in a different part of the city, but we were sat near to a painting… of the woman from the night before! Same face, same hair & almost exactly the same body position… and she was giving us the side-eye!! Very, very, creepy!
I should say that this was also years before people routinely tinkered with photos, back then you’d have been able to tell immediately if the photo was tampered with, and these are genuine. Very spooky.

I was in Liverpool with my ex and had just gone to meet my aunt and uncle. They had annoyed me. When I walked back through the streets to the car park, there was the weirdest eerie feeling I've ever experienced, as if there was no air, just tension

Metabigot · 13/01/2022 00:07

I'm constantly losing things and finding the where they shouldn't be, or realising it's a different time to what it should be but sadly I'm just a dizzy fucker with a sieve for a brain so any real glitches in the matrix would be lost on me as I'd just attribute them to general dizziness.

Nice reading about other people's though.

AwkwardAnnie · 13/01/2022 00:24

When my Dad was younger he used to go to art classes. His drawings were mostly copies of photos from magazines and he'd draw them in different styles, usually pastels but he experimented. Most of his pictures were women but he did 2 drawings of little boys.
My favourite is one he did just using tiny dots in black pen. It's a little boy sat on a tyre. When I got my first house I asked if I could have it as I've always loved it. I've had it about 25 years and it's signed and dated 1992.
My son is 10. When he was about 3 we realised he's the absolute double of the boy in this picture that my Dad drew 15 years before he was born.
So many people have commented on it assuming it's a drawing of my son, until they realise the date is far too early.

The other picture also looks a lot like him too, not as obvious in the features, but he has the same strawberry blonde hair that my son has.

Zebracat · 13/01/2022 00:31

My Dh woke me in the middle of the night because I was screaming and clearly having a nightmare. Even awake I was beside myself, talking about the huge wave taking all the people away and smashing their houses. . Eventually we went back to sleep, and woke in the morning to the news of the Indonesian Tsunami. There have been numerous similar incidents.

Rubyyyy · 13/01/2022 00:40

I always have odd feelings, when my grandad died in the early morning I woke up bang on the time he passed away. I instantly felt something was wrong, he died out of the blue but I just felt he had gone. My mum called me and told me he had died and I said I knew.

WorstXmasEver · 13/01/2022 00:45

Omg this thread is great.

Not really a matrix thing but still spooky, when my wife was having a emergency caesarean & I had no idea what was going on, I was left in a room in the hospital & I noticed that the hands on the clock on the wall was just spinning around like crazy. I got a video of it.

Catra · 13/01/2022 00:51

When I was a teenager and my dad's shoes went missing from the shoe rack in the hallway. He turned the house upside down looking for them. The next morning he opened the door to find his shoelaces on the doormat. The shoes have never been found, 3 decades on.

To this day he's insistent that I did it to spook him. I had nothing to do with it but can offer no other explanation as nobody else lived with us. It's still a bone of contention because he's convinced I'm lying and I'm mad he doesn't believe me!

Catra · 13/01/2022 01:10

I went to university in a city many miles from home. One day I was on the bus and overheard the woman behind me giving directions to someone over the phone. The directions were to her childhood home and my ears pricked up when I clocked that she was describing the route to my parents' road, where I had grown up and still lived during university holidays.

When she finished her call I couldn't help but turn around and remark on the coincidence. Bizarrely enough, we didn't recognise each other, even though we had spent our entire childhoods living a few doors down from each other and were one year apart in age (we'd gone to different schools).

Turns out we were both going home to visit family that weekend so we travelled down together. We discovered that not only were we both doing the same degree at the same university, we both played the same musical instrument and had both dated the same boy in our teens!

I graduated shortly afterward and started work. A year later, guess who walked into the office as the most recent recruit?!

(I realise this sounds like she's a stalker, but it was pure coincidence. Not quite a glitch in the matrix, but it stays with me).

I lost a debit card, and searched everywhere for it, but there was no sign of it, so I ordered a new one. A few weeks later, the new card disappeared, so I ordered another card. The latest card disappeared after about two weeks. Again I searched high and low, but nada.

Then, on the day I woke up determined to give up looking, and order another replacement, I got home from work, and it was the strangest thing. It was like a light bulb went off in my head, and I suddenly just knew where it was. I went straight to my bookcase, pulled one out (there are four, but I knew which crack to check), and there was my debit card! Only, it was the first debit card I'd lost (that I'd managed to take care of from it was issued, until a month before expiring).

Then, I suddenly realised, aha! Eureka! My card is stuck in the tumble dryer filter, bent around the back edge. And it was! Only, it was the second card I'd lost.

I still haven't found the third Confused.

safclass · 13/01/2022 01:27

I nought a money wallet card for neice. Came to write it out, couldn't find it. I knew it was on the kitchen bench, searched for it, moved stuff, could not find it. Wrote neices card, delivered it and when I got back I found it on the bench. Said to dh that we could use it for nephew and girlfriend. Went to write it out, couldnt find it again. Totally vanished! Again!
