To tell you about my first night with my son?

Ok awful use of AIBU so I apologise but just wanted to share Grin

Bought home my long awaited, much loved adopted 12 month old baby boy yesterday!

He fell asleep in his cot at 7pm - usually sleeps all the way through to 7am but woke up at 3am. Could hear him on the baby monitor chatting away happily to himself (so no waking up confused or scared!). Eventually started to fuss so I went in and changed his nappy as it was soaks through, changed his pyjamas and bed sheets, but he wouldn't settle back in his cot so bought him back in with me and DH where he fell asleep curled up with me. At about 5am he was obviously dreaming of something funny as he was chuckling away in his sleep. We then got up about an hour ago and he is happily playing around with me and giving me cuddles after having his breakfast Smile

I know it's early days and it's likely to get harder the next few days as he starts to realise he is missing his foster carer, but omg I am so happy and in love with my little chap.

OP, you can tell us as much as you like about your DS. You write from the heart and your posts are beautiful.

LondonStill83 · 12/01/2018 03:26

This post has made a night of insomnia so worth it.

And now I want to go wake up DS who is 16 Months to bring him into bed with us :-).

Rod Schmod, the only important thing right now is for your family to love that little soul as much as is humanely possible!!

How is older DS coping? I bet he's love to jump in on the cuddle train!

Sloegin2 · 12/01/2018 05:52

Aw. This has cheered me right up before going to work.

Congratulations OP! Xx

zigzagbetty · 12/01/2018 06:54

Am lying awake listening to our adopted 15 month snoring down the baby monitor and can just say that feeling continues on and on! Congratulations and i remember that first night so well! Enjoy all the snuggles and bed sharing as its all good for our amazing lo's!

Lizzie48 · 12/01/2018 07:39

I love watching my 2 DDs practising their cartwheels and handstands together. They're both really athletic. They're birth siblings and we fought to adopt DD2 because we wanted them to grow up together. Smile

DustyMaiden · 12/01/2018 07:44

That is lovely, he has obviously been well looked after whatever the circumstances.

LadyBunnysWig · 12/01/2018 07:45

I've had such a shit week and this just has made me start to cry on the bus. It's amazing how much you love him. The world needs more people like you OP

BangPippleGo · 12/01/2018 07:54

Thank you all! Glad to have put a smile on so many faces!

Yesterday was lovely, just played and cuddled most of the day. He's teething at the moment so was a bit grizzly at bath time but a bit of Calpol and he was out like a light by 6.30pm. Did the same at 2am - woke up chatting away, all happy and lovely, and after about 30 mins started to cry so bought him back in with me. I was able to actually get a it of sleep between 4 and 6 though yay! I think he's losing his dummy and that's why he can't settle back to sleep on his own so will buy him a dummy clip.

His big brother is doting on him completely and definitely getting in on all the cuddling action! And baby brother is in awe of his big brother.

LittleLionMansMummy · 12/01/2018 08:11

What a beautiful post op, huge congratulations to you and your dh. Lovely to hear such a positive thing first thing in the morning.

ferntwist · 12/01/2018 08:42

Such a lovely little family. Enjoy your beautiful boy!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 12/01/2018 10:25

Thanks so much Merry. He's had so much support from MN, and is the proud recipient of a Candy's Hug. I think he's a bit embarrassed! Xmas Grin

His hair does feel lovely, and he must have loads of growth hormone, because it's growing really fast! He hasn't told me off for stroking it or batted my hand away yet! Xmas Grin

ohfourfoxache · 12/01/2018 11:00

I hope you don’t mind Bang but I’ve nominated this for classics - it’s such a beautiful thread x

For the teething, we’ve found teething granules work really well. You can also get ice lolly moulds with chunky holders for little hands (think ours are Nuby?)

LornaMumsnet · 12/01/2018 11:01

Hi folks,

We've received an overwhelming amount of classic's nominations for this thread so as you can probably guess, we're sending it over now.

Flowers OP!

NorksAreMessy · 12/01/2018 12:10

Quite right too!

This is the antidote to all the cynicism, misery and grumbling in the world, a thread full of love and joy. Thank you MNHQ and THANK YOU bang for letting us share the love.

Really glad this has made classics as I think it’s great we all share our happiness and successes. Still very sad though that the lady celebrating finally getting breastfeeding going after loads of hard work on her third child and two previous child where she tried and didn’t manage it got pulled though for fear of upsetting those who couldn’t breastfeed. Don’t want to hijack this lovely thread - but please ladies let us all celebrate our successes and happy moments in life as they don’t prevent others from having them too and offer other people hope.
Here’s to a long loving family life for your little boy op xx

LoveProsecco · 12/01/2018 16:05

Loving that this has made Classics! OP you'll need to show him this thread one day SmileStar

JollyJuniper · 12/01/2018 20:33

I cried at the poem, then i was ok til i thought about how amazing it is that this little boy has found a family who will love and cherish him forever, and all the other stories of much loved children. I've got my beautiful 1yo twins next to me and while id happily keep them forever the way they are, i also can't wait to see who they become.

Children are so precious and i think this thread is beautiful. I nearly lost my twins at birth and in the minutiae of daily life its easy to forget what a miracle they are. I'm giving them an extra hug before i put them in their cots tonight.

Jux · 12/01/2018 21:44

Oh, this is so lovely, Bang. Thank youmfor sharing his adventures with us!

CatRen27 · 14/01/2018 03:34
