To ask your "glitch in the matrix" moment?

Hello,

I had a glitch in the matrix last night whilst dying my hair, I took the nozzle off the bottle and put it on the sink and then I mixed the dye etc and when I went to get the nozzle it was gone, I moved everything off the sink, looked on the floor but it was gone so I managed without and then once the hair dye was on I found the nozzle on the sink on top of something I'd moved and I swear it wasn't there before! Not a major event but it was a bit weird.

Do you have any glitch in the matrix stories? (Basically unexplained events)
@batmanladybird it's when an object is out of sight but you still know it exists so for example if your in the living room then you know your bed still exists in your bedroom even though you can't see it (that's my understanding of it anyway).
Aha. Thank you

Back in 2001, I was flush with money and I bought my mother some sold gold clip -n heart earrings. They had very comfortable clips and she loved them and wore them all the time for a couple of years. One day, one of them came off in her car when she was driving. We went though the car and painstakingly searched for it, but never found it. It wasn't there.

FIVE YEARS later,
I got on a Virgin train from Newcastle to York for a work meeting.
As I sat down, I saw something shining on the carpeted floor, picked it up and it was an earring - the missing earring. Inside it had the inscription "Love, S x" which I had paid to have put on her earrings.

And then some of them, like this one, are so touching and incredible. There's definitely so much going on that we neither know about or understand.

@NChgforMatrixThread

Years ago I was at working talking to a colleague. He was a nice guy, but too young for me and not my type. In any event, he was leaving to move abroad the following month. I was divorced and 40 years old.

Whilst we were talking, I got what I can only describe as a vivid image in my mind. It was of myself and this colleague, we were married, with 2 children and living in a very hot place.

Fast forward 5 years and all of this came true. He stayed in England, a few months later we dated, then we got married and had 2 children when I was in my mid-forties. Then out of the blue he was offered a job in the middle east and we all moved there.

I know it's a coincidence, but it's really strange.

This gave me goosebumps!

I would absolutely have said I must have had some sort of episode, I imagined it, maybe I wasn't well, I was very sceptical of anything like this my entire life before it happened. But my little girl described him exactly as I saw him too, it still makes my skin crawl to think about and I've only ever told my husband about it because... well, it makes me sound demented.

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 12/01/2022 20:56

Some of these are brilliant and make my skin crawl!

In our old house. Opened plan. The kids were in the living room watching tv, I was in the kitchen. Something brushed past me quite firmly if that makes sense. I wasn't scared but it was weird. We didn't have any pets.

Same house, I was in the kitchen, kids were eating their dinner. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw (and heard) someone going downstairs to the basement(not spooky.)
I thought it was my husband and I'd maybe not heard him getting back from work, so called down to him asking him when he wanted to eat. There was no answer. I went down to look and no one was thereShock

We used to do the Ouija board. Our granny taught us how to do it safelyHmm
We repetitively kept getting a spirit with an unusual German name. He said he was 25 and a German gunner during the war and lived in the town we were holidaying in. We got 2 other spirits who were German too. Years later I read an article that there was an old POW camp near to where we had been holidaying. It brought me out in a cold sweat.

I was standing outside a sweet shop with my granny when I was quite wee. I can't remember exactly how it happened, either I said something about the big lorry coming down the street or it was her, but in a panic she told me to move from the front of the shop. I remember being really scared. The lorry went past and the shop sign/fascia fell off. It was a heavy old thing and would have flattened me!

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter

I have a similar story to you OP. I was doing my makeup at my dressing table, put my eyebrow brush down. When to pick it up again and it vanished. I haven't found it since either, very strange!!
Ask very politely for it to be returned. Bet it will be on the table when you come home from work. It's the spirits you know
TheFoundation · 12/01/2022 20:57

@Purplependant222

I'd be tempted to go back and have a look at the area, even if only on streetview...

ChinstrapBobblehat · 12/01/2022 20:57

DH works from home and is very organised and pedantic with his work stuff - always has the same things neatly arranged in the same order on the table, and moves to the sofa to take calls, where he makes notes always using the same moleskine notebook and black propelling pencil.

One day took a call, made notes, stood up to move back to the table and the propelling pencil was gone. Literally nowhere to be found. He took the entire sofa apart, reached into the back and sides up to his elbow, pulled all the other furniture out, checked every pocket - gone. He couldn’t get over it - he never loses anything, let alone something he actually had in his hand a few seconds earlier.

He mithered about it constantly for the next few days, while I took the piss, saying it’d obviously fallen into a time slip and would turn up when the glitch had corrected itself. But then it actually did! He came down to start work one morning and it was there on the table, in its usual place right next to the notebook. He really thought I was fucking with him but i was equally freaked out by it. A small, inconsequential thing, but it was truly strange.

togethelpptsd · 12/01/2022 20:59

Not sure if it’s a glitch in the matrix or if it’s just my house is haunted! Was looking for a certain top to wear out in the summer a few years ago, hunted through the wardrobe, clean wash pile, dirty wash pile, asked my mum (as I was living with my family at the time) if she’d seen it, both said no. Gave up and wore something else. Got home and it was hanging on my bedroom door on a hanger… I never ever hang things up. Also I used to have a remote controlled stereo in my room, I got home from work once and sat down on my bed, pushed the button on my tv remote to turn it on and my stereo came on blasting full volume… I hadn’t used it for years. Very odd things happen in my house!

togethelpptsd · 12/01/2022 20:59

Sorry that should say, never hang things on my door (although I’m sure my mum would agree I never hung things up generally!).

Can anyone living in the Maida Vale/St John's Wood area of London tell me if this is a real thing or was I hallucinating. Standing at a bus stop in Maida Vale, probably around 6am, dark, very foggy morning, 25ish years ago. Out of the fog come 25+ horses fast trotting down the road from the direction of St John's Wood. They were unsaddled horses, being driven from behind by a man on a horse with a whip. Very weird, very beautiful. I stood at that bus stop at that time of the day nearly every day for a year, but only ever saw the horses that one time. Nobody else I knew in the area had ever seen them. I wondered if they might be from a barracks or police horses being exercised, but never found out.

Someone up thread mentioned a low flying aeroplane. I had this standing outside my house in East London (but nowhere near an airport). A gigantic passenger plane came roaring over, it seemed to be barely skimming the roof tops. I was expecting to hear a crash/explosion any second after it passed over out of my sight, as I was sure it was in trouble flying that low, but nothing. Nobody else on my street heard/saw anything.

Yesthatscorrect · 12/01/2022 21:04

I was on holiday and had been talking to some lads the day before who I quite fancied. I looked out of the balcony and saw them next to the pool so decided it would be a good idea to go down and pretend I'd lost my sunglasses so I could talk to them. Bent over to look under a sunbed that I'd never sat on and low and behold, there were my bloody sunglasses!

Made my story more plausible though 😝

emsmum79 · 12/01/2022 21:05

I went into the supermarket near our house and immediately saw a man who can only be described as my husband about 10 years into the future. He was his double but 10 years older, obviously. We both stared at each other and he looked a bit shocked too.

I moved to Italy, sadly had to leave my cats behind, they went to a good home but it broke my heart. I went back to the UK after nearly a year as I was selling my house. We decided to camp in the living room on the first night. I was awoken by a scratching noise, went to see what it was, and it was my favourite cat trying to get in. OMG I cried so much. He spent the entire night snuggled up next to me.
That’s lovely. Did the cat move back in with you?
sqirrelfriends · 12/01/2022 21:10

At the pool a while back I'm trying to find my token to use the lockers as it's missing from my keyring. Someone lends a pound to me so I don't think much more of it.

Later I remembered that I had put it in my jacket pocket after shopping, find it, get keys out to add the token and it's already there.

I will add that I do have a few of these tokens floating around but my keys were in my bag.

DH denies all knowledge and thinks I'm mad.

forlornlorna · 12/01/2022 21:10

Weird thing that our family often puzzled over.

It was coming up to our then dd 6th birthday. She had been insisting that she was having a kitten. We kept telling her she was not. Everyday she'd draw pics of this black and white cat,she'd chosen a name, made it a bed in her room. If we tried to explain that we really didn't have a kitten for her she would get very upset and insist we were being mean and he was coming.

Birthday morning came and she opens her presents. She got ready to go out with her dad to the toy store to choose a gift. Opens the front door and in darts a black and white cat. "Yay he's here"

We had to take him vets to see if he was chipped, asked all the neighbours if they knew where he was from, put posts on missing pets sites the lot!

He's still here 6 years later

@DameDoom

Not a glitch but a weird UFO one. 1990, the early morning before an A level exam, my mum came into my bedroom and woke me up really urgently telling me to come outside. I went down and most of the residents of our street were all staring up at this bright, spinning rugby ball-shaped thing in the sky above our houses. It was massive and covering half the houses. I completely crapped myself and ran back inside while they all just stood there open -mouthed for ages. Next day, my mum told me a police man had knocked on our door at lunchtime to tell her not to worry about what we’d seen - it was a police helicopter exercise. I have never seen an enormous, spinning police helicopter before. It was totally silent too. It was the talk of the street - neighbours phoned our local radio station and one called the newspaper but there was never anything written about it. Not so much as a jokey mention of local yokels getting themselves confused with ‘copters and UFOs. I have trawled the internet to see if anything has been written about it - can’t find one single mention. Still intrigues me today.
That's amazing. My completely non woo DH swears he saw a UFO recently. He gets really offended when people laugh at him about it because he swears it's true.
TedImgoingmad · 12/01/2022 21:12

Not to shit on your experience @alicewasahorse but - you had an hallucination.I hope I don't sound like a sneering old cynic but I think the vast majority of these stories, as spooky and amazing as they sound, have logical explanations, mostly to do with our own brains.Some that have only been connected relatively recently, such as mild types of epilepsy and weird sensations such as intense deja vu or feelings of your stomach doing summersaults, or nausea.There's a lot we still don't understand about our own consciousness/nervous system

There was a programme on Radio 4 yesterday morning about a young woman who was hearing voices, seeing weird stuff, losing time etc. It all came on out of the blue, one day she was a regular student, the next she started experiencing lots of weird symptoms and eventually was hospitalised. The neurologists were baffled, but one of them thought she might have undiagnosed ovarian tumour encephalitis. She alternatively tested positive and negative for that condition. In the end, I think they did some sort of blood replacement therapy and she recovered (but never felt the same again). The neurologist said that the majority of people who suffer encephalitis are young women, and feared that many women have been misdiagnosed as depressed and even sectioned, when really they are suffering from a treatable disease caused by an ovarian cyst.

DB’s best friend died aged eighteen. Over the next couple of years my brother would regularly take my dog (they adored each other) for a walk often visiting his friend’s grave. Tragically, DB died suddenly two years after his friend.
A few weeks later I visited the cemetery. It’s one you can drive into and I had my dog in the car. I’d never taken him there before. DB is buried around a hundred metres from his friend but to get to DB’s grave you need to park near his friend’s grave. As I opened the door my dog bolted from my car, in that moment I remember thinking he’d go to DB’s friend’s grave. He’d been there many times. He ran straight for my brother’s grave (there are hundreds) and lay down on it whimpering. It’s twenty years ago now but making me emotional just thinking about it.

Mine is dull but I never could understand it. A very brief boyfriend when I was much younger, weeks only really. We split up, no hard feelings. I was a sleep walker, still can be. I awoke very late one night holding a phone to my ear and it was ringing out then an answer phone came on. This is blah blah auto repairs leave a message. I hung up quickly. I bumped into ex bf a few days later. Exchanged pleasantries. He was starting a new job the next day... working at the car place I'd sleep dialed.

My sister will recognise me from this…

When I was about 9 I was reading in bed after being put to bed. I had a lamp on and was reading one of the worst witch books. (I can see the page in my minds eye right now). As I was reading I heard my sister knocking on the bathroom door where my mum was in the bath and in trembling voice was saying ‘mum, mum… dads on the sofa… he’s dead… mum, mum’ I remember looking up and not quite understanding what I was hearing and then went back to my book and it happened again. I got up and my sister wasn’t outside the door so I went downstairs and asked her and she said she hadn’t been upstairs and everything was ok. Clearly I had drifted off and was dreaming but I wasn’t tired, had heavy eyes or a thing so it was very confusing. I was looking at my book at the time. Very weird.

AngelinaFibres · 12/01/2022 21:21

My dad died 5 years ago this month. I went into our local town last year to get bread. I had to queue at the bakers. I was just musing on this and that when my dad's twin walked up the street towards me. My dad didn't have a twin. The man had parkinsons like my dad and was walking with the stoop and the shuffle my dad had. He was wearing the same beige trousers my dad wore and the Tilley hat he always wore.Lots of old men with parkinsons dress and walk like that, but this man had my dad's face and beard. I had the biggest jolt of adrenaline I have ever felt. He was being supported as he walked by a woman. They were too close for me to discretely take a photo to show family and I was shaking a lot. I thought about asking if I could take his photo but I was conscious of how frightened my dad would have been if a random stranger had done that and how mad it would have sounded. I left the queue and went back to my car. It made me cry. I must have looked odd when I got home because my husband is normally very logical and analytical and would have poo pooed it but he just made me a cup of tea

Sweetpeasaremadeofcheese · 12/01/2022 21:22

When I was maybe 12ish our cranky cat went missing. One day I saw a see through version of him circling around the legs of my dressing table. I said nothing. Then on New Year's eve we were all outside making noise to bring in the New Year. See through/missing cat ran down our front steps between my dad and I. We looked at each other in bewilderment. Never saw cat again.
