She has been living in our wood store for the last few weeks and for the last two we have been leaving food out. We put details up on local facebook pages, leaflet dropped and put posters up in local shop etc. No-one came forward so I took her to local vet and had her scanned for a chip. Nothing there and the vet told me she has a cigarette burn on her neck Angry

she is beautiful, friendly and sweet- a fluffy tabby with the foxiest brush of a tail. Vet reckons she is around eight months old

we cannot keep her as our boy is an only cat and detests all other cats. He will go walkabout if she stays as he's done that to previous owners. She is very sweet with him and is well socialised

I live just outside Durham- please pm me if you can help

thank you

She's a real dote. Mine have travelled thousands of miles with me, with no problems. I'd say she'll be ok travelling to Devon.

Isadora2007 · 24/11/2017 01:39

How much would a train journey cost @stewpot?

EachandEveryone · 24/11/2017 04:09

Aw can’t we all donate afew quid to get her home?

OtterInDisgrace · 24/11/2017 05:04

I don’t wish to sound like an arsehole, but is there any charity near you that could take her, rather than giving her away to some random person off the Internet?

I’m sure stewpot is lovely, but this wee girl has already had a bad start. If you gave her to the Cats Protection League they would fully vet anyone interested in taking her.

Seriously, no offence intended. I just want her to have the best shot at a safe life.

sashh · 24/11/2017 06:14

StewPots

Contact Cats protection, they have a main rehoming centre in Devon (maybe somerset) so may, although only may, transport a cat for you for a donation.

If not can we get a mum's net chain / pass the puss?

I'm in Wolverhampton, I could do a leg from Stoke to Brum or thereabouts.

Can someone do Durham to somewhere and somewhere to Stoke?

StewPots · 24/11/2017 07:32

OtterInDisgrace no offence taken (from me anyway). Totally get the concern. I have spoken to OP and seeing if we can find a way, but if not I know there is a plan b for this darling little cat.

I can't rationally explain why but something has drawn me to her, I don't know why. I have a lot of experience with cats, my DC have been bought up around a variety of animals and are all animal lovers, we have a decent size house and garden with plenty of room to roam, so I'm confident kitty would be happy here.

But yes, I totally understand the concern. Shelters are very overrun with cats to be rehomed, I just thought why not cut out the middle man if I can and help out. She is utterly gorgeous, and if we can't have her I'm sure it wouldn't be long until someone else would.

StewPots · 24/11/2017 07:36

Sashh Thats a good idea, didn't think of that. Quite possible that they would, I will look up details of our local Branch, Exeter I think will be nearest to me.

BonjourMeDarlin · 24/11/2017 07:43

There is a cat delivery service! Sounds like a joke but I will link to it 😊

StewPots · 24/11/2017 07:46

We have DH Grandma in the midlands, so that's a halfway point there for us in case anyone is heading from Durham to Midlands(or roundabouts) on Sunday Grin

Thanks to all the kind offers to help with this, MN really is great isn't it?

BonjourMeDarlin · 24/11/2017 07:46

There’s actually a few if you google so it may be best to check reviews to find the best one?

StewPots · 24/11/2017 07:47

@BonjourMeDarlin oooh yes, that sounds good :) will google now.

StewPots · 24/11/2017 08:21

I have asked a company for a quote but I think there may be an issue with pet transport companies regarding vaccinations. Obviously being a stray there is no certainty she has been innoculated so that may be a no-go :(

But I've asked them anyway, see what they say :)

StewPots · 24/11/2017 09:02

Ok so this is pretty much go with pick up possibly Sunday :)

Gatekeeper · 24/11/2017 09:03

Otter I fully understand your concerns but all animal shelters here are full..all I could do is put her on a waiting list. If this doesn't work out I have plan B but either way am confident she will be loved and cared for

She looks exactly like my kitty that went missing. :(

Don't think it could be her though I'm in Manchester.

BulletFox · 24/11/2017 12:37

She is beautiful, actually if there was a just giving page I'd be happy to bung in a few quid towards transportation.

I feel like a bad catmum sometimes as I chain smoke whilst stressed, I try to keep her away from me when I do that to protect her little lungs.

She's well fed and happy 9 years on however

EachandEveryone · 24/11/2017 14:25

People on here aren’t random strangers though are they? We are on the litter tray all the time we might be abit quirky but we all have that cat thing in common. We all love em.

Toooldtobearsed · 24/11/2017 14:38

I am just outside Durham too, would be happy to transport to, say, York and meet and swap? If someone York (ish) could do a run a bit further and swap again, we could have her there in no time😊

Doobigetta · 24/11/2017 15:10

It would be so wonderful if this could work. Fingers crossed for both posters and the little lady Flowers

Doobigetta · 24/11/2017 15:11

And I'm in Manchester and will help with the supply chain if I can Smile

BulletFox · 24/11/2017 15:26

Really want to know what happens to her!

Toooldtobearsed · 24/11/2017 16:28

Could get to Leeds rather than York, if that helps.....

igglu · 24/11/2017 16:55

I’m Nottingham and am visiting family near Durham next weekend if that helps?

thecatneuterer · 24/11/2017 17:17

This sounds promising. I agree with Eachandeveryone that people on here aren't random strangers. I would trust Litter Tray posters over just about anyone else.

Gatekeeper · 24/11/2017 19:07
