She has been living in our wood store for the last few weeks and for the last two we have been leaving food out. We put details up on local facebook pages, leaflet dropped and put posters up in local shop etc. No-one came forward so I took her to local vet and had her scanned for a chip. Nothing there and the vet told me she has a cigarette burn on her neck Angry

she is beautiful, friendly and sweet- a fluffy tabby with the foxiest brush of a tail. Vet reckons she is around eight months old

we cannot keep her as our boy is an only cat and detests all other cats. He will go walkabout if she stays as he's done that to previous owners. She is very sweet with him and is well socialised

I live just outside Durham- please pm me if you can help

thank you

She will probably sleep right next to him once she's settled. I wear her as a bed hat Grin

Omg stewpot actually got a lump in my throat! Such a happy outcome and you get a mini adventure on the way, lovely lovely story.

Toooldtobearsed · 25/11/2017 13:11

It is one of those rare threads on MN that makes you smile all the time 😊

BUT do we have a name yet?? My vote goes to Dee-Dee (Durham/Devon - possibly the two nicest places on earth)!

DustandRubble · 25/11/2017 13:18

Shamelessly posting on this rather than watching just so I can squeee about it all.

Drogonssmile · 25/11/2017 13:22

Lovely story! Please keep us all posted. Cats all deserve a lovely home.

DownTheChimney · 25/11/2017 13:50

I seem to have something in my eye.
My vote for her name goes to Dee-Dee too. Durham to Devon to start her new life.
Well done stewpot and gatekeeper Smile

Oh maybe goodness, I'm not even a cat owner so don't know how I stumbled on this thread, but I 've got a lump in my throat just reading about the happy ending in store for this lovely little cat!

AndromedaPerseus · 25/11/2017 13:54

Gatekeeper · 25/11/2017 16:52

right...I'm going to tell you lot something that you might not believe but it happened- StewPots already knows

I am a sensible, strapping North country lass and not one for atmospheres, visions, spooky goings on etc but last Saturday was the first time little cat was in the house. I like to go to bed earlyish and read and drink tea and she jumped up on our bed, nuzzled in and went to sleep

I woke up suddenly at 3.30am (she was still snuggled up) , had a drink of water and I heard a voice in the room. It said 'Heidi'...just the once

I told dh but he is a cynical practical bugger and just looked at me, thinking I'd been on the sherry Hmm

It happened..honest , so we've called her Heidi ever since!

Don’t do that to us gatekeeper!!

I read the first few lines of your update with my heart in my mouth as was expecting you to go on and say Heidi (as I now know she’s called) has gone missing/vanished.

I’m pleased to hear she hasn’t disappeared, but you had me feeling almost panicked for a bit there.

EachandEveryone · 25/11/2017 18:49

Me too I thought you were going to
Say she’d done a runner! I can’t wait to see her.

flutterby12 · 25/11/2017 20:00

Jesus wept OP I thought you were gonna say you'd found the original bastard owners who burnt her! Heidi is lovely and what a lovely thread

StewPots · 25/11/2017 20:29

Evening all, I'm just out of work barely alive after a nightmare shift but pleased to say we are on our way! Just filling up the tank now - never had to fill it yet as we've only had it 4 months! So excited it's unreal... tomorrow we finally get to meet the newest member of the family :)

EarlGreyT · 25/11/2017 20:33

Hurrah stewpots. You MUST update us all and let us know that Heidi makes it safely to her new home and then as to how she is getting on. She has fans now you know!

Drive safely.

RobberOfCatan · 25/11/2017 20:43

How wonderful! This is really really lovely and brings back good memories :) we took in a pair of rats from mn a few years ago and they hold a very firm place in my heart still despite not being with us anymore!
I hope it all goes well stewpots!

mischiefinprogress · 25/11/2017 20:56

What a lovely thread this is! Safe travels stewpots and do post a picture with Heidi when you get to her Smile. (Perhaps with you and Gatekeeper in it too?!)

Want2beme · 25/11/2017 20:59
